My favourite museum is an interactive science museum in Cardiff. It's aimed at kids, but it's fun for an adult too. Lots of things to play with etc.

The other one I remember from a field trip was in 4th grade. We learned about our state history that year, so we went to the old and new state capitol buildings and then stopped by a museum as well. I think it was a museum related to state history

There's a free-to-visit museum in the city that I visited once - I wish I could go again, but it's an hour drive...

Also yeah, a lot of actual cowboys were Mexican, Black, etc - I was hoping to learn more about that history, but instead, got white cowboys :T
It's pretty easy to see the connection though, once you compare traditional Mexican clothing to traditional cowboy clothing :0

I never knew that about Cowboys. I guess my understanding of American history is very whitewashed.

@sunny: Yes, DC is full of good museums. If you ever got there, you could also easily go north and hit a lot of our original states - Philadelphia is only about 1.5-2 hrs driving time north from DC and NYC is only another couple hours north from there. Boston is about 2 or 3 hours drive north of NYC...

@0v7: Hey - that sounds like a good museum to visit

@icedchai: well, you're at work, right? It's natural that you get distracted by work if that's what you're supposed to be doing - lol!

We don't have many cowboys around here (Oklahoma) honestly - they still exist, just not as much as before :0
(Shout out to that cowboy wearing a face mask on his cowboy hat lol)

I remember one exhibit where you walked through a tunnel that had spinning walls, and it a it made you feel like you were going to fall over. There were also water exhibits to play with, robots, a submarine, a unicycle you could ride across a cable, and so on

Yes, there's a good bit of history here that has been whitewashed - the cowboy story is definitely among the worst, imo

The last museum I was in I think was in Rome, actually.

@sunny: Yes, you could easily do a whole tour of the US east coast! The states / major cities up that way are small and quite close together

@icedchai: yes - fine art is another that's definitely white-washed and male-centric. How many female fine artists do people know? Not many...
