Aria read quietly in her room. After a while, if anyone were to go in and check on her, she had fallen asleep, Gambit curled up beside her and her book beside her.

When dinner was served, the king and queen were surprised to hear that Aria had fallen to sleep. "We thought you were with her." The queen said to her son who was eating in silence. "Well I wasn't. I don't need to be with her all the time. I don't think she'd like that anyway." he said quietly, sighing. "Sometimes I don't even think she really wants to get married." he added quietly. "What makes you think that?" his father asked seriously. Lyle shrugged and shook his head. "I don't know." he whispered. "Lyle dear, I'm sure she wants to. Why else would she be doing all this?" his mother asked. "Because she has to and because I was the one who picked her out...but maybe she isn't ready for this kind of lifestyle with all the rules. She still wants to have fun and I don't."

Aria had woken up and realized she was late for dinner. She was about to enter the dining room to join everyone when she had stopped, hearing the conversation. Hearing that Lyle really thought that broke her heart. Tears started to fill her eyes. After letting out a soft gasp, she turned and ran back upstairs, her appetite gone now, and back into her room. She closed the door behind her and leaned against it, sinking to the floor. She wrapped her arms around her knees and buried her head against them as she started to cry.

Hearing a gasp, the royal family looked up but saw no one there. The king looked at his wife then looked at Lyle. "You really think that she isn't ready for this?" he asked seriously. Lyle nodded. "Aria isn't used to this lifestyle. She's used to working for what she has, she's used to slouching when she eats. She's used to resting her elbows on the table and pulling out her own chair. She's not used to all the rules. I just don't want her doing something if it makes her uncomfortable." Lyle explained. His father sighed and sipped his drink. "Lyle...you need to really talk to her. That's something I don't see you ever do, whatever concerns you have, you need to run them by her. The reports her teachers have given me have shown that she's capable of this lifestyle. You need to have some faith in her." His father informed, taking a bite of his food.

Aria cried softly, unable to stop her tears. She thought things had been going so well. Maybe she was wrong. She didn't know what to do now. Gambit went over to her and nuzzled her gently, looking at her sadly. Aria looked down at him,"I'm sorry, boy." She said softly,"Maybe the royal life isn't for us. I had always thought Lyle was the one for me. I love him with all my heart. But hearing those words hurt, it hurts he doubts how much I want this."

After dinner was over, the three of them were sitting in the parlor room. The queen decided this was something serious that needed to be discussed. "Should I go bring Aria?" she asked her husband. "Go check on her. If she wants to talk to Lyle she'll come on her own. I'll stay here and talk to him." The king answered. The queen nodded and left up the stairs to Aria's room. She could already hear her crying and frowned as she knocked on the door. "Dear, could you open the door?" she asked. Lyle sat across from his father and rested his hands perfectly on his lap, a tired look on his face. "I just don't want her to regret this choice father. It's not something small. This is a big step she's taking and I just don't want her to think that she was forced into it. Once it's official, there's no going back. Which is why I haven't even given her a ring yet. I don't want to tie her down. If she wants to go have fun then she should go and do that. I don't want to be the one to keep her from doing what she wants to do, but I also won't tolerate her breaking the rules either."

Aria really didn't want to. She just wanted to sit there and cry until she fell asleep. She slowly got up and opened the door,"I'm starting to wonder why I'm doing all these classes and things if he honestly doubts me so much." She murmured quietly,"He talks about rules all the time now, like that's all he cares about." She looked up at the Queen,"The last thing I want is to make a fool out of anyone, Your Highness, but no one can go through life without a little bit of fun. " She looked down,"Lyle use to know that. Or I thought he did anyway."

The queen sighed softly and gently brushed some hair from Aria's face. "I thought you were taking these classes because you wanted to?" she said. "Dear, I'll just say one thing, He was brought up differently from other boys. His version of fun is reading, playing the piano, a game of chess and horseback riding. He doesn't go around running with other boys and playing tag. He doesn't skip rocks on the water or flirt with girls. All his life, he has lived a strict and structured lifestyle and you can't blame him for that. It's the way he was raised. You know this Aria. You have known him since you were both kids. I'm not saying that I condone if he treats you wrong, he knows better than to do that. All I am saying is that if you have concerns, you need to run them past him. If you really want to make this work, you need to let him know. My husband is telling him the same thing. You both need to sit down and talk. Not argue, talk calmly. Figure something out if you both really want to make this work. Aria dear, this is his world you're entering if you agree to marrying him. Please keep that in mind. Now then, if you want to sleep I'll be going, I don't want to keep you up dear. Goodnight dear." The queen said softly before turning and walking down the hall and down the stairs.

Aria had listened to the queen speak and nodded quietly,"Thank you, Your Highness." She said softly, watching her go. After a few moments, she quietly closed her door. She did want things to work, but knowing Lyle doubted her made it hard to want to talk to him. She walked over to her dresser and pulled out a nightgown. She changed and quietly crawled into bed, her head hurting. She wished she knew what to do.

"She's probably sleeping now. No point in waking her up." Lyle said. "She is, so I wouldn't disturb her. Perhaps if you're lucky she hasn't drifted off yet." The queen said as she approached them both. "Come on dear, we need to sleep. We've done our job, let's leave Lyle and Aria to figure things out on their own." she said, kissing her son's cheek. "Honesty is key." she whispered to him before leading her husband up the stairs and into their room. Sighing softly, Lyle watched his parents leave before walking over to the nearest window and looking outside. It was dark and hard to see anything but the stars looked beautiful as they always did. "Honesty.." Lyle said to himself. He would have liked to play the piano now but it was late and he was tired so he headed up the stairs to his room instead.

Aria looked over at Gambit as he came over and snuggled with her. She held him close,"Maybe I should figure out what I should do if this isn't going to work." She said quietly to him,"I really want this to. But I hate that he doubts me." She let out a soft sigh and closed her eyes, hoping to feel better in the morning.

Lyle walked into the bathroom, washed his face and brushed his teeth. He then walked back into his room and got dressed for bed before turning off the lights and laying down. He pulled the blanket closer and turned his back to the door, facing the window which had the curtains drawn. It wasn't long before Lyle fell to sleep.

The next morning, Aria woke up and decided she needed some time away from the castle so she decided to go horseback riding. She went into the bathroom, got cleaned up and then changed into riding clothes. She still had her horse from childhood, a gift given to her by her parents before they had passed on, and she was very attached to her. She made sure Gambit had all the things he needed before kissing his head,"I'll be back in a little while, boy." She said, petting his head before leaving her room.

Lyle had gotten dressed and was walking down the stairs when heard her door open. Looking up, he saw Aria and what she was wearing. He didn't need to ask to know that she was going out to have her fun. He didn't say anything, instead he left to the kitchen and took the coffee that was given to him before joining his parents in the dining room.

Aria had noticed he had gone into the kitchen without a word and sighed quietly, going down the stairs. She crept passed the dinning room and headed outside through the kitchen, wanting to get to the stable quickly. "Maybe he should marry Claudette." She murmured as she walked,"She is more suited to this life in the first place." She went out into the stable to her horse, Shayla, a beautiful brown mare. She brushed her gently, just wanting to spend time with someone she knew loved her, as she was so unsure of everything now.

"Good morning Lyle, where's Aria?" The king asked, seeing that only his son had made it to breakfast. "She left to go horseback riding." Lyle answered. "Really? Without eating breakfast?" The queen asked and sighed. "She didn't eat dinner yesterday and now she's not eating breakfast. The girl needs to eat. Does she plan on starving herself?" she asked, making Lyle laugh. "Mother, Aria isn't that kind of girl. She has no reason to starve herself. She just wants to have fun, I'm sure she'll return eventually." he said, eating his breakfast quietly.

Aria rode off on her horse, galloping away from everything for a while. She spent the day taking paths she never saw before, wanting to explore a bit outside the confines of the house. But, as it started to get dark and she worked her way back, she realized that she was unable to tell which way to go,"Oh dear..." She murmured, realizing she was lost,"Oh dear, what to do...?" She got down off of her house, trying to see if she could get her barings. But she had no luck. She looked over at Shayla,"Oh girl, I think I got us in another mess." She murmured.

Aria hadn't shown up to lunch or dinner that day. Lyle had constantly looked out the window in hopes of seeing her return but to no luck. Claudette had called to come over but he had refused. He knew what she was up to, her way of comforting would just be a plan to get Aria to be jealous and Lyle didn't want that. He didn't want Claudette in his home ever again. "She should have been back hours ago." Lyle said seriously, his narrowed eyes staring out the window. "I'll go look for her and bring her back, maybe she got hurt." Without another word, Lyle ran out to the stables and readied Hades quickly before getting on and getting Hades to run as fast as he could. Hopefully he'd find her and hopefully she was okay. "Aria!" he called out.

Aria had kept close to her horse, starting to get cold. She was starving, cursing herself for being so stubborn. She was about to give up hope when she thought she heard Lyle's voice,"Lyle....?" She called out, looking around frantically,"Lyle?"

Lyle slowed his horse to a stop when he thought he heard something. "Aria?" he called out. Then he heard her call his name. Where was she? He looked around, realizing she was a lot farther from home than he had thought. She had probably taken a different path. "Aria! Don't move okay? I'm going to find you and take you back! Just stay where you are!" he called out, getting Hades to start running again.
