Personally, I always try to aim for at least 3 words per post, not counting smilies. I have seen some people post one word, but idk.
I think the dot would be like a bump, which is against the rules.

It's ok. Practice does help improve writing.
I've got some examples Here and Here and Here. There are several others, but those should be a good reference. ^_^

The most active thread right now seems to be Panda's charity. I keep that tab up permanently and cycle through all the quest threads when it slows down.
