@Ruby: I am the same. I want to be in comfy clothes, wrapped up in my down comforter as a burrito with arms, and with slippers on. i love the cold.

Her issue is that it's in her name. And she doesn't wanna be left on the hook if we can't pay it, which, i get, but like... Just put it in our names then, It's not that big of a deal.

Yeah, they are very happy.

Yeah i get that. It's a good thing that your grandma isn't a "flight risk," at least. I'm sure a part of it is the dementia, but i'm sure a bigger part is that's just how she is and what she feels like she needs to be like. I'm sure someone with a bigger psychology background can explain why old people are grouchy often, but i can't. It would make sense if she's scared with the changes and that that's her reaction is to be grouchy, but past that, and the fact that she's always been grouchy is probably something else all together. I think dealing with family is hard without any mental issues, but dementia makes it so much more difficult.

Today we went to the grandparent's to sit with Gram while my mother in law took Gpa to the movies, and gram was in and out of lucidity, so it was a taxing day. And while Tyi was with me, i think it took a bit more out of me because she talked to me the most and it's so hard to follow conversations with her when she's not lucid. We were watching the second jurassic park movie with Chris Pratt, and gram kept saying how the dinosaurs were real live animals and that she had gone where the movie took place, and usually i'd be like, yeah ok, but it was like the middle of a conversation with her about how it was a fictional movie and the places shown weren't real, so she was like half lucid during it. Idk it was rough. And then she got really upset because we were waiting for Tyi's mom and gpa to get back to the house to eat and she kept asking for pizza or to just order her a pizza and we had to tell her we were waiting, and then when they got back, MIL went to pick up a pizza. And then she fought us on eating the pizza that she said she wanted. I kinda checked out once MIL was back though, because i was mentally drained.

Apparently they're looking into getting Hospice care for her for like a week next month so Gpa can get a break from her and go to Jersey (to visit his sister who i think also has dementia, but still a break from Gram).

As for your grandma, yeah, nursing homes are ridiculously expensive, and i feel like they should all be the same price, or at least the same general price range. But it's good that she's able to have people come to her apartment and help.

@Ruby: I know, right!? you can literally always add more layers if you're cold. I swear, if she weren't moving out, i would have bought her an electric blanket for christmas this year. She actually sent the projected electric bill to us last night, and it's close to 300. So i get where she's coming from because it's a lot and in her name, but we can literally afford up to 350 for utilities if we have to (not including the $50 she pays for), and that's BEFORE my new job, so idk why she freaks out so much about it. We'd rather pay more than be so hot that we can't wear clothes.

Yeah, my mom usually takes really good care of her pets. She built them a Catio too lol She put a removable pet door in the window that leads to it, and that's also where the AC exhaust goes, but above the Catio. She also hung up a tarp for them so they have shade during the summer (and it helps keep her room slightly less warm)

No worries about the vent sesh. I totally get it. My husband's Grandma has dementia, and while she gave up her license before the dementia set in, she always complains about everything and has bad moods. Like, Grandpa doesn't really take her outside anymore because she just won't go back in and causes scenes. When Tyi's cousin was in town, she took gram outside thinking she could handle it, but then gram walked like 4 houses down, stood in someone's yard, and was going on about how kim was "one of them, one of their gang out to get her." or something and to call Kevin (Gram's son), and no one really knows why kevin is her golden child because apparently no one really likes him? idk i know my mother in law can't stand him. but yeah, Gram just did not want to go back to the house, and the only thing that snapped her out of it is that one of her neighbors came out with their baby and Kim redirected her and said hey lets go see their baby! idk, it's stressful. I'm sure it's extra hard since your grandma was already crochety.

@Ruby: Yeah. And it's pretty bad. Before we moved in she turned the AC off unless she was at home, and even then i'm pretty sure she didn't really use it or she had it set to like 80 or something. And if we put it at 76 she complains that she's "Freezing" while Tyi and i are sweating bullets. Then she complains about our room having a funny smell, but like.... We're sweating, and that's gross, and you won't let us do anything to stop sweating.... so... idk she frustrates me. BUT! she'll be moving out once i get my second paycheck from my new job! So it's only like a month to wait, and then we can put my desk in the other room, keep the doors open, and be as cold as the AC can make it without overworking. I might also buy a stand alone AC unit to put in the window of the room our PC's are in now instead of moving me to the other room, but idk yet. My mom has one for her room at my grandma's because her room gets too hot, even with the AC set to 70-71 (MAYBE 72, if grandma's feeling cold or something. I'm so glad my grandma isn't one of the old people that are always cold). My mom's room gets warmer than the rest of the house because it's central cooling and she has to keep her bedroom door closed because her cats live in there and Grandma's cat isn't up to date on vaccinations or something, and she's an outdoor cat, so mom doesn't want them mingling.

Oh man that's rough. But like, How do you get so lazy that you don't wanna walk? I mean i get it sometimes, but... no, dude. That's not a life to live though... Also she'd LOVE our office lol it's so warm in here just because of the PCs. I need to get off ark, it's too much lol

@Stinky: yeah, they do rewards for blackjack at least, but it's based on your wager, and you do also risk losing volts with that game too.

@Ruby: i have no clue. The sad thing is is that she's not even that old. She's like, 48 or 49. Her parent's house is worse- they keep it at 80-82, depending on how hot it is outside. if it's hotter the house is also hotter, if it's cooler, they open the windows. I agree with you about it being too hot if it's over 75, and i also want the ac set at 70, though honestly, when she moves out, because of how the house is (crappy insulation, cracks in doors, all sorts of ways for the cool air to escape) we will probably keep it at 74 or 73, because otherwise our electric bill will be ridiculous. Also, while we will be able to afford whatever it is, i don't wanna spend too much on it. If i were in your shoes, i would also tell her to suck it up cause it's only temporary while you're there. Is this the grandma that used to live in Florida?

@Ruby: yeah, i'll feel the same way once my mother in law moves out and i can bump the AC down a few degrees. She keeps it at 78-79 all the time and it's pretty awful. It's comfortable if you're not doing anything and aren't near the PCs or in the kitchen cooking. And she rarely cooks at home, and she doesn't use computers at home. So she's comfortable all the time while Tyi and i are usually dying.

They were actually. And yes, the brand is what caught my attention, actually. i found them at Walmart. Tyi tried them and said they were weird, but i liked them.

@Ruby: same, actually. Makes me glad my hubby and i moved our computers to the other bedroom- our bedroom is gonna be so nice to sleep in tonight!

i just got back from grocery shopping. Found some pickle flavored peanuts that i just had to buy because the brand is Dee's Nuts. The pickles and peanuts combo is confusing and makes me think that this was probably someone's pregnancy craving with pickles and peanut butter. it's quite interesting.

@KDA Drew: Thanks! I had to get creative with a couple things because i didn't have access to them and didn't wanna go back to the store lol

I didn't realize we could submit more than one occurrence of each item. Otherwise i would have had more points.
