@MoodyBats: I really admire you for pursuing your art like that! I hope I’m not super annoying, I got a little over excited about it. >.<

@MoodyBats: it depends if you get caught or not. I tried selling fan art and someone reported it and redbubble removed the art and said if they found fan art on my account again I would be banned. So I guess you can take a chance and try to sell fan art and hope no one reposts it.

I wish I could sell merch! It sounds like such a great way to make money, doing something you love. ^^

@MoodyBats: the problem with places like that is that they take 90% of the cost because they do the manufacturing and selling and everything. Your cut is tiny. And fan art isn’t allowed. Sometimes they claim the rights to any designs uploaded, so you can never take those designs anywhere else.

I’d personally be more comfortable finding just a manufacturer that has no say in cost, sales, etc. and has no rights over the art or products. Seems safer. On Etsy they do no manufacturing, you just sell from there. I’ve done a lot of buying from artists on there.

@Shadami: I’d happily take an honest answer, but whatever you’re comfortable with. ^^

@MoodyBats: I’m sure somewhere there are sites that are good for manufacturing merch. I tried to find some a few years ago but didn’t have any luck. That’s why I ended up at redbubble, but they aren’t a very good option if you want anything that’s not expensive.

Washi tape sounds easier than most things to design. It’s so thin it would be like, koi - lily pad - koi - lily pad - repeat

@Anarchist Beauty: $50 in stickers is a lie I really really want! OuO that sounds like heaven!

I could literally spend hours looking at stickers online. My new plan though is to get an app or program that saves images from instagram, because I want to print people’s art to paste into my journal.

@Anarchist Beauty: I love the show Supernatural, I’ve watched all the episodes like 5 times. But there’s one called “bugs” that I’ve never seen! I saw the title and was like, nope. Not going to happen!

And I hate bug and spider items on sites like this! And when there’s a spider monster in a video game. It’s the most common phobia, stop making spider things!

@MoodyBats: I have a red bubble. They’re really expensive though. If I wanted to actually sell things to people I’d order through a manufacturer. And red bubble doesn’t have just art prints. They have like, canvas prints and expensive stuff. But I have no idea how to get art printed on stuff directly. OnO

Artists now have like washi tape they design and stuff, and I’m like where do you get these things!? I got a coffee cup beautifully printed with art on it one year. I have no idea how people get their merch made!

@MoodyBats: do you think you’d get an Etsy or something once you have merch? Maybe I can order something from you.

What kind of designs would you do for merch? All I draw is like... people. But the stuff that’s my favorite to by is like beautiful koi fish journals or cats wearing witch hats on shirts.

@MoodyBats: my roommate Sergio has an artist friend who sells prints and pins at conventions. She seems to like it and do pretty well. I’m sure it depends on what conversation and what kind of things you sell.

The store I work at is Asian imports and we have a kpop section but I don’t like the newer hip hop kinda stuff. Super Junior is still my favorite, more pop sounding. I’m not a huge kpop fan though. We just have kpop radio on in the store sometimes.

@MoodyBats: I’m such a sucker for artists who make useful things. Shirts, notebooks, coin pursse, lunch bags... I got a glasses cleaning cloth at the last convention I went to. It’s so cool to surround myself with cool art.

@Shadami: and Anarchist Beauty, hey! How are you doing!?!
Posted in Lock please Posted 6 years ago

@MoodyBats: what kind of freelancing do you want to do? I get art/clothes/journals/etc from artists when I go to conventions. (A coloring book once too!) But even that seems so hard to get into.

@Anarchist Beauty: I’ve gotten some jewelry from wish, but all my jewelry is like cheap costume jewelry so I don’t care if it looks cheap. Honestly cheap is my style.

But mostly I’ve been getting stickers. I have a huge wishlist of stickers and washi tape and journals and all kinds of fun stuff. I could spend like a million dollars on $1 stickers. XD
