Julien just sighed.

"No." he replied.

"It would have just been handy to have them good to go right now." he said.

"But I've fought with... anything and almost everything." he then told her.

"And I have no real preference." he said further.

"I mean, I really do like gauntlets and such, seeing as they're portable and all that, but... well... yeah, anything will work." he finished.

Time was of the essence now, and he knew it. He did not want to delay any longer than was absolutely, positively needed.

"........." Julien was silent as he heard Demitra speak this way. He was angry about this, too, but he had never seen such darkness in anyone's eyes... or tone. It stunned him for a moment.

But he then sighed.

"No." he said.

"YOU won't find her." he told her.

"WE will." he clarified.

"Your mother accepted me into her home, treated me as family... or, at the very least, a VERY welcome guest... and even taught me about gardening." he said. "I would be less of a man to not try and find her, knowing she is most likely in danger." he reasoned.

"And two are better than one, seeing as we have no idea what we're going to find." he then said further.

"....maybe we can find something around that's a clue as to what happened to her, or where she went." he then suggested.

"And I want to see if any of my clawed leather gloves survived the fire, in case I need to fight while we're searching for your mother." he added, not wanting anything to happen to Demitra as well... but realising that he was NOT about to stop her. So he would go with her, no matter what.

Julien's jaw was agape now. He couldn't believe his eyes.

The fire... the fire wasn't part of the mana that he knew Racquel and Demitra had. But here it was, blazing, and out of control.

He heard Demi calling out for her mother inside the building, and looked around frantically.

He knew he had to do something. He was a water mage, yes, but he specialised in blood. He'd manipulated water a long time ago, but it wasn't as though he could conjure it, or control large amounts of it.

But he couldn't just stand there. He ran to the well that was nearby, and put his hands into into it, using all his concentration to lift a sizable amount of water out of it, and hover it over towards the home.

He needed to put out the fire, before it consumed the entire building.

"....the hell?" he mumbled.

He then shook his head, and ran off after Demitra. However, she was more fit than he was, had more muscle tone, so she was faster than him. He could still hear her ahead, but that's all he had to go by.

'What is going on?' he thought.

He'd heard the fire, and he knew that Racquel was a fire mage.

And they were headed in the direction of the home.

Had something happened?

"Should be." Julien replied.

"I mean, I legitimately feel ready to get up and go right NOW." he told her. "Seriously, I feel like nothing more happened than a tumble down some stairs. At worst." he stressed.

"However... I am not so arrogant as to think I know better than a medic." he then said.

"I will listed to her orders." he continued.

"After all, she deserves good patients." he reasoned with a small shrug.

He looked back over towards her, and just smiled.

"...Vitra." he said.

"I mean... well... look, I know this sounds morbid and such, but... hear me out." he told her.

"No matter what happens, I'm glad we met." he continued.

"Finding you was the best thing that's ever happened to me." he then said further. "You and your mother showed me that I can still find some kindness and acceptance in this world." he went on.

"...and I am forever grateful to you for that." he continued further.

"I'm truly glad I've met you." he finished.

"And I know that sounds like I'm portending to some awful thing, but trust me, I'm not. Not... knowingly, anyway." he added at the end.

He nodded in response.

"I'll ask her." he said.

"Thank you." he told her.

"......." he then paused for a moment, silent, before looking away and sighing.

"I... I'm glad you're okay." he said.

"I was... worried that something may have happened to you." he admitted.

"Guess it was foolish of me to have been worried, as you're clearly MORE than capable of handling a small armed mob." he reasoned with a small chuckle... and a slight blush on his face.

He raised an eyebrow.

"I'll take your word for it." he told her.

He then paused, and thought for a moment.

"...hey." he said.

"Will you help me?" he asked.

"It's clear that I was outmatched, but I stood no chance. I've been relying on my mana to defend myself all these years, and my fighting is little more than scrapping and brawling." he told her.

"Can... you help me get better at combat?" he asked her.

"....hm." he mumbled.

"I can see that." he said.

"She can do things I've never seen or heard of before." he went on.

"She's a better healer than any I've seen, and her ability to sense the future is far better than any seer." he continued.

"It's uncanny." he said further.

"But she seems so sweet and nice." he commented, before shaking his head.

"Anyway, how are YOU doing?" he asked.

"Er... right." Julien replied.

"Well, thank you, D-...Vitra." he said, catching himself.

"Emma told me about the rules here." he went on.

"Nice place to work for." he continued.

"And Emma seems so sweet and nice." he said further.

"The sort of person one would want to injure themselves, just to see her, but would feel guilty for having her seem them hurt." he told her.

"...if that makes sense."

He just smiled.

"No." he replied. "You're not." he said.

"She DOES want me here for a couple more hours." he confirmed.

"...dare I ask what happened to them?" he asked, referring to his attackers.

"I recall there being... a lot of screaming." he said.

"But my hearing was rather fuzzy due to... the circumstances."

He nodded.

"Yes." he replied.

"Almost like nothing had happened." he told her. "Emma is truly a wonder." he continued.

"And thank you." he then said.

"For bringing me here. I surely would have died otherwise."

He had a lot of questions now.

How did she know a patient was coming? How did she know their leg would be missing? How could she reattach it?

But he knew that time would be of the essence, so he held his tongue.

"Okay." he said.

"Thank you again." he told her, before laying back down and staring at the ceiling.

Julien just smiled.

"Thank you." he said.

"My wounds were too numerous for me to properly stop my own bleeding." he commented.

"Surely I would have died back there without swift and proper help." he told her.

"So thank you for saving my life."
