"Of course." She said after a moment before getting to her feet.

"Back in a moment, boys." She said before leaving the room.

It was about two weeks later when there was a knock on Hal's office door.

"Hey Dad?" She called in. He could identify Lunet's voice no matter what. The question would be why she was there, and along with that... why did it sound like there were nerves to her voice, as well.

"Eh?" he mumbled.

"Why...?" he started to ask, before sighing and shaking his head.

"Door's open!" he called to her.

"Hello." he greeted her with a smile when she stepped in.

"I was thinking about going to lunch." he told her.

"Care to join me?" he asked.

"I would love to, Dad," she started, "But I have a lunch date with Cain." She told him honestly.

"I'm ... here to give you some news." She then said.

"and to ask a question." She paused a moment.

"How... would you feel about being a grandpa?"

Hal was silent for a moment, processing what she asked.

"A... grandpa." he said.

"....I see..." he mumbled.

"Well, it's no surprise that you're engaging in such activity, given you fell victim to that mana anomaly." he commented.

"But... it's gone THAT far, has it?" he asked.

"Well, the answer to your question is contingent on the answer to a question of my OWN." he told her.

"How do YOU feel about being a mother right now?" he asked.

Lunet paused a moment, thinking about the answer to that.

"Bit earlier than I had expected, but... I'm not entirely against it, if I'm being honest." She answered.

"Sure, I'm only twenty one, barely able ot drink, but... I got a good support system, and I don't think the kid'll have issues because of that." She paused.

"Besides, I was born to a young mother, and I kinda feel I need to prove that they don't all go bad like that."

"I see." he replied.

"Well, if you feel that you can honestly handle that massive responsibility." he told her.

"Then I will support you." he said.

"Admittedly, given what I am, the thought of becoming a father never entered my mind until I met you, so a grandfather was never even on my radar until right now." he then admitted.

"...I must say, my initial reaction is... a positive one." he said further.

"Now... do Cain or your mother know?" he asked her.

"And I haven't told Cain yet. Wanted... to know if you were going to have issues or something first." She added with a bit of a sheepish tone to her voice.

"So... yeah. Regardless, if there's nothing else, I'm going to head off to go and tell Cain."

"...already becoming a mother..." he muttered.

"Well, at least it's with someone that's trustworthy, I suppose." he went on.

"...wonder how Aedan and Azazel will take this..." he then wondered aloud.

"Not as far as I know, but honestly, I have no idea." She admitted.

"Anyway, I'm going to go talk to him." She said with a smile. "If you need me, you have my number." with that she made her way over, gave him a hug, before heading out. She had a lunch date, after all.

She arrived at the cafe they were meeting at before he did and took a seat, not putting an order in as she knew that it was something that it would be done when he showed up.

"I do wonder how he'll take it..." She said quietly, hoping that it would go well, but she had absolutely no idea.

Hal watched her go, and paused for a moment when she shut the door behind him.

"......it's been a very long time since I did this..." he mumbled.

"Ah, what the hell. I can't get addicted to it." he chuckled, digging in a personal drawer, finding a VERY old box... and taking out a cigar.

"It's old-fashioned, but... it's been a century or so. I'll indulge." he laughed, sniffing the smoke.

She was waiting for about 6 minutes or so, before Cain showed up and sat down across from her.

"Hey." he greeted her.

"Waiting long?" he asked.

"Also... we need to talk." She then said, her voice a bit more serious.

"It's... not entirely a bad thing... but it depends on how you think about it."

He then sighed deeply, shaking his head.

Cain looked to be... absolutely stunned.

Shocked, stunned, and frozen.

"...pregnant?" he asked.

She nodded.

"And... well... I mean... there's no way I'm not the father..." he went on.

"That's right." Lunet confirmed.

"..........................." Cain was silent again for a good, long moment... before he smiled.

It was small, but it was soft. And honest.

"Heh." he chuckled.

"Life sure is funny." he commented.

"Guess we have a future to plan for." he added, his smile growing a little.
