Do what I do. Hold tight and pretend it's a plan!

@MoodyB: Happy Birthday!

I can't imagine not celebrating my birthday. My father isn't big on birthdays, but I think that's more the expense than anything else. He hates how expensive birthdays can be, especially now that he has multiple grandchildren on top of his own children, haha. We always do something - cake and ice cream, and usually a nice dinner, plus a couple of presents.

Did you buy yourself anything nice with the $100 from your friend?

@Ark: That sounds adorable! We have something like a kettle; it's not electric, though. You have to put it on the stove. I never thought of putting the tea bags INSIDE of it, though.

@Totalanimefan: You mentioned not to squeeze the tea bag for black tea - is that something people do with other types of tea? I know my father mentioned it, but I figured he was just wierd, haha!

@Miss Sandman: I didn't when I was younger, but I'm finding a nice herbal tea helps me to settle down before bed. Trying to replace my nightly ice cream with tea, since I'm diabetic and it's much more healthy for!

@Delightfully: To be honest, I normally drown the taste of the tea in honey anyway, so ....

@Delightfully: Wait ... you can re-use them?! Since when?! I thought all the tea leaves inside the bag were used up when you used them!

@sunny: I will definitely watch that video! Thank you :)

Okay, I think I've been making tea wrong my entire life.

I watch a few british shows, Doctor Who and Sherlock among them. And apparently I don't make tea correctly?

For us Americans, we either boil water on the stove or in the microwave, then add it to the cup. We then put a tea bag in the cup, leave it for about 5 minutes, add honey, remove/squeeze the tea bag, and then throw it away, and then drink the tea.

That's how we do it in my house, anyway.

What I see on British shows, however ... they have this cute little kettle thingie that they make the tea in, and then pour it into the cup already finished.

Can anybody tell me how to PROPERLY make tea?!

@MoodyB: That seriously sucks. If you lived in Florida, like me, I actually have a two bedroom apartment attached to my house I could have offered. I mean, all the normal background checks and all that, since we don't really know each other. But we only charge around $900 a month.

I really hope everything works out for you. It's really sucky that your landlady is springing this on you with no warning.

@MoodyB: That sucks. Do you mind if I ask what country you're from? It was a nation-wide mandate at one point for America, I believe. Some areas have gotten rid of it as cases have gone down, but some areas - like Maine - still have it in effect.

Does your area not have covid protections anymore? I know my area still has a mandate that you can't be evicted, even if you can't pay your rent, because of covid. It's helped a lot of people I know, who couldn't work because of covid. I've heard some areas are getting rid of it, though.

Okay, I'll take a stab at this ... *trigger warning: anxiety*

It is like a pervasive pounding my brain, this sense of urgency. As though my body might snap in twain, so great is the need for action, to taught do my muscles pull.

Does that happen a lot? I mean, the bundles are pretty expensive, I almost want to say it's some sort of a bug that needs to be looked into?

I'm sorry :(

I totally get you on the rejection front, though. I was just rejected by the government to be my father's live-in caretaker ... and job I'm already doing for free. Apparently, he isn't far gone enough for them to give me money for his care, even though I do a lot for him already. We are going to re-apply, but I don't have much in the way of hope that their answer will be any different.

Like Ava said, though, I'm super proud of you for continuing to try! Have you considered something like job cops to get a cna/nurse license, before continuing on for your dental degree? It's totally free, and they even provide room, food, and a small paycheck every two weeks. It's not a lot of money, but considering that they pay for everything else you could possibly need, it's a nice little bit of pocket change. I actually went to one - they are all over the USA - and got my culinary degree.

Welcome to Voltra!

Most of my old avatar sites either went down, or became too overcrowded and money hungry (I'm looking at you, Gaia!) So I know exactly how you feel :)
