Darrel nodded again.

"All right, I get ya." he said.

"I don't really have much interest in becoming a hunter, really." he then admitted.

"I want to go into website designing." he told her.

"You know, I get hired by a company or individual to make a website that represents their brand." he clarified.

"....hm. That... is true." Darrel responded.

"I hadn't considered that." he admitted.

"That... yeah, that's a very good point." he repeated, crossing his arms over his chest.

"I suppose, to that end, I have a bit of a responsibility." he continued.

"I cannot let this go to waste."

"......" Darrel was silent as he heard that.

"...I... am not sure how to feel about that." he admitted.

"Not all hunters are bad. You and Mom are proof of that." he said.

"So if they're in trouble... that's bad for the nice ones." he reasoned.

"...or are you referring more to the hunters that actually DO hunt mages and non-humans like prey?" he then asked.

"Because I'm okay with THEIR days being numbered."

"You DO need to rest and recuperate." Ryker said.

"You're tough and all, but surgery is something pretty big." he reasoned.

"Plus, the more you allow your body to rest, the quicker you'll be outta here." he added.

"So... yeah." he muttered.

"Not much to do but wait for your body to heal."

"Well.... I suppose it's not surprising." Ryker responded.

"Perhaps your mind blocked it out." he said.

"But I think it's pointless to pontificate on." he then said.

"You made it back then, you made it now, you're here." he went on.

"You're a lot stronger than you were, and stronger than you think."

"It wasn't." Darrel replied.

"Seriously." he muttered.

"It was hell. Like... I would imagine... literal hell. If I were to go to hell, that agony would be awaiting me... for all eternity." he continued.

"But I managed it." he sighed.

"Guess my two halves are at... well... an uneasy truce." he guessed.

"You're lucky in that regard. You didn't have to go through that."

Darrel sighed when she mentioned his eye.

"Mm." he muttered.

"Yeah. I got it." he said.

"I'm pretty much like Mom." he went on. "Half of me wants to kill the other half." he clarified.

"Well... wantED." he then clarified further.

"That was hell to go through."

"......" Ryker was silent, and nodded.

"I do." he replied.

"More often than I care to admit." he said.

"I was... very scared that I was going to lose you." he admitted to Eke.

"And I still wonder how it happened." he went on.

"Like... just... a lot of stuff about it." he sighed again.

Ryker responded by wrapping an arm around Eke's waist.

"Heh, I'm glad to be of comfort." he said.

"Maybe you ARE just cold, though." he went on.

"And you feel like a kid around me sometimes?" he then asked.

"Heh, I hope in a good way." he said with a light chuckle.

Ryker looked away for a moment, before sighing.

"............I won't deny that." he said.

He then got up, and made his way to the bed, sitting down where Eke had patted.

"I'll bet it was scary." he said.

"But hey... you made it, kid." he repeated, relief evident in his tone.

Darrel looked in the direction of the den, and nodded.

"Sure." he replied.

He then went to the den, looked through the movies, before settling on a detective/spy flick.

"Seems good." he said, putting it in the player.

He was then immediately sucked into the film, as it started with a bang, and captured his interest.

Ryker nodded again.

"I do understand that." he said.

"And we ARE close to the Capital, so them being well-versed in caring for dragons DOES make sense..." he muttered.

"But yeah, you'll be out of here pretty soon." he confirmed.

"And I'll be with ya, whatever you learn."

Darrel just sighed.

"Yeah..." he said.

"I... that really sucks." he muttered.

"And I wish I could help with that... but I can't." he lamented.

'I can help with SOMETHING, though...' he then thought.

"I'm still going to try and help with getting you a new job, though." he added.

Ryker wasn't sure what to say here, and then sighed.

"I understand." he said.

"A DNR is... a scary thing." he told him.

"It's something that nobody likes to think about." he went on.

"At least it wasn't necessary this time." he then told him, looking for a bright side.

"And yeah, we're extremely close to your answers!" he added with a matching grin.
