"...barely." he mumbled.

"I'll get you to the medical wing." he then told her.

"Because... whatever did this, could very well have killed you." he said further, before looking at the mark that had been scorched onto her.

"...that doesn't look good." he said.

"Looks... vaguely ominous..."

She was completely silent, barely even seeming to move for the moment. She wasn't even breathing, really.

She didn't say anything know, couldn't. What she managed to say before had been one hell of a task.

As he lifted her and took her to one of the beds in the next room, she was silent.

"th.... thanks." She managed after a second or two. Her voice sounded odd, but that wasn't too surprising. She'd just been shocked pretty extremely, after all.

.... What the hell happened? Where.... her thoughts were quite disjointed, and incomplete, but she knew what she was thinking, what she was wanting to know. If she were to try and speak it, and she knew that wouldn't go well.

So she stayed silent for the moment.

"Hey, it's all right." he responded.

"Just try and relax." he told her.

"What happened was traumatic, to say the least, but you seem to have made it out alive." he went on.

"And the medical wing will keep it that way." he said further.

"What's the last thing you remember?" he then asked.

She didn't say anything for a few seconds.

"I..." She started before pausing, grateful to have all the memories from the others within her.

"I was gonna do up some food."

"All right then." he responded.

"From what I can tell, you experienced a... well, a massive electrical shock from using the toaster oven." he told her.

"The toaster oven is fried, there's a massive burn mark around the outlet, you were knocked into the fridge, and you have a nasty reminder of it on your hand." he went on.

"....left a dent in the fridge, too." he then informed her.

"But just relax. I... well... hm." he muttered.

"I'm sure Ebony will be okay, and you will as well." he said.

"All of you."

"Yeah, probably." She agreed with a nod bfore sighing.

He might have been able to see her life aura(s), but he was certainly no mind-reader. And while he was decently perceptive, sometimes things slipped over him when he was focusing on something else.

In this case, he was so relieved that she had survived the electric shock, that he missed her sigh at the end, and didn't notice that subtle clues in her attitude and voice would indicate that her agreement with him was... possibly not sincere.

So he just smiled, and nodded in response.

"Heh, good." he said.

"This place is already insane enough as is from the lockdown, I don't need anything happening to you." he told her.

"We all need to stick together at this point."

"I know... Thanks Nate." She said after a few seconds.

"For now, how about we make sure my heart isn't about to unexpectedly give out." She added with a light laugh. "'cause that would suck." That much was true, she didn't want to doie.

.... although one might be able to argue that I've started... she thought with a mental sigh, not liking that, and hoping that it wasn't what she was thinking.

Nathan nodded in response.

"Of course." he replied.

"I'll check all your vitals and make sure to monitor them closely." he told her.

"I won't let anything happen to you." he then declared, before pausing.

"...well, anything more, anyway." he clarified.

"I'd normally get Dr. Edwards to tend to this, but she's got several cases she's looking after at the same time right now." he then sighed.

"Yeah... I know, we've beena bit busy in here." She responded with a light sigh.

"And I realise I'll likely be fine. I'm still conscious and coherent, so I don't think there are any issues, but... that felt like mana. So yeah. I'd rather being checked to verify." She added after a few seconds.

"And once I know, I'll get back to work, as I know that there are probably going to be more people coming in during the lockdown."

Nate was silent for a momet, and then sighed.

"I get that feeling too." he said.

"Because yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if that was mana." he admitted.

"That reaction was... well, it was explosive. And that's not normal." he reasoned.

He then shook his head and proceeded to check all her vitals.

"This... is probably a targeted attack."

"I have absolutely no idea." She commented with a heavy sigh.

"I wish I did." She added.

"None of us know what's to come." She then said before sighing lightly.

"However, I have a really bad feeling about this. I'm not psychic, but..... This is going to change the very foundation of those within these walls. It's not going to go well, at all."

"...eh?" he muttered.

"That... that's ominous." he said.

"And the way you said it makes me think that this won't be ending well in the slightest." he went on.

He was then silent, and looked around.

"Maybe... this is finally it for the Unit."

"I just... I don't know. I really wish I had any sort of idea, but I don't think it'll be anything good." She paused a moment, sighing.

"However, I do hope that we can recover, whatever happens."

"...but it scares me to think that this might be it." he admitted.

"For the most part, it seems like you're all right, in terms of vitals and such."

She could hear it in his voice. He didn't want to go, didn't want to leave her. But she was all right, and he would be needed in the rest of the medical wing. So he did need to go, and help.

He then sighed, and looked at her.

"Take care." he said.

"...love you." he finished.

"Love you too, Nate. Now go do your work. I'll see you soon." After he left, she just sighed, she didn't know what it was that she was to make of this, what had happened? Why was it uncomfortably silent in her own head, as well?

Sadly, there was no way for her to get an answer to that anytime soon. She'd have to see if she could find something, anything, regarding it though.

Maybe the book collection in the building would help.

Nate left the room, shutting the door behind him, and paused.

He then made his way to the break room and checked the outlet and the toaster oven. Once he'd done so, and saw nothing of note, he made his way to where Angela's office was, knocking on the door.

When he was beckoned to enter, he did so.

"Doctor Edwards?" he addressed her.

"We have another victim of an electrical shock." he said, before telling her it was Ebony, and then informing her of everything he knew.

"She's currently in room D." he finished.

"What the hell is going on in this building." Angela asked, knowing that he couldn't answer that. He could hear the annoyance to her voice, as well. Quite clearly at that.

"That's six people down with that." She added, "And three dead."

"Be careful, Nate. Just.. be careful, ok?"
