An hour later, Sydney had called and told the two that they were to head out once they could. That meant than they had to send Darrel off.
At least he seemed all right with it, overall.
"All right, we gotta book." Desiree stated with a sigh after Jaden had gotten off the phone.
"Darrel, I'm sorry about this, and how sudden it was." She then said.
"You sure you're going to be all right with this?"
Darrell just sighed as he put his duffel bag over his shoulder, and grabbed the plastic bag that had the sushi and some of the cookies in it.
"Yeah." he replied.
"I'm fine." he said.
"Right..." Jaden muttered.
"They're expecting you." he told his son, forming a portal on the closest wall.
Darrell nodded, before approaching his father, giving him a hug, and then doing the same to his Mom.
"See you later." he said to them.
"Yeah." he replied.

"Now get out of here. WE've got something we've gotta tend to." She added before lightly pushing him toward the portal.
Darrel sighed as he was lightly pushed to the portal. He looked back at his parents, gave them a wave, and then stepped through the portal, with Jaden closing it afterwards.
"All right." he said to Desiree.
"Grit the teeth, buckle down, and let's get moving." he told her.

'Right.' he thought, as he looked around to see if anyone was there to greet him.

He appeared in the backyard, walking out of the wall of the house. He didn't see anyone quickly, but after a few seconds, he heard a loud splash. Aroudn the corner, there was a pool, and someone had just jumped into it.
"Oh, hey Darrel." Someone said from behind him as they came outside.
"Wasn't entirely sure when you'd be showing up. Evan and Sammy are in the pool, if you want to jump in with them."It was Casey, a woman he hadn't seen much, but one of the most identifiable from his parents friends, easily.
Darrel looked at the woman, her feline ears sticking out from underneath her hair, and her tail hanging out from above her jeans. He smiled as she greeted him, and nodded.
"Thank you." he replied.
"That sounds like a good idea." he told her.
"I assume to change in one of the bathrooms inside." he then said further, before pausing.
"And just out of curiosity, what room will I be staying in?" he asked her.
"Thank you." he replied.

"Bathroom on the first floor should be open." She added. "And which room? The one across from Sammy... up the stairs down the hall, and the last door on your left."
"All right." Darrell replied.
"I'll go and put my stuff in the room, and get changed as well." he told her.
"Thank you again for letting me stay here." he then said courteously.
With that, he made his way into the house, as Casey heard Evan and Sammy splash about in the pool.

"Not a problem, Darrel." Casey said with a smile before he vanished within. Once he was gone, she made her way to the pool and just snickered as she saw Sammy end up kicking her brother in the jaw... because he was dumb enough to get in the way of her foot.
". . . Evan's gonna whine about that..." she muttered, counting down the time until her son did, as she knew it was coming.
Sure enough, about 3 seconds later, she heard him.
"Mooooooom!" he cried.
"Sammy kicked me!" he said.
"She kicked me and hurt me and my mouth hurts and-and-and-" he whined, as he continued to cry.
He then got away from Sammy, and ran to his mother... still crying.
"Mooooooom!" he cried.

"I also saw that you were in the way of her feet in the first place." She added.
"And you really shouldn't have been there. So it's just as well you got kicked." She then said before pausing.
"At least your jaw isn't dislocated... you can still talk." she mused with a laugh.
"Do your teeth hurt?" she asked, wondering if he'd ended up biting down hard enough to chip a tooth or anything in the process.
Evan sniffled and hiccuped a couple of times, before shaking his head.
"N-no." he said.
"They don't." he told her.
"But my mouth does!" he whined further.
"My mouth and my cheek!" he exclaimed.

"Well, that happens." Casey commented.
"Don't get in the way of your sisters feet next time." She stated, her voice almost pointed. She knew that Evan knew well enough, but being as she was, feline, it wasn't easy for him to stay out of the way.
"Anyway, go suck on an ice cube. Should help with the pain in your mouth."
Evan just sniffled again, and nodded.
He then made his way over towards the cooler that was off to the side, and started to dig for a proper-sized ice cube.
As he did so, Darrel came out of the house, wearing black and red swim trunks, and a grey towel.
Sammy noticed him, and saw that, while his upper body was pretty standard for his age, maybe a tiny bit more defined than normal... his legs looked like they had some serious muscle on them.
"Hey." he said to Casey and Sammy when he was close enough.
He then made his way over towards the cooler that was off to the side, and started to dig for a proper-sized ice cube.
As he did so, Darrel came out of the house, wearing black and red swim trunks, and a grey towel.

Sammy quirked an eyebrow as she saw Darrel, before sighing as Casey looked over.
"Hey." She said. "Go jump in. I gotta continue to chastise this little troublemaker to not get in his sisters way." She stated, eyeing Evan for a moment.
"He'll ... h opefully... learn eventually."

Darrel looked over at Evan, and then at Casey.
"Okay." he replied.
Then, as Casey made her way towards her son, Darrel jumped into the pool.
He was submerged for about 10 seconds, before he breached the surface.
"Ahhhh, feels good." he said.
