yeah its been really hard.

Tho I'll probably try to paint tonight
just so i can rest well at night. If i don't do any art i can't seem to rest. :vanora_sweat:

@Totalanimefan: Yeah. i just hope she isn't suffering.
They said yesterday she had a sore throat.
and on Monday she had a rash which may be unrelated but she was in a lot of pain
but she didn't want to admit she was but my dad called someone to check up on her after zoom.
I'll do my best. I kinda tensed up my neck bad due to the stress and had vertigo.
but im doing a little better now.

So a little background first is. My mom lives in a nursing home due to she had a stroke 10 years ago.
in Octobter 2019 she was diagnosed of being terminally ill and with hospice as she barely eats and drinks.
today we were supposed to have our zoom meeting at 2pm.
We have zoom meetings every Monday and Wednesday to lift her spirits as the pandemic has been super hard on her.
And we recently learned she also has dementia.
But today we found out, she's been moved to the third floor of the nursing home as she tested positive for COVID as some of the
people there had also been tested positive.
We don't know how severe she has it but still it's scary and I am having anxiety over the matter as it's just so scary to know
she has it and there is literally nothing I can do.
So keeping her in your thoughts I would very much appreciate.

@xvz: yeah it's hard to keep a balanced life.
But i think it's going good so far figuring out the balance between art, studies, and personal art.
Kinda but i rarely draw in my sketchbook.
drawing in sketchbooks is super hard.
yeah im so excited to do paint tober. it seems super fun.

Also not to self promote but...I do have an artist hangout here on voltra.
and i might make a discord for it which may or may not have critiques too.
idk who will critique the art. maybe anyone or i'll have mods for...critiques. if anyone is interested.

@xvz: Well i've been trying super hard to stay motivated.
I get creatively drained, and battling mental illness after mental illness.
I pretty much found out i have ADHD, which really kind of affected me. I haven't officially got tested for it yet
but im 99% sure i do have that and everything i learned about it im like "So that's what this is..."
But i've been trying so hard to keep up with art because even tho art is very hard a lot of times
it really makes me happy. and i want to improve.
Maybe around this time next year i will fill my large sketchbook maybe half way. or less than half.
I call my sketchbook...frank as he is a big boi. it is a 10x14 sketchbook. :vanora_sweat:
but i just overall want to do better at practicing, studying and improving.
Next october i plan to do a prompt list..but i will do PAINT Tober.
so it will be paintings.

definitely will be trying to paint now. maybe i might dig out a reference
too to also study.
I'm definitely going to make 2021 my painting year to work harder on my
studies and sharpening my skills as i feel my art will get so much better if i work harder
on painting my art. and of course show those hands who's boss too lol.
But i luckily got 3 art series to practice with. and probably more draw this in your style challenges as well.

I think i also wanted to make something with a strawberry pattern which sounds super cute!
Definitely! tiny details aren't super important in the beginning anyways.
I think it's mostly shape for small details like on mountains that are super tricky but as long as im learning it's okay.
I have to tell myself studies are not to make an exact replica but to learn from what you paint.
So i often remind myself that. and I did learn a ton from painting mountains.

@xvz: I wanted to make a cute puffy dress for voltra but i never fell throgh with it.
I still even have the wip on my hard drive if i ever get the courage to make it.
A long time ago i wanted to make my own avatar site cause i often have dreams of making one.
but i probably could not commit to it lol.
I think when it comes to painting studies, the smaller details tend to stress me out.
When i block in the big shapes it's so fun. But when it gets to the really small details
im like "Oh no send help."
Yeah speed paints are super motivating and make me feel super inspired to get study my rump off!
I have not but now that i know popeye's has a spicy one i so want to try one...after pandemic of course lol

@xvz: Back in the day i HOARDED resources like you would not believe.
From bases, to tutorials, palettes, and more.
I miss doing pixel dolls some times but other times im like "ehh."
Ever since starting landscapes i have gotten over a little of the beginner painting jitters.
But people still are daunting. But I am going to do my best to paint this piece.
Who knows, it may come out better than I thought. I pretty much live on youtube and watch speed paints constantly.
So I may watch some just to help me ease into it.
Starting is always the hardest part in art frankly. Like drawing hands for the first time, painting for the first time, even posting
your art work for the first time. But once you do it becomes less scary.
I got into spice when i tried the wendy's spicy chicken sandwich back in 2017-2018 when i was taking my GED classes.
My grandma would take us out to lunch and i thought it looked tasty and got tired of regular burger.
So ever since then i am all fired up for the spice. I don't like jalapeno spice but prefer buffalo spice.
