"Figured." Chris said.

"Let's go." he told her.

They then made their way back to where Ashleigh was.

"All right." he said.

"Ready." he said further.

Chris just sighed.

"I will." he said.

He then made his way to where Hazel was and approached her.

"Hey." he said to her.

"Seems there's a raid going to be happening at Vanessa's base." he told her.

"You in?"

Chris got up and walked over.

"Should ask Hazel." he said.

"What? Why?" Ilias asked.

"She has a bone to pick with Vanessa, too." Chris replied.

"But she's not a fighter." Ilias said.

"Her mana is chaotic enough to throw an unexpected wrench into plans." Chris countered.

Chris just looked guilty at what Kiah said.

"She was referring to Vanessa, you know." Ilias said.

"I had a hand in it." Chris replied quietly.

"Ah." Ilias muttered in response.

"I guess the sooner we leave, the better?" Chris asked Ashleigh.

Chris looked at Kiah, and then back to Ashleigh.

"I'm in." he said.

"I want revenge on Azari, anyway." he said further.

"...why?" Ilias asked Ashleigh.

"Why now?"

"You're not." Ilias replied.

They then made their way to a room and went inside, as Chris was finishing up filling something out for Kiah.

"Headache's gone. Completely." he told her, before looking at Ashleigh.

"..." he was silent, before sighing.

"Looks like I may be in serious trouble."

The door was answered by Ilias.

"Oh, hello." he greeted her.

"...Ashleigh, right?" he asked.

She nodded.

"Come in." he said, stepping out of the way.

"Here to see Chris? Or Kiah?"

"Yes." Hal responded.

"I'm staying here." Jake said.

"We all are." Lindsay interjected.

"Go and get him." he told Ashleigh.

"Odds are we'll have a full team ready by the time you're back." Hal said to her.

"He has a dorm here." Hal responded.

"Room and board as payment for being a test subject." he said.

"So either there, or the lab. Or the medical wing." he added, telling her the dorm.

"I'll call for other agents to join while you're doing that." he told her.

Ash and Lindsay were silent.

"What?" Ash asked.

"I see." Lindsay said.

"So you have him on a leash." Ash then said.

"Can't argue with the reasoning." Lindsay sighed.

Hal was silent for a moment.

"Jenkins." he said.

"What?" Ash asked.

"It's been made clear he has a vendetta. And he knows the layout of the place." Hal said.

"Probably better than anyone."

"Yes." Jake replied.

They then went in and made their way to Hal's office.

"Hello." Hal greeted them.

"We need a team." he told them all.

"Let's put one together and get this over with."

Lindsay just sighed.

"I admit, something inside me is scared." he told her. "But it's high time I confront the demons of my past." he said.

"...yeah, sounds accurate for me, too." Ash agreed.

"Anyway, I'll get us to the Unit." Lindsay then said, before the three of them were engulfed in red flames, appearing in the designated area of the security landing for the Unit.

Jake nodded when they came into view, and sighed.

"Welcome back." he greeted Ashleigh.

"....right, then." Lindsay muttered with a sigh.

"I'm in." Ash told her.

"...I detest violence." Lindsay said. "...but I know when it's time to use it." he went on, standing up.

"Violence is usually the first act of the incompetent... but I think that, over the course of the years... decades... centuries... we've exhausted literally every other act and/or solution." he said further.

"Meaning it's FINALLY time for you to showcase what that body can do?" Ash asked him.

"...indeed." Lindsay confirmed.
