Jaden seemed to be honestly frightened right now.
"Ah... I..." he stammered.
"I... uh... that is... I mean..." he stuttered further, before sighing.
"Please don't tell anyone?" he pleaded quietly.
"I would lose all my cred with my goth and emo audience." he told her.
"I may not like them, but they're kinda my bread and butter, as far as my show is concerned."

Desiree just laughed lightly.
"Don't worry about it. If there's one thing I am good at... it's keeping secrets." She assured him.
"Besides. I'm sure you wouldn't spread that I'm deaf, so why would I spread that you have far more hair than what you put out there?"
"I haven't spread the word yet." Jaden replied.
"And I have no intention of doing so." he assured her.
"So... thanks." he said further.
"My hair is my secret shame as far as my public image is concerned." he admitted.
"But I love how it looks when in private." he continued.
"And I couldn't have it, if not for my portal mana." he added.
"And I have no intention of doing so." he assured her.

"My hair is my secret shame as far as my public image is concerned." he admitted.
"But I love how it looks when in private." he continued.
"And I couldn't have it, if not for my portal mana." he added.
"I can completely understand that." Desiree commented.
"It's something that I'm not sure what to make of it overall, but I really can understand it."
"It's too bad, really." She added with a shrug.
"Anyway, you should head out to do your adulting."
Jaden just sighed.
"I know." he replied.
He then reached up, and tried to pull the kitten off... but found the claws had been dug in.
"....Desiree?" he said.
"Little help, please?" he asked.
"REALLY don't want to tear my hat, or hurt him." he reasoned.
"I know." he replied.
He then reached up, and tried to pull the kitten off... but found the claws had been dug in.
"....Desiree?" he said.

"REALLY don't want to tear my hat, or hurt him." he reasoned.
Desiree just laughed before smirking and getting a couple of pictures with her phone - the same phone that Jaden had given her as a congratulations for finding a place.
"Sure thing. Give me a second." She added before heading off. She returned a minute later with a cat toy- a catnip filled stuffed rodent. She got Silver's attention before smirking and tossing it into the other room.
The kitten's eyes widened when it smelled the catnip, and saw the toy thrown into another room.
It then jumped off of Jaden's head, rushing after it, to which the two of them heard tumbling and tussling afterwards.
"Thanks." Jaden said.
He then smiled, and looked at the phone.
"And yeah, have fun with the phone." he told her.
"Should last you a good many years, at least."

He then smiled, and looked at the phone.

"Should last you a good many years, at least."
Desiree just chuckled lightly before sighing.
"Thank you by the way, again." She added.
"It's something that I certainly do appreciate." She then said before sighing lightly.
"Regardless, I will pay you back for at least half of it. I know those are EXTREMELY expensive phones."
Jaden rolled his eyes.
"You don't have to." he said.
"But I've learned not to argue with you on such things." he told her.
"Regardless, talk to you later, Desiree." he said further.
"Say 'Hi' to Rene and Kalin for me."
"You don't have to." he said.
"But I've learned not to argue with you on such things." he told her.
"Regardless, talk to you later, Desiree." he said further.
"Say 'Hi' to Rene and Kalin for me."
"Good boy." Desiree said with a smirk.
"And of course, I will definitely say hello to them for you." She added after a few seconds.
"Now, I really do need to get to the whole unpacking thing." She then said.
"I'll see you later?"
Jaden nodded.
"Yup." he replied.
"See ya later." he told her.
He then looked around, before shrugging, and throwing an inky blob on the wall, watching it expand into a portal.
"Bye for now!" he finished.
He then waved to her and stepped through the portal, the gateway closing behind him.
"Yup." he replied.
"See ya later." he told her.

Desiree chuckled as he left, before shaking her head lightly and getting a start on the whole unpacking thing.
Later that night, she was sitting in one of the chairs that her been bought for her, and sighed as she l0ooked around. There was a lot that she'd managed to unpack, but there was still a lot that she needed to unpack. It was late, and there was more to unpack than she'd expected.
She sat there, looking around, before glancing at the clock.
Maybe it'd be a good idea to start up tomorrow after getting some sleep...
Just as she glanced at the clock, she heard something.
A thumping noise.
But nothing but quiet, afterwards.
It was as though something... or someone... was trying to be careful not to be heard.
She listened further, before she heard the thumping again... only for it to turn more frantic...
...which was when a small ball rolled into the room, with the kitten chasing it, then pouncing on it.

Desiree was silent, not sure what it was that she was supposed to make of this.
"What the..." she muttered before getting to her feet, and heading to where the kitten was, before it ran and hid under a chair. She just shook her head, before looking to where the ball had come from.
. . . I'm not going in without defence. she thought before heading to the kitchen and grabbing a knife. She had no idea what was to come next, and she was honestly a bit uneasy.
With the blade in hand, she made her way into the room and looked around.
When she looked around, she saw... nothing.
Not a thing.
Maybe some things had been knocked about, but that could have been attributed to the kitten being too boisterous with its playing.... right?
However, something seemed... off.
She couldn't say what... but she just felt on-edge.
And everything around her was dead silent.
Not a thing.

Desiree was completely silent before pausing a moment.
Someone is here... I swear... she thought before stepping out of the room, and closing teh door. Once it was closed, she dangled the cat collar she had on the hook by the door, on the handle. It had a bell on it, so she knew she'd hear it if it opened, as long as she kept her headphones on.
Where the hell did I put my phone...? She then wondered as she pat her pockets, wondering if she had put it there.
She didn't find it though.
Just as she started to pat her pockets, she felt someone behind her.
Mostly because they had thrust themselves upon her.
They wrapped an arm around her waist, pinning one of her own arms, and clamped their hand over her mouth and noise.
"....why...?" she heard a voice ask.
"Why didn't you stay gone?" they hissed.
"Why do you just keep appearing again and again!?" they demanded.

Desiree froze.
she knew that voice.
She knew those hands.
And she knew this feeling.
"No..." she managed to say, even though it was quite muffled through his hand.
I gotta tell someone... she thought with a mental cry, knowing no one could help her right now.
She felt her assailants grip tighten, as they pulled her away from where her phone laid.
"....this could have been so much easier..." they told her.
"But you keep coming back..." he growled.
"Why!?" he exclaimed.
"Why do you insist on.. on..." he went on, sputtering slightly, seeming to grow more and more angry at her.
"EXISTING!?" he finally yelled, before throwing her against a nearby wall.

"There is no shame in deterrence. Having a weapon is very different from actually using it." - Ghandi
Desiree hit the wall hard. She didn't know how she could have been prepared for that.
She felt the hook she'd had the collar on behind her head quite well, and marveled at how there was no serious damage, but she'd barely been able to think that. The sheer impact had scattered her brain far too well.
"I... Deryck... I never did... did anything... I've always been ncie to you..." She managed to get out after a few seconds.
