Lindsay just stood up, dusted himself off, and sighed.

"Anna." he replied.

"She's throwing away her career, her future, her family, everything." he said.

"Giving into her insanity, attacking me out of nowhere, it's disgusting, degrading, perplexing, and the entire situation reeks of aquatic life." he continued.

"...it's fishy." he clarified.

".........I see." Ryker replied.

"Well, Eke IS, in fact, here." he said.

"And he's NOT doing well." he muttered, shaking his head.

"That damn necromancer, and the undead dragon, need to be taken care of." he went on, before folding his arms over his chest, and looking skyward.

"...ultimately, his mother does, too." he went on, sighing heavily.

"It's nice to have an ally right now. Eke needs as many friends as he can get."

Outside, Ashley was getting ready to go for a fly, when she saw Lindsay teleport into the backyard.

Or... at least, it seemed he did.

What landed was a pile of ashes, that suddenly burst into flames, and revived as Lindsay.

"Curses!" he yelled when he did.

"What on earth is that brutish, pernicious, unbalanced, primal savage THINKING!?" he exclaimed.

"She's NOT thinking, is the problem!" he added with a growl.

Lindsay's eyes were bleary and clouded, but he nodded slowly.

"Y... yes..." he managed to say.

Then... he was dead.

Actually dead, his body turning to ashes.

Anna now had seconds to get away from him before he burst into flames.

To which he started to almost immediately. Small flames cropped up from the askes, before the fire grew and spread, growing hotter and more intense by the second.

Lindsay immediately started to feel weak.

He was wobbly on his feet, and his consciousness was fading.

He then collapsed forward, unconscious and dying.

"An...na..." he managed to get out.

"Please... stop..." he sputtered.

And then he was silent and still.

Lindsay definitely winced from the pain of having the tendrils pierced him.

However, he flared up his fire in response, burning the vines, and causing the fire to travel down them, towards her.

Anna had a choice now.

She could either relinquish control of the vines, and open herself up to another attack... or keep them inside Lindsay, suffering the inevitable burns from the fire.

'Curses, Anna.' Lindsay growled mentally.

Lindsay narrowed his eyes.

"As I said, I abhor violence." he told her.

"And if you attack me, you jeopardise your employment." he warned her.

"You say regrets are for the weak, but are you willing to ruin your career because you wish to give into some lesser instinct to try and devour me?" he asked her further.

"Think carefully before you decide to go through with this course of action."

Lindsay just sighed deeply.

"Anna, I've always said you were intelligent beneath your insanity." he said.

"Don't prove me wrong." he told her.

He then raised his hand, and caused it to be cloaked in bright flames.

"Please. I abhor violence, and believe it to be the first act of the incompetent, but I WILL defend myself. You know this." he went on.

"Let's not do anything we'll regret, yes?"

Ryker was silent for a moment, before turning around.

"So I can assume you are an ally."' he said, before pausing.

"Regardless of what my other self says." he muttered, rolling his eyes.

"Who are you?" he then asked her.

"And why are you helping us out like this, with this storm?"

Lindsay just rolled his eyes.

"You're better than that, Anna." he said.

"You're SMARTER than that, I would assume." he said further.

"If you were to ingest any part of me, it would ignite inside you." he told her. "As a Draydin, your biological composition is different enough from a humans, that you would receive a literal case of heartburn." he explained.

"Now... can we continue with this, or must we waste time with pointless hypotheticals?" he asked her.

'Kid.' the demon in Ryker's mind addressed him.

'I know.' Ryker responded, before standing up from his squatting position.

"....so." he said, addressing the woman.

"State your intentions for being here." he told her.

"And they had better be good."

Lindsay just sighed.

"I'm well aware of your opinion on your belief of how fruitless these endeavours are." he commented.

"However, these are necessary." he told her.

"These frequent and periodic checkups provide valuable information into your psyche, and will allow us to potentially identify concerning trends." he explained.

"And they never take very long, you know that." he then added.

Aly returned the embrace, and held Eke close.

"It's all right." she said.

"You're here now, you're awake." she assured him.

"I'm here for you, and so is Ryker." she went on.

"He's making sure we're safe for the night."

"Sure thing." Lindsay replied.

"I'll go and get it now." he told her.

-A couple of weeks later-

Lindsay was at his desk, finishing up some paperwork, when he heard a knock on his door.

"Ah." he said.

"Must be Anna." he said further, looking at the clock.

"Enter!" he called to her.
