@kazofblood: Same tbh.

Also I'm sick and can't sleep so. I guess it's chat time on Volt for me!!!

I'm an oldie on Gaia! But I left around 2010 or so due to school kicking me in the brains. I keep poking at it every so often but it just never felt the same. I like smaller places like this, tbh. It's easier for my shy butt to get to know people. Also I hated how every single announcement after a while was just begging for people to buy more items. No events or anything like way back when...

I'm mostly on Recolor.me now, and... yea I gotta agree about them being rude af. I mostly stick with the yaoi roleplayers, and they're all really chill. I just block anyone that's obviously a troll and avoid General and the spam forums.

I've been on a bunch of others, but so far Voltra has outshined them all in one way or another.

I'd consider playing it today but I know any game I try to download would take like. The whole freaking day... My internet is so bad. OTL

@Amber Lynne: Worse, it's an iPad. Setting that thing up was such a nightmare... @_@ I absolutely hate Apple products.

@Amber Lynne: It's for a device that kinda needs a cover asap, though... My boyfriend got a tablet for Christmas and I don't want him taking it out without something to keep it from getting scratched up while in his bag.

That, and I ahve a bad habit of making project plans and then never starting them...

@Amber Lynne: I'll figure out some way to salvage it, though. Somehow...

@Amber Lynne: Especially when I realize that I don'T HAVE RED YARN, OH NOOOO. I should have checked beforehand but now I need to find an alternative. Q_Q
Posted in Closing down. Posted 6 years ago

@Amber Lynne: Yup! I just gotta get the yarn together, which... ugh, I hate starting a project. I wish I was already in the middle of it! @_@

@Amber Lynne: I have problems keeping my attention where I should, so I've used knitting and podcasts to keep my attention occupied when I can't seem to control it.

@Amber Lynne: It's staff drama, so it doesn't directly involve me, but as a regular user it still trickles down. I just get fixated on stupid things on bad mental health days, so I had to change my password into gibberish so I could force myself to stay away. It's not a big loss, honestly. I've got this place and Discord to make friends.

Right now I'm distracting myself by making a knitted gift for my boyfriend.

Ugh, my internet is being so weird. Probably because I live with three other gamers in a house that already had shoddy connections so... ugh.

@strawberry: Personally, the best you could make as a beginner is a scarf. They're long and don't require anything except knowing how to cast on, do a basic stitch for agggggges, cast off, and then weave in the two ends (or more if you give it stripes of colorwork).

That's not to say acrylic is bad!! But I wouldn't recommend it if you're making something to be worn.

And uh... yeah, you do lol. I'm lucky to not live in an area with any yarn makers or else I'd be mega poor. @_@

@strawberry: It's only a lot of work if you want a big one, but you could make something smaller like a lap blanket or a placemat with maybe a week's effort.

As for expenses... It depends on what kind of yarn you like to use. Acrylic is the basic beginner's yarn and it's dirt cheap, but it's also really scratchy and doesn't look as nice as other more expensive fibers. I like cotton yarn a lot. It holds color nicely, isn't too expensive, and holds a nice shape for when you want to do fancy stitches like lacework and stuff.

And you know, obviously, a project like a blanket will require a LOT of yarn if you want a big one. Mine was made with spare yarn from other projects though, so it doesn't cut too big of a hole in my wallet. The real issue is when you start to like yarn and you find a really cool looking one but don't have a clearcut plan for it... and then you find another and another...

@strawberry: I've had a bite, so I'm a bit excited. ^^

The blanket? Oh goodness, it took years... @_@
Well, years off-and-on, but it was also quite a big blanket. It was a really nice pattern that swirled around and had you knit along the sides in a rectangular spiral. It's actually really good for beginners if the bit for the corners doesn't scare you! It's nice mindless work.
