@milkshake: Thank you so much! Oh, and happy birthday!!! Strawberries are amazing, I almost put strawberry frosting on my cake. I ended up picking some vanilla for it, but now that you mention it, I should have gone with strawberry. Sooo good. <3

@milkshake: Home grown is always the best! Certainly the most fresh, and it always tastes so personal and special. I just say, keep exploring! I'm always surprised to find new foods that I like. ^_^
@wildfire: Thank you! One thing about myself you'll notice is that I really love apples. My mother was an orchardist, but I'm somewhat obsessed with it. I can discern at least 100 varieties of apple by taste. It's just a passion. My other main passion is music. I play a bunch of unusual instruments common in folk music and medieval music, mostly focusing on psalteries. I like to bake, I'm a mamma's girl and adore my mother, and I loved my very long hair until I lost it from cancer treatments (I'm getting better though, no worries).

Tell me what your favorite apples and music are! =)

@rei ann: <3
@wildfire: I'm really excited about this and happy to meet you all! You've been very welcoming and I tend to be shy, so you've already pulled me out of my shell. <3
@rei ann: Oh, I just saw the trade! Thank you so very much for that! ^_^
@rei ann: That's awesome! Here's a random fact about me: I'm an acquaintance of Hynden Walch, the actress for Starfire. I don't live anywhere near California, but we have connections together at CCM. We're not exactly friends I'd say, but we're Twitter mutuals and occasionally chat there to talk about what we're up to.

I've always had a habit of making my avis look more or less like me. I haven't been blond in quite a while though, and I had some chemotherapy treatments last year that took all my "Rapunzel locks" away, but it's growing back nicely. In a few more years, I might have bum-length hair again. =)

I'm doing pretty well today! I baked a cake, did some household chores, and this evening I'm going to a birthday gathering for someone turning 70, just some close family, so I will be eating even MORE cake! What are you up to today?

Hello! I'm new, so I'm just stopping by to say hi and checkout the hangouts. I love all of your avis! I hope you all have a wonderful day. ^_^

Hello, everyone! One of my biggest preoccupations in life is apples: growing them, eating them, talking about them incessantly, giving them away to people to they can enjoy them, just sharing my love of apples in general. So I ask you: what are some of your favorite kinds of apples?

My favorite apple is probably Cox's Orange Pippin, though Reine des Reinettes, Cornish Gilliflower, Golden Delicious, Roxbury Russet, Cripps Pink, Gravenstein, and McIntosh are also high up on my list. I use Rhode Island Greening for baking most of the time, or Mutsu when I can't get it. I tried Hubbardston Nonesuch and Lamb Abbey Pearmain for the first time this apple season, and at the moment I'm excited about some Ashmead's Kernel I have. They taste like a cross between an apple an an orange, with a strong citrusy note, so you could say that it's apple and oranges!

Half of the fun of apples is how many have silly names. So, what do you like for apples? There's never a wrong answer because all apples are amazing in their own way!
I go on vacation in the summer with extended family (everyone staying in one rented house near the beach, keeps it more affordable for everyone), and there's one woman who will just stand there and do all the dishes for every meal because she will pull everyone's dishes out of the dishwasher and wash them by hand. We've learned that we can't win with her, so we just let her do it, but then she always complains that we "make" her do all the dishes. It's an unusual quirk, so I can relate to you!

Hey, there's no such thing as a bad apple, I say, so I think you look amazing, and I'm sure they tasted even better!
@rei ann: Hello! I'm glad to meet others feeling the same nostalgia! Oh, and I love your Raven-themed avi! =D
@wildfire: I started out using Gaia back in 2005, but I definitely moved onto other things quickly! I had a big presence on Solia once upon a time, and then ditched it for Crysandrea, and then I didn't explore until I found Pantheon a few years back. (That's the one that I looked for that didn't seem to be up anymore.) I'm older myself, and I got that vibe lurking a couple of threads where I saw folks talking about being married and buying homes and working and stuff, so I think I'm in the right place. =D

I have the kind of job where I can be gone for days and then have other days sitting around all day doing nothing, so no worries!

@vozzy: Hi! Thank you so much! =) I'm considering making my second cup for the day. I just got this new little thing to do the pour-over method of coffee making and I'm hooked. I used to use a percolator, which is pretty old-fashioned, but I always liked how they are all-metal and easy to deep clean.

Sadly, I didn't make a red velvet, but it came out REALLY good! It was just a standard yellow cake, and I made some simple vanilla frosting for it. I had it for breakfast/lunch and it cake out all right, but alas, I think I ate too much cake.
@wildfire: Hi! I had just been thinking recently about how I missed posting on sites like these, and then I went to one that I used to be active on and saw that it is now defunct (or maybe I just can't find it anymore and was going to the wrong URL). So I just looked up "sites like [forum site]" and this one popped up, so I decided to give it a try! =)
