This is true.
This weather reminds me of the Northeast - and life does not stop because of it... probably because many days are like this and nothing would ever get done if it did! XD
Your store might be busy, though - the snowbirds are here and they don't mind the rain... in fact, it might be a good thing to hang out in a bookstore on a day like this :3

We'll see. Not sure what I want. Busy or dead, there's pros and cons to both.
I leave for work at 10:45, lol to clock in at 1.
That's a bit of a commute... but, bus, right? Commuting on public transportation isn't always so bad - sometimes you can get certain things done that you wouldn't otherwise...
Right now I'm listening to an audiobook to knock a book off the to read list.
So I have to figure out shade for sun-sensitive veggies. :d
Good Morning. My husband woke up to some bad news from family. so he's debating if he needs to fly out and knock some sense into a family member.
I'm going to sip my coffee and relax this morning.
That's a good thing to do while you're commuting! What are you "reading"??
@Koah: good morning. I'm sorry to hear about your husband's family - hopefully it's nothing terribly severe (although it must be pretty bad if he's considering flying there) :(
Take a look at sun-resilient plants that are native (or work well) in your area - maybe you'll find things that you can grow up over a trellis or something that would offer some shade to the less resilient plants... and watch where and how the sun moves across the sky (but also recognize that it might change a little bit over the summer)

@Wildfire: I'm reading Cinderella is Dead. Which is a YA that reworks the Cinderella tale, by having it set after Prince Charming and Cinderella pass on. New tyrannical laws created from the Cinderella story. And is LGBT which is nice.
Interesting. I don't mind reading YA books - some of them are really good! And new takes on the fairy tales can often be fun... very creative, to be sure! :3 I just finished "For the Wolf" by Hannah Whitten which is so much more than a fairytale retelling but definitely plays off of Little Red Riding Hood... and a bit of Beauty and the Beast...
No idea why, but I love fairy tale retellings. They're like a favorite premise of mine. Despite being a big hater of fanfiction. Which is more or less what the retellings are. Glorified fanfiction.
Uhhh... yeah, ok, I understand what you're saying that they're basically fanfic, but a lot of the fairy tale retellings are so much more, somehow :3
They are, which is why they don't get lumped in with my normal dislike.
Yeah, I get it. I think it's partly because the fairy tales are so old, and so much a part of our deep societal roots that they resonate on a different level... but also because the people who write them tend to be more creative and rewrite the tale, bringing more depth to the story and situations than the original. Many of the fanfics are more ... well, they're less substantial, less innovative... more "well, this is my favorite character and what if they actually did hook up with this other one?" type of shallow FAN-ness... they're more fan oriented than creative fodder...
I did do some observing of my yard last summer. I planted a few things in pots on my patio and moved them around to see which area worked best for what I had. The biggest annoyance was the deer. lol! Every time I'd find the perfect spot for something. The deer ate it to a stub.

I finished a western novel over the weekend and it just stuck with me. It was a well-rounded book and I just.. haven't wanted to pick anything else up after that. It lingers in my mind.
@Koah: Aaaah... uncle is not handling the news well, it seems. :( I'm sorry.
Deer can be a pain like that - I've had them destroy my sweet potatoes before. I'm hoping they avoid my current garden - I'm not sure how I could secure it from them, with where it is. You, however, might have to fence in an area, or otherwise secure your garden(s) from the wildlife...
Oh! Books like that are a two-edged sword for me ... well written and good, but haunting in a way that I might not always want to be reminded of.

Now I'm thinking about using my husband's fencing for his yard project to make a closed in garden. lol! He wouldn't appreciate me taking his fencing and posts, but he really hasn't done anything with that stuff since we moved into the house. CX
My western novel was book #2 out of a series. I've read other books within the series and had a vague idea of how the origin story ends.. but wow, it still hit hard. Book 1 & 2 are the origin story. Well rounded, but still hurts a bit. I was stuck between wanting to cry from joy and sadness. XD
I did find and buy the new book by Admiral William H. McRaven. He writes short inspiration books. So once my brain recovers a little more from that western, I'll pick his book up. He wrote, "Make your Bed". It's basically a compilation of his life stories and what he learned from each situation. Each chapter is a story and a lesson. I imagine this new one will be similar"The Hero Code"
@Koah: LOL - you can always get more lumber, right? XD And maybe you won't use much of it... there are different ways you could set up some kind of enclosure to protect the garden from the local wildlife :3
It sounds like you're invested in this series of books - that can be a nice thing ... or not XD I'm not familiar with McRaven, but it sounds like the compilation might be an interesting read.
