@Little Crane: Wow that does sound exhausting. It's hard to enjoy something when you're forced to do it constantly.

@Little Crane: Aww that's too bad. It seems harder and harder to do the fun holiday things as we get older. =(
@Selaphi: That sounds great! I have a friend that's a cheese snob so he always brings cheese when we have parties.
@kiwi: Pajamas! Everyone can use an extra set. That's a great idea. I also like looking at lights but it also kind of stresses me out because of traffic lol.

Yeah when they're $5 each it seems like a deal, but then you add a bunch to your cart and the next thing you know you spent $30 on games that you have no time to play. ._.

I love hearing about family traditions people have around the holidays. Tell me about yours!
Usually when I visit my family we end up playing board games. My brother is always a rules lawyer and my dad has to ask how to play every turn. My mom usually sits out and watches Hallmark movies, but when she does play she usually wins.
At one point when I was living too far from my family to visit and didn't have a ton of friends, I used to spend my Thanksgivings at the arcade/mini golf place. That was a fun time let me tell you. As much as I love board games and turkey, DDR and concessions is a pretty good replacement.

While I don't know the full breadth of the counseling you've received thus far, if your therapist is only telling you to face your anxiety causing situations without having you analyze why they are causing you anxiety or giving you any tools to use for minimizing them, they don't sound particularly great.
Speaking from personal experience, not all therapists are equal. There are some out there that like to just hit all the bullet points from their textbook and then scratch their head when it doesn't work. If possible, I would recommend looking up therapists in your area that specialize in problems you have. Read reviews on them and see what other patients have to say. You may also consider the long term effects of your anxiety and how much this is costing you outside of just money. Since you seem pretty distraught it may be worth it to pay the extra money and talk to an actual psychologist. At least for a little while. They are more expensive, but I know some are willing to work with you. I currently see mine once a month because that's what I can afford, but she has really helped me understand what I'm feeling. It's worth looking into at least.

@Selaphi: At my last job it was super bad. We had to PLEAD with people to stay home when they were sick. To be fair though, we didn't get a lot of paid time off, and what we did was shared between sick and vacation and people wanted to keep their vacation because that was a really stressful work environment. We passed strep around like candy. =( I got it twice in a row once.

Like, I guess it's their site or whatever and they can make it whatever they want, but there's a right way and a wrong way to go about stuff like that and that is definitely the wrong way. =/

@Selaphi: Yeah if your sick and vacation hours are separate there's really no reason not to take off when you're ill. I know deadlines are a thing but you're just getting everyone else sick too.
I'm fortunate that I can work from home when I'm sick now.

>.< I'm usually that person. I suffer from allergies so I often will have a cough. It sucks when you know you're being obnoxious but can't do anything about it.
