"There's... one way, I think." She told him after a second or two.

"I'm not entirely sure, but the Order could possibly." She then said.

"This is purely mental with him, after all. They work with the mentality of living beings."

"Actually... yes." he then said.

"Yes, I could help with that." he told her.

Terra just chuckled lightly.

"That truly does not surprise me." She commented.

"I do realise that Syraene is ... quite a social being." She added. "I know she does get around a fair bit, and still largely resides on this plane as well." She paused a moment, seeming to think about what she was to say next.

"IF you cannot get ahold of her, I can contact her for you as I have a connection with little Lucas."

Hal nodded in response.

"Shouldn't surprise me that you know her as well." he said.

"But one moment." he told her.

He then grabbed his cell phone, found the contact number that Syraene had given him, and called it.

"....hm. No answer." he mumbled, hanging up the phone.

"All right, I have one more option. A backup number she gave me." he told Terra, before grabbing his desk phone and calling another number.

Terra just chuckled.

"I am aware of everything on this planet, mostly." She told him.

"Plus, all of us deities know of the Order." She then said with a shrug as he grabbed the phone and called Kalin's home office line.

Sure enough, she answered after a couple of rings.

"Kalin Kiczys speaking." She greeted, which was her standard with that phone.

"Ah, Miss Kiczys." Hal said.

"This is Agent Sharp from the San Diego branch of The Unit." he told her.

"I'm calling because I wish to speak to a member of your household. One that specified yourself as a point of contact." he went on.

"The person in question being Syraene Encrae." he then informed her.

"Is she available?" he asked.

"And if so, might I speak with her?" he asked further.

There was silence on the other end of the line for a moment.

"Oh? All right. I can have her show up there, not a problem. Might be easier... Her hands are a bit small for the phone." She said, not realising that he had no idea about the body that Syraene usually resided in.

"She can be there in five, if that works?"

Hal acquired a very confused expression, before shaking his head slightly.

"In five? That works." he told her.

"Thank you very much, Miss Kiczys." he said further.

"Sorry to have bothered you like this, but this is important, I assure you." he continued.

"Thank you once again." he finished, before the call was ended.

"....her hands are a bit small...?" he mumbled.

"Not... that was not the case, last I saw her..." he said to himself quietly.

"Not a problem." was the last thing that Kalin said before he ended the call.

Sure enough, about five minutes later, the door to the Unit opened, and a small form that stood at most two and a half feet made their way in. She was ssmall, had gorgeous silver ringlets and what looked to be reddish purple eyes. She was wearing something that could only be described as 'gothic lolita' with a heavy emphasis on the inspiration being from the Victorian or Edwardian errs.

"Oh my, are you all right?" She asked as she got a proper look at Jake before reaching the desk, where she couldn't see him as she was too short. Before he could try and figure out how to see the form there, he saw h er little hands - with balljointed wrists? - reach up and grab the desk before the figure pulled itself up onto the desk and stood there, her small form there for him to see... and he could see quite clearly that she was a doll. Which... was odd.

"I... ah..." he stammered, before shaking his head.

"I... I'm fine." he said.

"Just... on-edge." he mumbled further, though the little one could tell something was up.

"...who are you?" he then asked.

"And what is your business here?" he asked further.

"Oh!" she exclaimed before stepping back a couple paces - onto some sand - and bowing cordially.

"I go by Serenity." she said after straightening up.

"I am here to speak with Master Sharp." She added, not moving from where she was.

"What is bothering you, though? Perhaps I can help." All the while, her voice was calm, kind, and rather inviting.

"....." Jake was still silent, admittedly still unsure as to what to make of this.

"I... I see." he said.

"....." he was then silent again, before sighing quietly.

Something about this doll was causing him to... speak the truth.

"And I'm... I dunno, just jumpy." he told her.

"My past coming back to haunt me, I guess." he added, as Serenity saw a small sheen of red flash over his eyes.

Serenity was silent. She was about to say something before pausing as she saw the sheen. She just sighed.

". . . I've seen all I need to." She said, almost candidly before holding her small hands out to him.

"Here. Take this mana. You'll feel better after, I can almost guarantee it." She said. The mana in question was a deep crimson, with what looked to be golden sparkles or glitter within.

Again, Jake said nothing, but he felt... strange feelings.

He felt the need to listen to her. Like he was supposed to. Yet, he felt like it was all right. Like he was all right in listening to her. As though she truly cared, and this really was out of the kindness of her heart.

He then leaned forward, and accepted the mana from her.

As soon as he did, the mana dissipated into him, and he felt an immense calm rush over him, and felt clarity return to his mind.

"....." he was silent, before blinking a couple of times, and visibly relaxing.

"...wow." he mumbled, before his eyes widened slightly.

"....Miss Syraene?" he asked, realising what the mana felt like.

Serenity just smiled before nodding.

"Yes." She answered.

"This is the form I have when I am residing long term on this plane." She toldhim honestly.

"But... what happened, Master Jake?" She asked, her voice shockingly respectful compared to how she had spoken to him in past encounters

"And... and... well..." he stammered, before sighing.

"Something's been happening." he told her.

"Some weird mana has been washing over people... myself included, but it seems like everyone else in the Unit is safe... and it's been making us more... agreeable, to the point of having no real free will." he explained.

"Then... then Ashley showed up." he continued.

"When she walked by... I swear... I could swear I was in the presence of Vanessa, herself."

Serenity was completely silent for a moment before sighing. It wasn't hard for him to guess that she was resisting the urge to let out a string of curses in ... who know what tongues.

"That... well, is not hard to believe." She then said after a moment or two.

"May i be allowed entrance, though?" She asked. ". . . and then after, you and I may need to sit and talk. I wish to know everything that is going on."

"Of course." he said, pressing the button to allow her entry.

"Do... you need some help?" he asked her.

"I mean, I know you're very capable, and you know the way, but... does that body pose any... challenges?" he asked further.

"You know, like being a bit slower than usual, or whatever." he went on.

"If so, I can get someone to take you to the boss." he offered.

Serenity was about to say that she'd be fine before pausing.

"I would like to say that it would be fine, but you are right." She agreed after a moment or two.

"I am a bit short to make my way anywhere with good timing." She continued before pausing a moment.

"And I was told that this was time sensitive. So yes, I would greatly appreciate it, Master Jake." She finished with a soft smile on her porcelain face.

"Agent King to the front entrance, please. Agent King, to the front entrance." he said, 'hanging up' the phone.

"He's on 'escort duty' today." he told Serenity.

"....." he was then silent, before clearing his throat lightly.

"I... must say, this is... kind of jarring." he then admitted.

"Knowing who you are, and referring to me as 'Master'? Just... it's a bit on the weird side." he said further, chuckling lightly.
