Some of the patrons already there gave the two of them cursive looks, but went back to what they were doing. Seemed like they were minorly perturbed by someone new stepping inside, but didn't care enough to actually DO anything about it.

Ash was silent, and just looked around, as they approached the bar.

"Hello, there." the man behind the counter greeted them.

"What can I do for you?" he asked.

"Here to wet your whistle, or fill up the tank?"

"Looking for something filling." Rylie answered with a soft smile.

"The boy and I haven't had anything worthwhile to eat for about a week and we're famished." She continued.

"Throw your best food at me, price is no object." She paused a moment.

"Ash likes bear. If you happen to have any. I will pay a premium price for premium food."

The man raised his eyebrow, but she could see the smile in his eyes when she mentioned price was no object.

"Yes, Ma'am." he responded.

"You go on and take a seat, your food will be brought out to you." he told her.

He then stepped away and into the back, presumably to tell the cook about it.

Ash, meanwhile, was looking around.

"...guess they're wary of us because we're strangers..." he mumbled.

Rylie sighed lightly as they sat down, and Ash said what he did.

"I hope that's all it is." She then said. He could hear the distrust there though, the question was why.

Not that she'd tell him, of course. She'd deny it overall.

"I do wonder what they'll bring. I kinda left it open."

Ash nodded.

"I know." he replied.

"I'm curious as well." he said.

He then looked around some, before shrinking down a little.

"Mmm, they really don't like us being here, but it seems like they won't do anything about it." he told her quietly.

It was at that point, the man from behind the bar approached with some fresh bread, some fresh fruit, and a tankard of what looked to be juice.

"To start off." he told Rylie.

"Thank you." Rylie said cordially.

"May I inquire as to what this is though?" She then asked.

"the kid may have an allergy." She then added, hoping it would be enough. She didn't drink anything herself, really, it was purely for Ash and his benefit.

"Freshly baked bread, fruit from the trees in the orchard outside, and the juice is apple." the man responded.

He then gave a few more specifics when it came to the fruit.

"Is that all right?" he asked.

Meanwhile, Ash was still looking around, but stopped and grabbed a bite of bread.

"...mmm." he said.

"This IS really good." he told Rylie.

"Apple? Not a problem then. Thank you." rylie said with a smile and a nod. After he'd left, she sighed lightly.

"Do you want to stay in town for a couple days or head off again quickly" She then asked after a couple of seconds. It wasn't hard to tell that he had a say in it, sincerely st that.

Ash was silent for a moment, before opening his mouth, but he didn't get a chance to say anything, as someone approached.

"Pardon me." he said.

"I can tell we're making you uncomfortable, and I wish to apologise." he said further.

"But actions speak louder than words." he went on.

"So to make up for it, I'll help lighten the load on paying for your food." he finished.

With that, he took out a small coin bag that was loosely tied, and dropped it onto the table, causing the string to come undone, the bag to open...

...and for about 7 gold coins to come spilling out of it.

Rylie was silent for a moment before smiling softly.

"Thank you." She said, her voice kind, appreciative.

]"It isn't necessary, but I certainly appreciate the gesture." Shea dded before pausing.

"Perhaps you can help me out with some information. Is there anything fun to do in this town?"

The man picked up one of the coins.

"There's a few things." he said.

"A theatre. There's also a park." he went on.

"But see, nobody here can truly make a decision." he admitted with a chuckle...though there was a darkness to it.

"We all just... flip a coin." he finished.

With that, he flipped the gold coin he had picked up... but it was clearing arching towards Rylie, and looked like it would hit her square on her chest.

When Rylie saw the coin arching toward her, she froze. Ash could easily see the fear in her face and posture for a second before bringing a hand up. The coin hit her arm, hit the fabric that was covering it, thankfully.

The next thing that was heard from her, was a sharp breath.

". . . Ashley... do me a favour, will you?" Rylie asked, her voice sounding different than before, perhaps rougher, almost crueler.

". . . burn this fuckers hands beyond recognition, please." There was something to her voice as she brought her arm down, the coin stuck to the fabric. It wasn't a surprise to her, though.

Before Ash could say anything, the entire rest of the tavern all stood up.

"...an ambush." Ash said under his breath.

The man then grabbed a few more coins, and tossed them over towards Rylie... just as Ash sent a stream of black fire towards him, causing his hand to catch fire.

This caused the man to yelp in surprise and pain, as he fell to the floor.

"Miss Rylie!" Ash then exclaimed, when he realised the coins had been thrown.

Rylie, again, managed to dodge the coins. Non touched her skin, and that was the main goal here. Admittedly, she tried to void that, and if she could she would have avoided them entirely. Sadly, she couldn't completely avoid them. She felt the effects of more, and Ash was able to see her complexion pale notably as it happened.

She let out a few curses in Celtic before getting to her feet. Or at least trying to.

She felt more gold thrown at her, but they were largely drunk it seemed, or at least couldn't aime well, so she was easily able to avoid any hitting her skin.

It was enough to bring her back to the seat though. She coud barely breathe for the moment, as it was a bit of a shock to her system for the moment.

Ash could see people throwing coins at her, and he felt anger.

Anger welling up inside him, that he hadn't felt for a long time.

"Stop it... stop it..." he said quietly.

"STOP IIIIIIT!" he then yelled at the top of his lungs, as he jumped onto the table and started firing bursts of black fire around. Those that they connected with fell to the floor, clutching at where they had been hit.

And their screams were... not what Rylie expected.

It almost sounded like they were screaming about their souls being in pain.

Rylie was completely silentas she heard what she did. She didn't see the flames at first, as she hadn't been looking up, had her eyes closed and the like. Once she saw waht was going on, she was stunned. Completely and utterly stunned.

". . . Ashley..." She said quietly, putting two and two together, but not daring to ask. She almost didn't dare believe it, either. There was no way tha the was what she was starting to suspect.

As another of the attackers came in to deal with Rylie, he also opted to try and deal with the child that was causing problems as well. He just punched Ash solidly, right in the back of the head. Of course, he didn't know anything abotu the kid.

Ash stumbled forward a bit... and Rylie could see his eyes starting to fade a bit, like he was losing consciousness... before they suddenly snapped back to being 'there' and alert.

He planted his feet, whirled his torso around, and shot a blast of black fire into the man's face, causing him to scream in agony as he clutched at it, falling over and rolling on the floor.

The others took unconscious steps back, but Ash was now full-on attacking.

He fired orbs of his fire at them, and while some managed to dodge them, most connected, and they were soon on the floor as well.

"Stop!" Ash yelled.

"Stop it, stop it, STOP IT!" he shouted.

"LEAVE US ALONE!!!"

It didn't last long before Rylie laid a hand on Ash's shoulder. It felt ... different though, warmer, than it had before.

"Ashley... stop." She said.

"Let's just get out of here." She added as she got to her feet, having recovered from the initial shock with the gold. For now, the effect was still there, but she wasn't recoiling from the shock of the change any longer.

Ash looked about ready to attack HER when she spoke to him, but he stopped abruptly.

"Ah... ah..." he stammered.

"I..." he started to say, before his expression changed to horrified.

"Oh, no..." he said quietly.

"I... I did... bad, didn't I?" he asked her.

"I'm sorry..." he apologised, sounding ready to cry.

"It's all right." She said.

"We need to talk about it later, but it's all right." She assured him.

"For now, we do need to get out of here before more come though, all right?"
