".........." Ash was silent, before sighing.

"I suppose..." he said.

He then started to slowly take some more food and eat it, but it was clear the weight of his past was heavy on his shoulders.

"...hey..." he then mumbled.

"It's... um... nevermind." he muttered.

"But... sorry if I'm a burden." he apologised.

"I want to be helpful, but I don't want to drag you down."

"Ash, what do you want to say?" She asked, her voice curious, kind.

"And you aren't a burden. Please, don't worry about that. I rather enjoy your company."

He then smiled at her, though there was a little sadness to it.

"But you... enjoy my company?" he asked.

"I'm not human, some would argue I shouldn't care, but I do." She continued.

"It's .. others of my kind would consider it a fault, hoenstly." She added with a shrug.

"But alas. I'm a rebel. And you should be too."

"A rebel?" he asked.

"One who opposes the norms that they've been raised with." Rylie explained.

Ash then paused... and thought.

"A rebel..." he repeated.

"I... I like that." he admitted.

"Maybe I should be a rebel!" he exclaimed with a smile.

'Just don't rebel against me, you hear?" Rylie asked with a light laugh.

"You may very well regret it." She added with a light sigh.

"Regardless. I grabbed some fresh clothing for you from the lost and found stash that Az has." She added, motioning to the side where she'd neatly folded and placed the clothing.

"As for footwear, we'll have to stop by one of the shops to grab some for you at some point."

Ash flinched a bit at her 'regret' comment, and quickly looked at the clothing, before nodding.

"All right." he replied.

"Thank you." he said.

"And... footwear?" he asked.

"I mean, you don't have to, I'm used to being barefoot." he told her, before pausing.

"But... if you want to, I won't stop you." he quickly said.

It seemed like he was already learning that Rylie was nice, and that she was doing this because she did, indeed, want to.

But he then shrugged.

"I can wear footwear." he said.

"I mean, I'm supposed to, right? That's... just something that's expected?" he went on.

"And bloody feet would do that..." he admitted, scratching the back of his head slightly.

". . . of coruse it was that waste of air." She growled.

"Sadly, my range isn't so good that I could kill her from here. If you ever learn where she is, let me know. I'll go there and kill her for you." She addfed.

"Ever heard of a 'dullahan'?" She asked, her voice curious. If he did, then it would make this easier, but if he hadn't it wouldn't be a huge issue.

"Woooooah..." he said.

"...wait.." he then said after a pause.

"Gold?" he asked.

"Why?" he asked her.

"Why keep gold away from you?" he wondered.

Rylie could see that he bore no ill will from all these inquiries... he merely wished to know.

"Same kind of deal. If any gold touches me, I'll ... well, vanish for a bit. Similar to a ghost." She added.

"It won't kill me, but it's a repellent."

He then continued eating, before it was quickly gone.

"Ah, right." Rylie started before directing him to where the proper location was.

A couple of months later, they stepped into a tavern, intending to get a bite to eat before continuing on. Rylie held the door open as Ash stepped in, before sighing as she followed, not entirely sure what it was that she was to make regarding all this. She really hadn't expected to have a child travelling with her, but he hadn't any issues with it.

And his company was nice, she wasn't going to lie about that.
