@Wildfire: Yeah, i'm in the sandford/deltona area. I still worry more about my car than myself lol

I just checked the forecast and it looks like it has sped up so it will probably hit florida around tuesday night. We're hoping that it won't be too bad and the power won't be affected. My mother in law said she can't do cold showers and no air. The air comment amused me since the house has consistently been at 78 all summer. Tyi and i will be fine without ac since our office gets well over 78 at night because we have big computers and monitors that are basically like space heaters, but i'm more concerned about work since i work from home. I'm hoping it ends up ok without power or internet loss for us, or even if either go, i hope they get fixed by Thursday or Friday.
@CooperationIsKey: as someone who didn't grow up here, married to someone who did, i understand your anxiety and frustration. I felt that way myself when i went through my first couple hurricanes. But i quickly learned that while everyone panic buys the water and panic buys everything else, the biggest issue is probably the uncertainty of what's actually going to happen. I always get really anxious about how my car is going to handle the storm, because we don't have a garage that we can park it in. I think you're justified in being worried, but also as someone who's lived in florida her whole life, she's justified in not being too worried. My husband and i aren't too concerned right now, but we're keeping an eye on the storm to see how it's developing and where it's predicted to go. That cone of uncertainty is really no joke because it really could go anywhere within that cone. Bottom line, the best way i'd handle your anxiety is to do what you feel you need to do to be prepared. If that's planning a "hurricane party that could turn into the hurricane didn't hit us party," then so be it. Other wise what spider said is pretty good advice.

Also depending on where you are in florida will also determine just how anxious you really need to be, and also know that just because the broadcast today says it could hit your area, doesn't mean that it will say that tomorrow. The closer the storm is, the better the meteorologists are at predicting where it's going. For example, tuesday and wednesday are when i'm going to really be watching the forecasts because that's when it's currently estimated to hit florida. Yesterday it said it would be Wednesday, but it's a slow moving storm.

I just got it....2 days ago? and it's basically all i've been doing since then. I'm obsessed and love the potential for so many more characters to unlock. Also i'm obsessed with some of the outfits you get for max friendship with some of the characters. I haven't gotten them yet, but i will sooooooooon.

@Bean: how did you make a gif of your character?

@Jolly: We have decided not to move until april, which sucks, but we'll manage. Especially since my mother in law will be moving soon. In other news, my quilt is almost done! I just have to add the back and the batting, quilt it together, and then add the binding. I will probably do it all tomorrow or wednesday. I also need to get a proper ironing board first. I really need to press the seams on the quilt top.

@Jolly: eh, i accidentally left them in the car all summer..... in florida. And they weren't laid flat either lol My own fault, but to be fair, i doubt bringing them inside would have let them be any better. I'll eventually buy or get another large mat, but for now my small folding one will work well enough. The quilt top is almost all done though! I just have to press all of the seams. But we're moving tuesday, so i'll probably wait until after we move.

@Jolly: So far yes! It felt so good waking up today knowing i got to rest yesterday, and knowing i don't work tomorrow. Today i've been thinking about quilting, but then found out my cutting mats are warped so i need to figure out how to fix them before i can start a quilt.

@Jolly: my work schedule just changed so i get to be off for the next 3 days and let me tell you, it is the BEST feeling ever right now, especially since my mother in law (and main source for my recent stress) is leaving on wednesday for a trip to see my brother in law and his kids for my nephew's birthday, and she's working every day until she leaves, so she won't be around most of the day and i can put the ac at 76, or MAYBE EVEN 75!!! (instead of 78) i gonna sleep so much lol my body needs it for sure. Other than that i might see if my hubby wants to hang out with one of his friends for some board games or something. That would be nice.

Posted in My latest hyper fixation Posted 2 years ago
@Borealis: I get that. I have a hard time getting a cleaning hyper fixation, because it's so easily disrupted by other people. i can do it if no one is home and i have company coming over that day or the following day. Otherwise, i can't hyper fixate on cleaning to save my life.

@Jolly: i completely get the twitching in your sleep thing. My husband says i do it a lot as i start to fall asleep, and i know i do cause sometimes i'll twitch myself awake lol

I have 3 different kinds of machines, and i have bought none of them. My first one was a pretty simple brother. It works well enough for basic sewing. i got that for a wedding gift from my mom, and then the other two are a serger that looks like this one (i don't wanna pull it out to find the exact one). And an embroidery machine that my grandma paid $3000 for forever ago (like over 10 years ago). i asked for just the surger since she said she didn't use hers, and she was all, "okay, i'll send it to you." And sent both. I was happily surprised lol

I've never made a quilt before, and i have a habit of jumping off the deep end with minimal knowledge and skills, so i've been watching a ton of youtube videos. Also i decided i was going to make my gf a sunflower quilt so i looked up sunflower quilt blocks to see what i could come up with. Should be interesting.

So lately (as in the last couple days) i've been thinking about the quilt project i was going to do earlier this year that just kind of kept getting pushed aside until i ended up moving. Mostly cause i kept making excuses for things i wanted/needed to make cutting fabric easier. Well, i got everything (except a big enough table, still don't have that, but i'll have one that's going to work well enough hopefully and isn't covered in my husband's stuff), and then we decided to move (ended up being a bad choice). Well now we're getting ready to move back to where we were, and i want to pick up where i left off. So now i've been watching quilting videos and making up ideas on how to make my own patterns and what not, and it's making me lose sleep because i'm hyper fixated and my brain won't stop thinking about it because i can't scratch that itch that my brain decided to have.

Oh, i have ADHD, Which is probably why i'm so hyper fixated on this right now. I'm sure once i finish a quilt (or maybe i might surprise myself and make 2 or 3!! that would be neat...), the itch will be satiated enough for me to lose interest and not do it again for a few years. But also, maybe it will become something i can actually do!

It's also not like sewing is a common hobby for people my age/younger, so it's nice because i don't get imposter syndrome anxiety about my finished projects, like i do with drawing or writing or cooking.

What are some of your hyper fixations, how long did they last, and did you ever hyper fixate on it at an inconvenient time like when you're trying to go to sleep?
Posted in Hello there! Is Anyone Here From Gaia? Posted 2 years ago
@The I: well i found menewsha/roliana/crysandrea (all now dead sites.), and that slowly pulled me away from gaia, But also i just never felt at home on gaia forums. It always seems disorganized somehow? Or like there really wasn't a solid hang out thread. I don't really know how to explain it, if you know you know. But also all of my friends on gaia stopped loggin in after a while, either because they went to other sites, or they just had life happen. We would hang out in towns back in the day, but then the problems with the chat rooms is that eventually they all died or there were too many options available and it got hectic. I remember when it was JUST towns, and rally and the shops and towns 2 didn't exist.

Also gaia inflation. They became too focused on cash items and they never cared about managing inflation. So it got obnoxious when you were still getting gold instead of platinum. It was a big thing to me when they made the switch to platinum instead of gold, just because it helped with how expensive everything seemed, but now it looks like it's the same thing it's always been, but with the currency being called platinum. I remember when the dailies first started giving platinum, where it would only be like 2 or 3, and now it's like 100 or more (from what i saw the other night)

I do still have a semi-active account ( i log in every so often. this month i'm trying to log in at least every other day or so if i can remember), mema4 is my username on there. It's crazy how things are on there now. It's so awkward to just be on the site with no one to talk to. I did spend a good 3-4 hours the other night on there reading through old PMs (lots of drama from like 10 years ago talking about drama that happened before that lol) and looking at friends profiles, feeling nostalgic.
