"But, I have no issue with sitting here adn studying a bit before we head out."

Vincent was silent once more, before sighing.

"All right." he replied.

"You will be in the vehicle with myself." he told her. "As well as Doctors Rossen and Kenzey." he said further.

"Doctor Rossen is an old friend of mine, and Doctor Kenzey is a newcomer to the scene, but she's already made quite the name for herself in the world of archaeology." he explained.

"Have you heard of them?" he asked.

"They're Michelle Kenzey and Samuel Rossen." he clarified.

Madison just chuckled lightly.

"Of course I have." She answered.

"Reasonably sure I wouldn't be here had I not done my research." She then said before shrugging lightly.

"Oh, I wanted to ask." She started, her voice curious for a moment. "Is English the only language everyone here knows?"

"I'm merely curious for the sake of communication purposes." She added. "I can understand it when I hear it quite well, but ... it has been so long since I've needed to speak it. It's no longer a default and I have to remind myself how to do it."

Vincent just laughed.

"Fair enough." he said.

"And for the most part, we'll all be speaking English." he told her.

"A fair few of us know French and Spanish as well, but English is the common one for us all." he continued.

"So if you aren't sure of a language someone speaks, default to English." he explained.

"And a long time since you needed to?" he asked.

"I never would have guessed French wasn't your primary." he told her.

"You speak it so well." he went on.

"Shows how much the LeBlanc's have taught you." he then chuckled.

Madison just shrugged.

"Aimee... is quite a strict teacher. She made sure that I knew the language, and knew it like the back of my hand." She told him simply.

"Plus, her, Lex and Yuri only ever speak to me in French. Initially to make sure I was learning it, and then it just became the norm." She added.

"So... I'm more than a little out of practice with speaking English. Probably going ot have a brutal French accent with it now, since I think I'm all but lost my English accent with my French."

Vincent nodded in response.

"I understand." he said.

"And I apologise for any inconvenience." he continued.

"We DO have translators on hand if need be, though." he went on. "Which is to say, a few members of our party are quite multilingual... including myself." he clarified.

"Regardless, if you are ready, let us head to the meeting spot." he suggested.

"The sooner everyone is there, the sooner we head out." he went on.

"Are you excited?" he then asked, a smile on his face.

"Nervous?" he asked further.

Madison was silent for a moment before nodding.

"Very." She admitted.

"There is, of course, the expected nerves because big names and the like." She continued.

"But there's also the nerves regarding how if I fuck this up, I could fuck up more than just this dig. I want to do something regarding history as a career, and if I fuck this up, then I realise that those here can destroy my chances of that with just one review ." She added.

"But I'm definitely too excited to be letting my nerves get me down." She then said as she got to her feet.

"And lead the way. I've ... been good to go for a bit, to eb honest."

Vincent just smiled. It was soft and reassuring.

"Madison." he said.

"Don't be nervous about messing up or screwing up your future." he told her.

"Everyone's been nervous before, and everyone's messed up before." he continued.

"This is a very understanding group. You'll see." he finished.

The two of them then left, with Vincent leading the way, and they made their way to where a small group of people were, and specifically towards an older-looking man that appeared to be in his early 60's, and a younger-looking woman in her mid-20's.

"Vincent!" the man greeted Vincent, a jolly tone to his voice.

"And Madison Kiczys, yes?" he then asked Madison, his tone kind and almost whimsical.

Madison followed, and as she did so, he could tell that she did have some nerves, but at the same time, that they weren't nearly as apparent as one would expect.

After they'd reached the two, with the young woman giving Vincent a hug in greeted, she nodded.

"Yes... I'm Madison." the teen responded, her words chosen slightly carefully to make sure she didn't fuck it up. Being as out of practice with the language was possibly gonna be an issue.

But then again, she'd be fine by the end of this trip, she was sure.

" Wonderful. Vincent has said such wonderful things about you already! Apparently your pplication for this was something he truly hadn't expected." the woman stated with a bit of a smile.

Samuel just laughed heartily.

"Indeed." he said.

"He raved about it, saying his faith in the future had been restored!" he declared.

"Samuel, please." Vincent replied.

"Oh, come off it, old boy!" the man responded. "You cannot deny it!" he said further.

"...I cannot." Vincent admitted.

"It's why I took the time to give a personal response as well, to it." he said to Madison.

"I..." Madison started in English before sighing, and basically said fuck it.

"I saw that." She told him, in French. "It had definitely surprised me. I'm charmed that you thought so highly of it." She paused a moment.

"But... aren't I a bit young?" She asked.

"What do you mean?" Michelle asked after a moment, in French.

"Oh! I mean... I'm only 16. I haven't finished highschool." Madison admitted.

"That's... a surprise." Michelle admitted before looking to Vincent.

"You don't normally bring teens along for the dig." She commented with a light laugh, obviously not having an issue with it.

Vincent merely chuckled.

"Yes, that's true, but Madison is a special case." he responded.

"After all, such an application is rare. I would never have forgiven myself to have turned it down because she's a few years younger than the norm." he reasoned.

Samuel laughed as well.

"Age is but a number, my dear Dr. Kenzey!" he told her.

"What matters is a thirst for knowledge, and a drive to learn!" he declared.

"Isn't that right, young Madison!?" he asked her enthusiastically.

Madison nodded.

"Without a doubt." She agreed.

"Honestly, I'm just relieved to not be the youngest on this dig." Michelle then admitted with a laugh.

"Means this one here," she jabbed her thumb at Samuel, "can't make any baby jokes about me." She added.

"... is that a common occurrence?" Madison then asked, ehr voice curious.

"I married his son." Michelle answered. "Who is a couple years older than I am. So yes. I hear it a lot."

Again, Samuel laughed out loud.

"Oh, it's all in good fun!" he said.

"Anyway!" Vincent then chimed in.

"Are we all ready to go?" he asked.

"I am!" Samuel declared.

"Once we're all set, we can start the drive." Vincent commented.

"All that matters is that everyone arrives at the dig site by a certain time, not arriving together." he reasoned.

"Then let's go" Michelle then said with a soft smile, energy in her voice. It wasn't hard to tell she was enjoying this.

With that, the three of them made their way to their vehicle, a jeep, and Vincent climbed in the driver's seat.

"You're Vincent's guest." Samuel told Madison.

"Seems only fitting you get the front passenger seat." he reasoned.

"Dr. Kenzey and I will take the back seats." he went on.

"We have a long drive ahead of us." Vincent commented.

"Almost 3 hours." he said.

"Oh, but it will be worth it!" Samuel declared.

MAdison was silent before nodding and climbing into the jeep where she was directed to, while the other two climbing into the back seat.

There was chatter between the three friends, while Madison was just watching the scenery outside the winder, everything that they were driving by.

About halfway though, she grabbed her bag and withdrew the book again, before starting to do whatever ti was taht she'd been doing before, when Vincent had first found her.

Vincent glanced over at Madison when she started work in her book again.

"Ah, Madison." he addressed her.

"What's that you're working on?" he asked.

"Not to be intrusive or anything, merely curious." he commented.

Meanwhile, the two in the backseat were seemingly engaged in a brief conversation with each other, and seemed to be really into it, oblivious to anything else for the time being.

"Also, what do you think of Egypt so far?' Vincent then inquired.

"Oh, firstly, my history teacher wants me to do a report on this as part of my grade, instead of being in class." She started.

"Along with that, this book is about who is rumoured - even though I realise no one properly knows - who is housed within."

"Figure I might as well read up on it."

"As for the rumours, yes, there are plenty." he went on.

"The most persistent one is that this very well be the tomb of the lesser-known Pharaoh, Kasch-ta." he told her.

"Supposedly one of the more paranoid and unstable pharaohs of Ancient Egypt." he continued.

"If this is true, it's a major find."
