"Correction, most necromancers." She commented, causing Madison to acquire a confused and puzzled expression.

"I... wait... what?" She asked.

"I'm not like you and my brother." Aimee started.

"You guys are tainted aligned for your mana, which is the standard. I'm the odd one out - I'm pure aligned." Aimee then said before shrugging.

"I don't get the language perk." Madison was silent after Aimee said all she did before meeting the bruenttes gaze.

"so... you only speak French and English?" She asked.

"Nahhh, I'm old enough to have learned a lot of the worlds languages over the years. Plus I'm a professor that teaches most languages as well." Aimee answered.

"Among other things, but I deal with languages to an extent. Point is, I know a lot. And I know how to teach it."

"No allergies, no anything." She answered.

"I'll verify that." A new voice said from the doorway. Madison just waved in their direction.

"Hey." She said. Aimee was silent for a moment before looking behind her.

". . . Now that is most certainly a testament to Madison's mana." She commented.

"oh, not at all. She's never summoned me, actually." The newcomer stated simply. "I've just been one to visit her."

Alex raised an eyebrow when he saw the woman, and was left speechless for a moment.

"Ah... I..." he stammered.

"Wow." he managed to get out.

"Just... wow." he muttered.

"First we learn she's close friends with Gregory, and now THIS?" he asked, before turning to Madison.

"Well!" he said to her.

"Didn't know you hobnobbed with royalty." he chuckled.

"Especially Cleopatra of the Nile."

"I'd hardly sy she's 'hobnobbing'." Cleo then said.

"I'd say more that she needed solace, and I don't have a job in my afterlife, therefore I was free and clear to keep her company." She added with a shrug.

"Still." he said.

"It's quite something." he commented.

"Just... someone like you keeping her company." he went on.

He then paused for a moment, and thought about something.

"Well, good thing I removed that choker." he told Madison.

"Odds are you missed your friends." he commented.

"That's... one way to put it." She commented.

"She'd had that forsaken thing on for about three weeks by this point." Cleo commented.

"wait, what?" Aimee asked.

"Does she have Hunter blood...?" She asked after a moment or two.

"Nope. Her parents were Hunter adjacent. The kind that are steamrolled by Hunters themselves." was Cleo's answer

"Ugh." he grunted.

"And I promise we'll do all we can to keep you safe." he added.

Madison was silent for a moment, which net a chance for Cleo to speak up again.

"Just wait til you see her more unclothed than she already has been." The ghost said.

"The girl is skin and bones." She added.

". . . I wish I could argue that." Madison commented with a light sigh.

"She hardly ate. It shows. At least she's still before her growth spurt age." Cleo commented.

Alex just bit his lip slightly.

"...at least there's that." he agreed.

"...but don't worry." he said to Cleo.

"We'll do all we can to make sure she's happy and healthy here." he told her.

"It's a promise. To the BOTH of you." he then said further, looking between Madison and Cleo.

"I realise you've had a hard life." he told Madison. "Admittedly, I don't know the gritty details of it, but if you feel like sharing over time, I would be honoured." he continued.

"But from this day on, things will get better for you." he added with a small smile.

Madison was silent for a moment before looking to the side slightly.

"I... for now... am... am I allowed to go get some sleep?" She asked, her voice hesitant.

"It's the middle of the day... why would you want to sleep?" Aime asked, her voice curious.

"... I haven't slept in about two days... not since I was left behind." Madison admitted.

"But... why not?" Aimee asked. "Surely you could have fond somewhere..."

". . . . I couldn't with the collar." Madison answered simply, in essence saying that she couldn't withoutt access to her mana.

He paused and then thought for a moment.

"And don't worry about dinner." he said.

"Or I'll bring some up to you so you can eat it when you wake." he went on.

"But if you feel like you need to sleep now, go up and get it."

After they heard the door close, Aimee just sighed.

". . . Definitely a stroke of luck that you were able to answer the door." She commented.

". . . Where the hell were you sleeping to have it that you could hear it? I know the door isn't something you can hear from your bedroom."

"And I wouldn't have heard it. The knocking was... barely audible." he admitted.

"It was her aura that woke me up." he said.

"Yes, while she had the mana-restricting choker on." he continued.

"Her aura was STILL that strong. It woke me up." he went on.

"So... yeah. Intense stuff."

Aimee was silent for a moment before shaking her head.

"That's... insane." She said.

"At least it's off, though." She then said after a moment.

"But... I'm in awe." She admitted a few seconds later.

"She's a child... yet this strong? She's easily at our level, now.... how strong will she be after her mana matures in a few years?" Of course, she knew that he couldn't answer that, therew as no way for anyone to know. AS it stood, it would be purely speculation, nothing more.

Alex yawned as he walked through the corridors, stopping at a closed office door, and sitting down in one of the chairs beside it.

"..." he was silent as he sat down, and bit his lip.

'Hope this goes well...' he thought.

He wasn't waiting for long, only about fifteen minutes or so, before he was in the room and sitting in front of the desk that the woman he was there to see was sitting behind.

"All right, so I understand you are here in regards to a child that has shown up on your doorstep." She said, trying to maintain some professionalism - but that wasn't the easiest as she would consider him and his sister friends, if not family as her brother had taken them in when they were younger.

"How do you want to go about this?" She asked, her voice curious.

"I do believe it's in her best interests to stay with me and Aimee." he said.

"What is the smoothest way to do that?" he asked.
