@SnakeWeaver: The presence of women on ships got the gods of the seas too worked up, and they'd cause rough and violent seafaring conditions.

I'm so in I've gender-swapped.

@Saeyra: I completely agree. Captain Amaya is the role model I wish young me had.

So... I'm watching this with my dog. He watches TV intelligently, he cries every time he thinks Bait is in trouble... he waggles excitedly when he sees elf-girls or anyone on horseback. He'll look between characters intensely as they have conversations... So THAT itself has been a delight. The show is pretty amazing without all of that stuff, too. I got my husband watching it the other night and he says "Wait, is this for kids?" He thought for sure there was going to be bloody gruesome deaths in the fight-scenes because thats how well they were done.
Yeah... my dog and I are big fans

@Millet: Back when I was a teen, I thought a lot of my sleep related experiences were paranormal in nature, so after research I decided to train myself to be lucid. (Thanks, weird paranormal people, for actually having some valid knowledge!) Now its pretty much all I can do because the feeling of sleep is so familiar to me. I don't always consciously know I'm dreaming, but I usually always know I can change my situation somehow. I'm also sometimes aware of myself in-dream and out of dream simultaneously... like if I pass out at a get-together, I can usually recall a lot of the conversation, just some parts get a little mixed up and goofy! I've also had full conversations, and even texted (un)successfully in my sleep. Others won't realize I'm sleeping until I say something completely unrelated to the topic at hand...
Speaking of topics at hand, I might be rambling away from that here. Sorry! I did just wake up :viosweat:

When I trace all my reasons to be sad back to the source, I find capitalism to blame for my woes.

I got home late last night thinking it was the 15th already so it felt like I had to wait a day longer than I actually did for this. I'm so happy I got to be home for it today!

What Millet said about the Narcolepsy. (Narcoleptics of Voltra unite!) Except I don't have medication or any nightmares really. I'm an active lucid dreamer, and usually if my dreams go awry I can hero-mode them and save the day. I did have a lot of sleep paralysis/shadow people growing up, and more recently saw a light or light-bending version of said people. Occasionally I have waking hallucinations, but they're usually mundane non-bothersome things. I do have a stable world I always visit in my dreams, though, so I guess that could be considered re-occurring.

I love horror movies, and as such, watch a lot of foreign horror flicks. I feel like other cultures have an edge on scary because they have a completely different set of fears. I'm used to what Americans think is scary, and its very bland and repetitive, so its really a treat to get to experience the fears of others. Asian horror is usually a slow psychological burn, weather or not they're accompanied by the jump-scares and gore we're used to. Anyway, here are some of my favorites, I'll drop by and add more in the morning if I can remember any!
TAG - its hard to describe the plot in this movie without giving too much away, but it starts with
a gust of wind slicing a bus full of schoolgirls in half
and that is beautiful.
Parasyte - Both a live action move, an anime, and probably a manga as well. Weird eldritch-horror type creatures take over peoples bodies in this one, and the protagonist manages to only get his hand infected. I love everything about this, from plot to character development to obscenely grotesque monster based deaths.

I have played ALL TES games, in an exercise of futility. Morrowind is my hands down favorite. The world is huge and unforgiving, just like real life <3
I always start as a thief, steal EVERYTHING, and then 5 years later I'll attempt the main quest.

I break unwritten laws on purpose. It makes people confused and uncomfortable, and suddenly I have an edge. Eye contact is my strongest game, as people get real uncomfortable with that (I know this first hand because I used to be so shy I was incapable of eye contact.) If someone comes up to me talking smack... I just stare them in the eye a bit too long, and they lose all their steam. Confusion and discomfort are not inherently negative, in my opinion. Changes in perspective can lead to profound insights.
