And yes, hunt out history on your own. There's a ton of interesting things out there. Humans have always been fucking weird, and they left evidence of this weirdness.

Fun fact. Helen Keller, that woman who was both deaf and blind was a very active feminist and communist. She even wrote an autobiography about her life and beliefs.
