"The phone is on the move, so perhaps we may find her." he reasoned.

"......" he was then silent, and sighed.

"So it's all automatic from here?" he asked.

"Mmhmm." Lunet confirmed.

"...I have something to say, then." he continued.

"And... you're not going to like what it is."

Lunet paused a moment, setting the smoothie down and turning to attention to Hal.

". . . all right then." She said.

"What's going on, Dad?"

"....." Hal was silent again, but shook his head.

"It's... your mother." he said.

"There... there was an assassination attempt." he told her.

"She's not dead!" he quickly assured her. "But... it looks like it's touch-and-go right now." he went on.

"...Lunet, I don't know what's going to happen." he said further.

"But... you deserve to know this." he continued.

"You're old enough."

Lunet barely spared a thought before the next words were out of her mouth. He could tell, easily, that she was serious with this, and merely that she wanted dher mom to survive.

"I wish for mom's survival. Without any serious complications." She stated simply, plainly. He could hear the emotion to her voice though, but it wasn't extreme.

Normally she would ask before wishing, but felt strong enough about this, that she wasn't going to bother with that.

Hal was stunned that the words escaped her lips so easily an so quickly.

And he sighed.

"...I can't guarantee that." he told her.

"This is a situation where I won't even know if I've made a difference." he admitted.

"But I'll try." he said.

"I will desperately try to grant that wish." he continued.

With that, he raised his hand, pressed his fingers together... and snapped.

"I... I know. But... But at least an effort CNA be made." She commented.

"While we're here doing what we need to... At least that's a small thing that can do a lot."

Hal nodded.

"I know." he replied.

He then leaned in close to his daughter, and wrapped his arms around her, holding her close.

"Your mother's strong." he said.

"She'll fight." he went on.

"And I'm sure she'll pull through." he continued.

"We just need to have faith."

Lunet returned the embrace, reasonably sure that she needed it just as much as he did.

"I know." was all she said. There wasn't much else she could say for the moment, sadly.

About three minutes later, the computer chimed. She broke away from him, turning her ttention back tk what he'd tasked her with... To find that the last location known was, in fact, in Anaheim.

Hal looked at the computer screen as well, and narrowed his eyes.

"Anaheim." he said.

"Hmmm." he mumbled.

"I'll have to get people to the location ASAP." he went on.

"Thank you, Lunet." he then said to his daughter.

"Once again, you prove to be invaluable."

"I do what I can." Lunet commented with a soft smile.

"Anyway, anything else?" She then aske],her voice curious. She wasn't in a hurry to get out of there or anything, but considering what he'd told her, she just wanted to go be with cain for the moment. And she really didn't want to be in the way there, either.

"No." Hal replied, shaking his head.

"You can run along now." he told her.

"Remember to take your smoothie with you." he reminded her.

"I have... some serious work to get done, now." he continued.

"Thank you once more." he finished.

He then sat down in his chair, and started to look through personnel files.

"Love you dad." with that, she was gone, and so was her smoothie.

He then sighed deeply, and looking at the computer screen.

"...who to send, though...?" he wondered.

Cain, meanwhile, had almost finished up cleaning, when Lunet returned.

"Hey." he greeted her.

"Everything all right?" he asked.

Lunet approached cain, set her smoothie down, and just gave him a hug. She didn't any anything, just did it.

And it wasn't a standard hug either, cain could tell three was emotion to it. For all he knew, Hal lit right into her and her punishment was extreme. Was a rare occurrence, but certainly not a never occurring thing.

Cain was shocked at the embrace, but quickly returned it.

"H-hey..." he said.

"Hey, what's wrong?" he asked.

"I know we made a mess, but you'd think your Dad would be used to it." he went on.

"Did we ruin something important?" he asked.

"Or was this a 'straw that broke the camel's back' sorta thing?" he asked further.

Lunet didn't answer for a few seconds, didn't move either. After close to a minute, she pulled bsck with a sigh.

".... Mom may die. Someone tried to kill her. It's... Touch and go st the moment." She told him honestly.

"Wh... what?" he asked.

"Holy cow..." he muttered.

"I'm sure she'll make it." he told her.

"Your Mom's crazy strong and super resilient."
