Bear? I was running 5Ks for a while but it's really hard to keep that conditioning up when it's 500*F over the summer (& I can't/didn't run at night).

We have a bear in a neighborhood that likes to come up to people's homes to dig through the trash cans.

I spent a lot of years in the mountains, hiking near my house = Bears, elk and Moose. and Moose are the scariest out of the 3.

I don't have the other two, just the bear. So I stopped jogging, I'd rather not be mauled to death.

If it's a black bear, you have nothing to worry about. Brown bear on the other hand is a lot more territorial. :d
Black bear are just like... oversized raccoons. They scare off easily. XDD

lol, I understand. :p

I have a family of deer that live in our yard and they're gradually getting more aggressive. My dogs keep chasing them out. So now the deer are some-what standing their guard. The fawn is now turning into a buck and he's stamped the ground a couple of times now to assert dominance which is funny right now because once my dog gets within 50 feet of him he bolts.
I Hoping there won't be a day he acts and tries to stomp my dogs.

I'm surprised the bear hasn't been relocated if it's digging through trash cans in a neighborhood, AMA.

All of those are really big animals, Koah! :3 But yes, usually, unless you antagonize an animal or tread in it's turf (and it's very territorial or protecting young), you don't usually have too many issues.

Around here we usually have deer, raccoons, armadillos and alligators of course, opossums, coyotes and a few other things (there has been coyote dung dropped in our yard). I have seen a tamed boar roaming through the neighborhood (apparently it's somebody's pet? -shrugs-) and I think there's a FL Panther or Bobcat running around this area too. I don't think there are bear nearby, but it's hard to tell, and there is a nature preserve close to us. :3

Florida is such a weird place to me! lol!
We have one friend from Florida that frequently visits our house and his Florida stories are unique. You're making it sound like a crazy place.

@Wildfire: My 'neighborhood' is a few scattered homes deep in the woods. So there's no point in trying to relocate the poor thing. It'll just be able to return fairly easily. We've had bears around here for years now.

As somebody who has lived here for a long time now, but who spent most of her life living elsewhere, Florida is very different from most of the rest of the country (New Orleans, etc. are excepted - they're even more strange than FL! XD ). It's a special thing the first time you see a 6' alligator walking down the middle of your street (or on your lanai... or in your side yard... all of which have happened to me)!!

@Another Movie Addict: Yeah, that makes sense. Kind of like trying to relocate some of the wildlife here when the preserve is only a couple miles away... where are they going to put them if they were to try??
