Sharp just smiled to himself.

'Seems it worked.' he thought.

"Now." he said. "What happened?" he asked.

Nate told him what he told Alicja, causing Sharp to furrow his brow a little, and cup his chin.

"Hmmm." he mumbled.

"That is... distressing and concerning." he commented.

"And it seems Jordan is far from out of the woods, given what you've seen." he added.

Alicja was silent before wincing suddenly, abruptly, grasping her head.

"Ah!" It was full of pain.

"Dammit! I swear, sometimes I can't catch a break." She half growled before getting to her feet.

"I'll be back." Withthat she left the room, leaving her phone because she didn't think ofit. She knew that Nate would know what was going on though, he'd witnessed it enough.

Both men watched her go, and Nate just sighed heavily.

"Great." he muttered.

"...nothing to concern ourselves with, yes?" Sharp asked.

"Given her reaction, no." Nate confirmed.

"All right then." Sharp said.

"You feel you need any more time for recovery?" he asked Nate.

"Actually, I think I can get back to work ASAP." Nate told him.

'Sometimes I even amaze myself.' Hal thought with a hidden smirk.

When Hal left the room, he was met by someone.

"That girl, Jordan? She's in trouble." He heard. The voice was sharper than Alicja's, easily identifiably so. When he looked to her, he found the slightly green eyes betraying who was.

"What do you know?" she then asked. "Because ... if I'm right..." She trailed off before sighing.

Hal crossed his hands over his chest.

"What do I know?" he asked.

"Enough." he said.

"Enough to know that what you say is, indeed, correct." he went on.

"But let's confirm it." he continued.

"What do YOU think it is?" he asked.

".... A rarity." She answered.

"A twice blessed hunter, One that is going to lose herself." She added.

"Skip the crypticness." Hal stated.

"... she's turning into a nexus."

"Damn it." Hal cursed through gritted teeth.

"I wanted Vincent to be SO wrong. Just this once." he snarled.

"This really IS bad." he then muttered.

"At least Vincent's spending every waking moment to try and find a way to stop this." he went on.

"And I need to devote resources to it as well."

"Sharp... you can't stop it." Rose told him.

"Encrae did tests, she broke more than I'm sure you realise." She continued.

"There's a new one every... 2 or 3 centuries. Most end up killing themselves before they change, being hunters and all, and it stops it... or they change in the same places, where there already is one." She cotninued.

"Encrae sped so many up in her attempts to explore them."She paused, shuddering.

"Why else do you think that the nexus she was guarding was SO strong?" She asked.

"But it's not stoppable. Not now.... possibly not ever. and we can't time travel to find out."

Again, Hal cursed.

A string of curses. In various languages. But it was quiet. Only she heard it, but she could hear the sheer anger and frustration emanating from his tone. He did NOT like what he just heard.

"Then we'll use every ounce of MY power." he told her.

"We'll squeeze every last drop out of me TO stop this." he went on... but before she could respond, she saw that he knew what he'd said was impossible.

"...even though my power pales in comparison to that of a nexus." he lamented.

"In the face of one forming, even -I- am powerless."

"... The only way I think that you could even hope to do it... is a paradox upon itself." Rose commented. When Hal looked to her quizzically, she just sighed.

"... or a neverending cycle. You know, I've never been able to truly figure out the different between the two." She added, reminding him about how she wasn't the smartest for things like that.

"Anyway, if you used the boost you'd get from her, as she'd be the strongest mana source on the planet for the moment, you could probably do it. But doing so wound speed it up, and once you started, it would nix the nexus temporarily, if you didn't succeed." She told him.

"Again, Encrae tried. Remember, she had your friend there for awhile."

"..." Sharp was silent for a moment, before sighing.

"You're right." he said.

"It would be a paradox to try and use her mana boosting capabilities to try and rid her of her mana boosting capabilities." he agreed. "I get the feeling some innate self-preservation would take over, and she'd stop allowing me to access it... even if she didn't intend to do so." he went on.

He then paused and thought about it.

"But could I use ANOTHER nexus' power to stop the one forming in her...?" he then wondered aloud.

"Wait, no, that won't work." he then realised. "Either the subconscious self-preservation would kick in and she'd run... or her being in such close proximity to a nexus whose capabilities are being actively taken advantage of, could have drastic repercussions and/or consequences." he went on.

"Ie: the nexus in her tries to interfere with the nexus I would be using, and it would either try and attack myself, which would surely end in my death. Or it tries to overpower the other nexus, which would end in a catastrophic world event."

Rose just sighed, heavily.

"therein lies the problem." She commented.

"As I said, Encrae tried." She added before pausing and biting her lip.

"Actually, I can ... do you want to stay here, or shall I meet you up in your office? I can ensure, I think, that you can get more information about the process, and what Encrae did... if you want it." There was a hesitation to her words, her posture, though.

"..." Hal was silent for a moment, narrowing his eyes.

"My office." he told her.

"I can see that you have reservations about this information, though." he then said.

"I give you this one chance to back out of it, if you feel you cannot discuss it." he continued, as he walked past her.

"Follow me, or don't. But whatever you make, is one you cannot back out of." he finished, continuing on his way.

Rose just sighed.

"I'll follow in a minute." She said simply.

"I'm just going to let them know here I'm stepping away." She added to his retreating back.She sighed, heavily, before stepping back into the room with Nate. She wanted to give him a heads up that she was stepping away and whatnopt, since he may have been expecting her to return.

After she did that, she let Angela know, before heading upstairs to Hal's office. She told the receptionist that she was there to see him, but gave the name Cameron, and was told to take a seat, to which she did.

"I'm sorry Cam." She said quietly.

When she was beckoned enter, she did so and immediately Hal could feel a bit of a power boost. It was nowhere near as strong as what he suspected it was with Jordan, but it was there. His own mana was a few degrees more portent and the like.

And the one in front of him had the crispest green eyes he'd ever seen.

"Hello."

Hal was stunned for a moment, feeling what he did, and seeing what he saw.

These were the eyes of someone he'd never seen before in Alicja's body.

"...Hello." he responded.

"Take a seat." he told her.

"So. Cameron, eh?" he asked her.

"I'm guessing you're one of the more... quiet... ones within Alicja?" he asked further.

"I am." Was their answer.

"Cameron Blake." Followed.

"And... I am more quiet due to how I hate this place, what happened to me, and where I am." There was venom to the voice, though.

"Have you lived in the body of a woman? Fucking hate it." They paused, sighed, and shook their head.

"Regardless, not the point. Rose filled me in. Ask your questions, I will answer what I can."

Sharp raised an eyebrow as Cameron said all they did.

"Uh... huh." he said.

"I'll take your word on living in the body of a woman being difficult." he said further.

"And, let us not beat around the bush." he then suggested.

"Is it true that there is no way to halt, circumvent, or otherwise stop the process?" he asked.

"Or is there any way we can have it that Jordan survives this?"

Cameron just sighed.

"It MAY be something that can be slowed, but even then, not likely at all." He answered.

"I know how to speed it up, and I can do that easily, but at the same time, I realise that is not what you want." He paused a moment, seeming to be thinking about it.

"The only way I think it could effectively be stopped, and even then it's a risk, is to remove her mana." He then said. "Every last drop of it. Rose told me that she's already dead anyway, being a vampire. So remove the mana completely and it can't covert to a nexus."

Sharp just gave him a pointed glare.

"No, speeding it up is NOT what I want." he confirmed.

"And while your plan has merit, and I can see how that would work, the big problem is that without her mana, she's a hunter." he told him. "And a vampiric hunter, as well." he added.

"I think we both know nothing good will come from that." he stated.

"Is there any way you'd be willing to work with us to find some kind of solution? Perhaps alchemical?" he asked.
