They only fall... a-part.
Can it be.. undone?

"We are." Adym responded.

"But... well, hopefully not just the two of us." he then said.

"We're going to see if we can fulfill the prophecy." he told her. "And to do that, we'll need more cruxes on our side." he went on.

"And to do that, we need to act, and find them before Vyran does." he reasoned.

"I left the forest because I was being smothered... only to live in a town where I hid who I was." he then said further.

"I haven't been living. I've been waiting to die." he told the female.

"It's time I actually TRIED to do something with my life. My power. My responsibilities."

Adym just sighed.

"See, this is one of the reasons I left." he told her.

"I know that we, as cruxes, are the prime target for Vyran, but we can't spend our entire lives hiding in fear, as this entire world withers and is slowly dissolved by Vyran." he reasoned.

"The Prefect wanted to keep me hidden away, I get that, but... I wasn't even allowed to visit the shrine without a bodyguard escort." he lamented.

"Either we die trying to stop Vyran, or we are found and killed by Vyran, or we finally start to try and stop Vyran from succeeding." he went on. "If the cruxes are just hidden away, the world will die a slow death." he told her.

"At least the other way, the end will either come quicker, or not at ALL."

Adym was silent, and merely nodded in response.

"I shudder to think what might be happening there." he said.

"The Guardian not being reborn, or not performing its duties... both are horrible things to picture, and I can only have nightmares about why either may be happening." he commented.

"...but the Prefect is putting a group together?" he asked.

"We'll go with them. Or alone." he told her.

"That's why we were sent here... and came here... in the first place, after all." he reasoned.

"And this is my home. I can't just sit back as it slowly dies."

Adym's mouth was almost agape now.

"Wh-what?" he asked.

"No... no, that... that's not..." he stammered, raising his hand to the side of his head and placing it against his temple.

"I never thought I would see the day to hear those words." he muttered.

"No wonder the Seer sent us." he then said to Callie.

"If this goes on much longer... this entire forest will... become so corrupted, it will... all wither and die."

".................." Adym was silent for a prolonged moment, before he lightly smacked his forehead.

"Of course the Prefect would know I entered the forest." he said.

"They know when ANYONE does." he reasoned.

He then sighed as they pressed through the rain, and looked around.

"...so is it true?" he asked them.

"Is my suspicion correct?" he asked further.

"Is... the shrine corrupted?"

Adym nodded.

"Yes." he said.

He and Callie then conferred with each other for about 30 seconds, before they checked their bags, and looked back the newcomer.

"We're ready." Adym confirmed.

"Let's go. It seems time is a luxury we do NOT have." he finshed.

They then made their way to the door, and stepped outside, as Callie seemed to not feel the effects of the rain.

At all.

Adym caught it and looked at it, before sighing and nodded.

"This makes sense." he said.

He then took a drink of it, and shuddered for a moment.

"That is BITTER!" he exclaimed.

"But it works. I mean... I can't complain about THAT." he mumbled.

He then looked at Callie, and bit his lip a little.

"Brace yourself." he warned.

"But it only lasts for about 5 seconds." he added.

"....." Adym was silent for a moment.

"....I..." he stammered. "I don't know." he admitted.

"But there has to be a way." he said. "SHE got here safely." he told her. "She must know a way." he went on. "And it's abundantly clear that we cannot stay here." he then said further.

"...damned if we do, damned if we don't." he lamented quietly.

"So... I don't know, I think we need to take a chance here." he went on.

"Better that sitting here and waiting for Creos to consume us."

"We need to listen to her." Adym said.

"It's not safe here. AT ALL." he went on.

"We were being attacked by Creos while we slept." he then said further, gesturing to the shadows.

"Don't worry, we can trust her." he then assured Callie.

"She's a close friend."

"...." Adym was silent for a moment.

"I was told to come here." he told her. "The Seer in town said that my home was in danger, and that I was needed here." he explained further.

"The trees and forest have been perverted, and this cabin was the only shelter from the water that threatened to numb us down into a paralytic state." he then informed the female.

"Creos..." he then mumbled, looking at the shadows... before his eyes widened.

"CALLIE!" he exclaimed, looking over to the teenager.

"Callie!" he repeated, getting up and rushing over towards her to wake her up.

Or try to, anyway.

Just when it seemed like Adym would not wake at all, they saw him stir slightly... before jolting away.

"YAAAH!" he yelled out, rising immediately to a sitting position and looked around almost panickedly... before noticing the one that was standing there. He immediately started to make mental preparations to fight them, but stopped.

He noticed what they were.

And noticed that the room was completely illuminated.

"...seur?*" he mumbled in elven.

"Flaei demoh qitla**?" he asked the newcomer.

"Well, that's good." Adym responded.

"At least there's that." he said.

"Let's go check and see if they're comfortable enough for a sleep." he suggested.

"If not, I might be able to help." he went on, as they started to make their way to the room in question.

"I should be able to grow big broad flat leaves that can be laid on for cushioning," he then explained.

"Help soften things up a bit."

"Thanks." Adym replied.

It only took them a few minutes, and they met in the centre of the house, with Adym nodding.

"All seems secure with what I checked." he said.

"Same." Callie replied.

"Then I suppose we should head to the room with the beds in it." Adym suggested.

"Have you laid down in one yet?" he asked.

"I don't know how well-kept this place is, so I don't know how sturdy or comfortable they'll be." he admitted.

"Yeah, I think we're both equally affected." he said, before sighing quietly.

"Well... maybe it might be best to try and sleep." he suggested.

"There is... nothing in this cabin, really." he said further. "Not much to do... and staying awake staring out the window isn't exactly the best thing to be doing." he reasoned.

"And perhaps the sooner we sleep, the sooner this night will pass, and hopefully the rain will have stopped by then." he continued.

"....." he was then silent, before standing up.

"First I want to make sure all the windows and the door have been securely closed and locked."
