Madison nodded.

"Okie." She said before heading off. She did as she was told, grabbed a robe, dropped her clothes outside the door, and just stood in the bathroom for a moment, looking a ther young reflection. IT was covered in bruises that were hidden by the clothing she'd been wearing.

". . . at least they'll heal." She muttered before turning the water on and filling the tub.

"......." Alex was silent for a moment, before sighing.

He then made his way to the closed bathroom door and checked her clothing. Once he did, he took it all down to the washing machine they had, and placed them inside, starting it up.

As soon as he did, he sent a text to someone.

It had the sizes that he'd seen on the clothing, and asked the one he sent them to bring home a few of each article of clothing. Mostly neutral colours and designs.

I'll explain when you get back. he then sent.

Yeah, sure thing. I can do that. was the reply he received. Another followed a couple seconds later.

I am, admittedly, confused as to why you want me to pick up clothing that seems to be for a child, though. You can explain it when I get back, not a huge rush to know right now. Are you in trouble, though? was th eonly thing she asked. Shew as patient, could wait for information, and that wasn't anything new.

She stuck her phone in her pocket before sighing, wondering what it was that her brother had going on back home.

'I really hope you aren't in trouble..." she muttered, not entirely sure why it would be that he would be asking for childrens clothing. For all she knew, a mutual friend of theirs had given him something that had unexpected effects... like causing him to revert to a child form.

She wouldn't lie, part of her was terrified of that beign waht had happened.

A few seconds later, she actually received a call.

"Hey." he said when she answered.

"No, I'm not in trouble." he told her.

"I'll keep this short and sweet for now. A little girl showed up asking for help, and... well, she needs it. I want to give it to her." he continued.

"So until I can get her some more variety to choose from, and so she has more than one outfit, just bring about 3 or 4 shirts and undergarments, as well a pair of pants." he continued.

"Trust me, I'm NOT in trouble."

She just let out a breath of relief.

". . . Lex... you better not be in trouble." She muttered.

"But... a little girl?" She asked, concern evident in her voice.

"that's... alarming." She added. "But ... all right then. I'll bring some clothing home."

After a few moments, they ended their conversation, and he hung up.

He then made his way back upstairs, and sighed.

"....wow." he mumbled.

"I... don't think there's anyone else that can do this." he said.

"I need to care for her." he went on.

"...fate's funny."

Sure enough, about fifteen minutes later, the front door opened and the woman in question returned home.

"Hey Lex!" She called as she took her shoes off. After that was done, she made her way to the den and set the bags of clothes down on the couch before making her way to the kitchen for a drink, wondering where her brother was.

And where the child that she had been buying clothing for was. After a few seconds, she paused, halfway to the kitchen, having finally realised that there was something different there.

"Wait... what?" She asked the air quietly as she looked around, a bit stunned.

A few seconds later, Alex came into view.

"Yo, Aimee." he greeted her.

"....noticed it, huh?" he asked.

"Yeah... kinda hard NOT to." he mumbled, shaking his head slightly.

"What you're sensing is our new guest." he told her further.

"And yes, she's young, and has such a presence." he continued.

"She's currently cleaning herself up in the bath, by the way." he then added.

".... This is insane." She said after a moment or two.

"I don't know what the hell to make of this." She then added.

"... Well, what do you know about her?"

When they did, he bit his lip slightly.

"She was abandoned here by her family." he told her.

"And by 'here', I mean... well... this country. This continent. She's from Canada." he continued.

"And she had a choker on that she couldn't remove. It made it so she was unable to access her mana."

"That... is horrible." Aimee commented before sighing.

"Have you contacted the council, yet?" She asked, her voice curious.

"Because... this sounds liek a council case. Although... for all we know, she was abducted." She added, thinking about it for a moment.

"I... have no idea what to make of the situation, to be honest."

"I have not, yet." Alex admitted.

"Then again, she only showed up earlier today." he said.

"I prioritised making sure she knew she was safe here, and making sure she was fed." he told her.

"That being said, yes, I do need to tell the Council about this." he then agreed.

"She's extremely powerful." he went on, before pausing.

"...I want to help her so badly, Aimee." he added quietly.

"Completely understandable." Aimee assured her brother.

"And... I can understand why. We grew up on the streets after our parents died... no matter the reasoning, no one should be on the streets." She added.

"And we will help her. No matter what it costs, you know that." She added with a soft smile.

"But you should contact Hollie about this. I would go directly instead of through the appropriate channels because you know she'd tell you that you could have gone direct."

"Yep." he agreed.

"I'll do so shortly." he told her. "Tomorrow at the latest." he clarified.

"...." he was then silent, and sighed quietly.

"Yeah, she... seems to have had a rough life." he continued.

"...she honestly thought I was going to lock her in her room overnight." he revealed further.

"Aimee, it... almost breaks my heart." he mumbled.

"Just... she's so young..."

"It's a good thing you have her. At least now she doesn't have to deal with that, for this night." She paused a moment before sighing.

"What is your game plan?" She then asked. "As in, do you want to turn her over to the council? Or keep her? Or what?"

"...I want to keep her." he said.

"I want to become her legal guardian." he told her.

"I... I can't explain it, but... I feel like I want to help her. As in, I want to show her a life she's never gotten to experience." he went on.

"Maybe because I can relate to her on a personal level. I empathise with her." he then said.

"We both can."

"I'll do all I can to help with that." She said simply.

"I think you'd be a lovely father." She added with a light smirk.

"I really do." She paused here though. "Although... I don't think either of us know what the hell we're doing when it comes to this kind of situation."

"I mean, this is as much YOUR home as it is mine." he said further.

"You obviously get a substantial weigh-in on this."

"That may be so, but at the same time, I'm sure you realise that I can't turn a child away, especially not a child in need." She commented.

"So please, don't think that I would do so. As you know, we both were ones that lived out on the streets, we've been in her position." She continued.

"So... please, don't think I'm kicking her out."

"Wait, do we even have her number?" he then asked her.

"Will we need to go through Vincent?"
