And so they did. They spoke with the man, and he spoke back. He answered their questions, but only gave out so much info. It was enough for them to learn quite a bit, though.
"...so Vanessa Encrae did this to you, because you were a failed test subject. She froze you in time, so to speak, and it getting further 'use' out of you." Zeke summarized.
"If you want to look at it that way." the man responded. "It's not necessarily wrong." he shrugged.
"But there are more out there." Zeke went on.
"I told you how many." the man said. "At least, the ones I'm aware of." he added.
"So... we need to find them and reverse this." Zeke told Aedan.
"We'd rather you didn't do it that way." the man suddenly interjected.

"The only reason I'm not screaming in agony right now is... well... quite frankly, I don't have the energy to." he said frankly.
"So when Azazel smashed those two with a sledgehammer..." Zeke started to say, trailing off at the end.
"...that's like a painless mercy killing for us." the man confirmed.
"Immeasurable pain." he told her.
"The only reason I'm not screaming in agony right now is... well... quite frankly, I don't have the energy to." he said frankly.

As Aedan said what she did, Zeke formed his sword in his hand once more.
"Which is to say, before I grant you a swift death, and end your suffering." he clarified.
"...I do." the man responded.
"All crave sweet blessed sleep. So few will receive it in the near future." he told them, before he started to look like he was going into violent convulsions.
Zeke responded to this by thrusting his blade through the man's chest, causing him to stop moving, slump forward slowly, and then dissipate into small glowing particles.
"Requiescat In Pace." Zeke said, kneeling down on one knee and gently driving the tip of the blade into the floor, in a small bit of prayer for the man's soul.
"Which is to say, before I grant you a swift death, and end your suffering." he clarified.
"...I do." the man responded.

"He still seemed to be of sound mind, so I highly doubt he misspoke to such a degree..." he went on, scratching at his chin a little.
"So I don't think he's referring to some event that will interfere with the cycle of life and death..." he mumbled further.
"I'll have to go through some of my more... celestial... info channels to see if I can't find anything about that." he told her.
"I wish I knew." he replied.

All that Aedan was left with was the info they'd gathered, and the man's ominous warning.

Aedan made her way up to where Sharps office was. She had no idea what to make of it, but she had to give him the information. He'd take it... somehow, and she knew that.

She rubbed her neck with a groan.
"I think that might have the been the last of them." She said, not entirely sure what to make of the rest of it. She hoped that she was done having her neck snapped, seriously hoped.

Azazel just heaved a sigh of relief, as he dropped the sledgehammer beside the pile of rubble and red liquid.
"My arms are a little on the sore side, too." he said.
"...but that's hardly anything to complain about, given YOUR situation." he mumbled.
"Regardless, yeah, I think we got them all." he told her.
"The neck snapping should finally stop." he muttered. "Well... from the statues, anyway." he clarified.
"These things can really travel, too." he went on.
"We're lucky our info network spreads out all across the world."

"Oh thank heavens." She stated.
"As it stands, I'm pretty damned sure I'm going to need to have some nerves professionally, or magically, reattached or something by this point." She added.
"This is not a pleaant position to be in. At all." She paused a moment before sighing.
"And yes. Thank heavens it seems that the hell is over. At least we don't need to worry about those statues. Who knows what else we'll have to deal with, what with working where we do."
