As he neared, he was able to discern that the figure was someone hobbling along, looked perhaps a bit hunched over.

As they crossed the road, nearly being smoked by a car that whizzed past, hte was able to see exactly who it was.

The headlights lit them up perfectly for the few seconds that it was approaching.

It was Madison. And she did not look good at all.

Lex's jaw just dropped.

"AIMEE!" he yelled.

"IT'S MADDY!" he said further.

He then raced forward, towards her, faster than ever before in his life.

"Madison!" he exclaimed.

"Oh my God, are you all right!?" he asked her.

"What happened to you!? Where have you been!?" he asked further.

As Lex raced to her, he could see that she didn't even seem to be properly awake. She had a vacant look to her, and was just moving, she didn't stop as he raced over to her.

With each step though, he could see - quite clearly at that - that she was getting closer and closer to just dropping and hitting the pavement below.

As Aimee came outside, the teen had managed to get across the road, and was starting to hobble up to the driveway.

"... the fuck?" She asked before shaking her head and heading back inside. She was going to call the one person she knew could help, as even she could see that the teen was not in good shape.

She drew blood on her hand and slammed it onto the wall, summoning Uriel.

As Lex tried his best to make Madison 'come to', Uriel suddenly appeared where Aimee was.

"Aimee!?" he exclaimed.

"What's happened!?" he asked her.

"A blood summon means it's urgent, that I know." he continued.

"So what is it?" he asked.

"Is it Madison? Has she been found?"

Aimee was silent for a moment before motioning outside.

"She's right there." She said, her voice quiet. There was concern to her voice, most certainly. When he looked, he saw Alex standing there with his hands on the shoulders of the teen that had gone missing abruptly. The teen had stopped moving, but was just there, that vacant look still on her face, and she wasn't even meeting Alex's gaze.

It almost seemed like she wasn't properly awake.

"......." Uriel was silent as he witnessed this.

"I... see." he said.

He then walked towards Lex and Madison, and stopped beside them.

"Maddy, please! Wake up!?" Lex begged.

"She won't." Uriel replied.

"Her body is moving on its own, through sheer grit and will." he told him.

"And she's injured. Not... gravely so, but she needs medical attention for that leg. NOW." he went on.

"What can we do!?" Lex exclaimed.

"I will do what I can." Uriel replied.

"...actually, I'm going to contact someone that can do far more than I." he finished, before closing his eyes and crossing his arms over his chest, concentrating on sending a mental message to one he knew would receive it.

Aimee was standing by the door, watching what was happening. It wasn't hard to tell that she was concerned, extremely concerned at that.

"Lex! Can you bring her inside?" She called, her concern in her voice.

"Yes, please do." They heard from behind Aimee. The brunette jumped and whirled around.

"Emelie?" She asked before shaking her head.

"Whatever. Lex! Get her inside if you can!" She called to her brother as Emelie just made her way to the den to wait, knowing that it would be better she was out of the way. She reasoned that Madison would likely end up in her bedroom, as well, but wasn't entirely sure.

Lex had no time to question what was happening.

Instead, he lifted Madison up as softly as he could, before carrying her inside, and up to her room, laying her down on her bed.

Uriel, meanwhile, made his way to where Emelie was.

"My apologies." he said.

"But I could think of no one else to call in this situation." he told her.

"She's hurt. Badly." he went on.

"And... there's more to this, but I think you can feel that." he then muttered.

Emelie just sighed.

"I know." She told him.

"And I can't fix everything." She added quietly.

"You... should talk to the twins. Let them know about the locks. I am going to do what I can for the girl." With that, the short woman headed off, leaving Uriel alone for the moment.

She followed Lex upstairs and sighed as she stepped into the room.

"Please, leave me with her." She told him.

"I'm not entirely sure how much I can do for her, but I should be able to at least make it that she heals properly." She told him honestly.

"....." Lex was silent, before nodding.

"Yeah. Of course." he replied.

He then made his way downstairs, where Aimee was... just as Uriel stepped up as well.

"You two." he said.

"Den. Now." he told them.

"...um... all right..." Lex responded.

"That... this doesn't sound good." he then commented.

"It's not." Uriel said.

"...but don't worry about her survival, that is all but guaranteed." he then quickly assured them. "However, there IS something that you both will need to know about Madison, going forward." he mumbled.

Aimee was silent as Uriel said what he did.

....Can't deny the unease with that." She then said before sighing lightly.

"All right... let's go." Was the last thing she said before they all made their way to where they needed to be, and each took a seat.

"Yuri... what's going on with Maddy?" He could hear the concern in her voice clearly, as well.

"....Lex, remember how Madison was when you first met her?" he asked Alex.

"Yeah." Lex replied. "She was hungry and sore and weak and-" he went on, but the archangel interrupted.

"Mana-wise." he said.

"...well... she was strong, but couldn't access her mana." Lex recalled.

"Indeed." Uriel said.

"...and this is a repeat of that, only worse."

"You mean to tell us that she doesn't have access to her mana?" She asked.

"Tell me you're joking, please... that's horrible."

"I wish I was joking." Uriel responded.

"However, believe it or not, I'm pretty sure this is the best outcome that could have happened." he then said.

"...I'm sorry?" Lex said quietly.

"From what I sensed within her, the sealing that was used on her didn't start out as a sealing." Uriel replied. "It seems like it was meant to actually DRAIN her of her mana, which would have killed her outright." he continued. "However, it seems like something happened to disrupt or corrupt it, which transformed it into a sealing sort of thing." he explained further.

"So... so, someone was trying to kill her?" Lex stammered.

"Well... effectively. Their motives can only be speculated on." Uriel replied. "But odds are they just wanted to collect all of her mana to use for... whatever reason." he went on.

"And that seal... is something that I don't think myself... or Emelie... can remove." he then added.

Aimee was completely silent, not knowing what it was that she could say, and not daring to try and come up with anything.

It wasn't hard to see how hard that was for her to accept, and she wasn't even the one affected.

"How... how could this happen...?" was all he managed to get out.

"Believe it or not, there's a simple answer that's actually far more complex." Uriel responded. "However, before you ask or anything, just... don't. It'd take too long to explain." he sighed.

"Just know that this... this is something that shouldn't have happened." he told them.

"And remember... she's still alive." he added.

"Yes." Lex agreed.

"She's alive. She didn't die out there" he said further, nodding his head slowly.

"If nothting else." She paused before shaking her head.

". . . is there anything we an do to help her?" She asked. "Regarding her mana, specifically."

"I'll see what I can find. Any information, any leads, any clues." he told them.

"But for now... it seems that Madison will be leading the life of... well... a mortal." he continued.

"Granted... well, one with a much longer lifespan, and... well, SOME of the passive perks of being a mage, but... you know what I mean." he said.

"For all intents and purposes... she has no active mana." he went on.

"And I'm not sure if there anything that can be done about it." he sighed. "Not from the realms of heaven and hell, anyway." he specified.

"You two are free to try and research a way to lift it... and I hope you find one, if you DO search." he told them.

"I will devote my life to it." Lex responded with conviction in his tone.

Aimee just sighed, that breath having an insane amount of weight to it.

". . . yeah." She said quietly.

"I'll do all I can to try and find a way to break that lock." She added, not sure what it was that she could do, or what was supposed to make of all this. All she knew was that she had to see if she could help.

"I did all I can do." Emelie said from the doorway as she approached.

"I'm sorry. I couldn't do anything more. That lock is... extreme." She added. Aimee looked over.

"Wait, what?" The brunette asked.

"Aren't you..." She started before Emeli sighed.

". . . Doesn't mean I can do anything. There are ... other things in play here." The short blonde answered
