Madison nodded before smiling softly and made her way into the room.

"Merci." She said as she made her way to the one open seat and sat down. She didn't say anythign though, as they spoke in English and while she did know the language still, it was something that it had been quite awhile since she'd last spoken it. She wasn't entirely sure if she could for the moment, at least not coherently. As it had been years, she defaulted, naturally, to French. She knew that she'd have to stretch her vocabulary again, though.

The meeting lasted for a couple of hours, and it seemed like nobody really wanted Madison to interject or anything. It wasn't them being rude or not caring, it was just them wanting to get through the meeting smoothly.

And they knew Vincent would fill her in afterwards if she had any questions or issues.

When the meeting was adjourned, and everyone started leaving, Vincent turned to Madison.

"Hello, Madison." he greeted her with a smile, before pausing.

"Or would you rather I speak in French?" he asked, switching languages almost instantly.

Madison just chuckled lightly.

"Been.... far too long since I've properly spoken in English." She told him honestly, speaking in French of course.

"Reading, writing, hearing... I can understand all of that easily enough. Can't speak it so well to save my life though." She added.

"Do you happen to have any questions?" She asked. "While here, and the like."

"I was about to ask you the same thing, my dear." Vincent replied.

"But, if I may, I will start with one that's a bit more... personal." he continued.

"Are you all right?" he asked.

"You seem... thin." he commented, looking at her.

"Alarmingly so." he went on, concern in his tone.

"Forgive me if I'm looking too deeply into this, mind." he then quickly apologised.

"I do not wish to overstep boundaries."

Madison just sighed lightly.

"I'm all right." She stated.

"I'm as fit as anyone else. Please don't let it be reason to send me back..." She paused, biting her lip slightly.

"I know I don't look the most fit, or proper for this, but I assure you... I'm as fit and capable as the rest of you." She assured him.

"I... just... haven't been eating much for a few years."

"It's not my place to ask, so I won't." he said.

"As long as you're fit." he said further.

"At any rate, do you have any questions about the meeting?" he asked.

"Anything that was brought up that you're curious or unsure about?" he asked further.

"Because if not, we should head back to our rooms."

Madison nodded.

"And on that note, where will I be staying?" She asked.

"Because I was told that you would be the one that had that information." She added before removing her shades, as she was now out of the sunbeam that was hitting the chair she'd been sitting in. As she did so and met Vincent's gaze, he could see the almost.. dull... tone that her eyes had. Almost as if something was missing.

Vincent was silent as he saw the dullness in her eyes, before he quickly brought himself back to reality, mentally-speaking.

"Ah, yes." he said.

"Your room is right beside mine." he told her.

"They're connected by a third door, but it's lockable by either party." he went on.

"We're on the 6th floor, rooms 654a and b." he continued.

"Come along, we'll get you your key cards."

"Oh! That makes it easy." Madison said with a smile.

"And of course. Lead the way Dr. Remmington." She added with light chuckle.

As they walked, she was looking around, taking in all she could of the place. She was eager and excited for this, more so than she had been in quite awhile, but ... there was also an insane degree of apprehension. He was a big name, if she stepped on his toes in teh wrong way here... her hope for a career in history, or digs if she chose that in the future, would come crashing down around her, and hard. She knew that.

She was also very well aware that she couldn't be too careful, otherwise she might be in trouble fo rplaying it too safe.

After Madison had received her card keys, they started to make their way to the rooms.

"So." Vincent said.

"We'll be leaving fairly early, be sure to get a good night's sleep." he told her.

"Oh, and it came to my attention a bit ago that you're being raised by Alexandre LeBlanc." he commented.

"How has he been?" he asked.

"And Aimee as well."

"They're lovely." Madison answered with a smile.

". . both of them are, as is Yuri." She added with a light chuckle.

"Even... with the past few years, neither of them have given up me... and for that... I can't help but be amazed."

"Yes, they ARE a wonderful tr-" he started to say, before pausing.

"...excuse me?" he asked.

"The past few years? Given up?" he asked further.

"Might I inquire as to what you are talking about?" he then asked her.

"Because that sounds deeply troubling and ominous."

Madison just sighed as he asked his question.

". . . Something was stolen, and I lost hope." She admitted, but didn't give him much information at all.

"I..." She paused as they reached the room and they made their way inside.

"I shut down, mostly." She sighed as she set her luggage down.

"I just lost hope in life, in the world. Lex... continues to this day to try and help me find what was stolen." She continued, sitting on the bed, "Aimee does to, as much as she can with her work. I... it means more than I have ever been able to express to them, that they still keep looking, searching... for an answer that I'm sure just can't be found."

He was surprised that Madison had volunteered this information so readily. It was as though she had just trusted him with deepest secrets, and for that, he felt immense honour. That she would trust him with this information was incredible.

But there was still one question left.

"....what was it?" he asked.

"What... was stolen from you?" he asked her.

Madison paused a moment before sighing.

"Something very near and dear to my heart." She told him honestly, before pausing momentairily again.

"It... was a scarf that was the last gift I ever received before being abandoned in France." She added. It was not true, at all, but she thought it would be something that he would at least believe.

"Just... it meant a lot to me..." She then said quietly

"Oh, I see." Vincent replied.

"Well, that's too bad." he said.

"Truly, it's a shame." he went on.

There was something about this that made him feel like something was still off... but he decided not to dig into it.

There was no real reason to, at this point.

"Anyway, feel free to order room service." he told her.

"It's on my dime, and money is no object for this trip." he chuckled.

Madison nodded.

"Of course. Than kyou." She said with a soft smile. She had no intention of it, but at least she knew that she could.

Sure enough, she didn't order anything.

The next morning, bright and early, by the time that Vincent arrived downstairs to worry about the whole issue of moving from where they were to the dig site, he found Madison sitting in one of the chairs, studying something.

. . . Wish contact hadn't ceased. She'd absolutely love the fact that I"m here... she thought as she wrote something down, not knowing that there was a telepath in the room.

.... She's probably stalking me, actually...

Vincent paused when he heard her thoughts.

'....what...?' he thought.

'What on earth is she...?' he started to ask himself mentally, before shaking his head.

"Calm... calm." he said to himself.

"Just be on the lookout for anything or anyone suspicious or out of the ordinary." he said further.

He didn't want to scare the poor girl. Odds are she knew of mana, but didn't know of telepaths.

"Ahem!" he then cleared his throat.

"Madison!" he called to the girl.

Madison looked up before waving and closing the book she was studying from, the page she'd been writing on marking her page.

"Mornin'!" She called.

"Sleep well?" She asked as he neared. At the same time, she was putting the book into the simple knapsack she had sitting beside the chair she was in.

"Because we have a journey ahead of us." he said further.

"At least a 3-hour drive." he continued.

"If you haven't eaten breakfast yet, I suggest you do so quickly, or grab some things to snack on along the way." he then suggested.

"Because we head out in a half-hour."
