As a narcoleptic *waves to Millet* I also suffer from sleep paralysis a lot *waves to Zuzu*, and with that often comes dark shadowy figures and general doomy feels. These experiences happen to a lot of people so I'm always on the fence between inter-dimensional beings and tricks of the mind. I like to entertain the idea that its both, because life is more exciting with possibilities.
Anyhow, a few encounters stick out in my mind. Growing up with them, I eventually worked up the courage and strength to move either my body or my dream body to lash out at one of these dark looming figures (it had been tugging at my blankets a few nights in a row) I remember vividly feeling the impact as I tried to scratch at its face, then it was gone and I fell back asleep. I was so convinced I really hit something that I was checking my parents faces for scratch marks the next day. After that, they stopped appearing for a while.
Fast forward to my late teens when I was staying over at a relatives house. I had another one looming over the foot of my bed, but my dread was significantly less, and something seemed different. The room I was in vibrated the need for me to get out of it, and I immediately woke up and went to sleep elsewhere. Turns out the new husband of said relative, who was sleeping in the next room, was a dangerous volatile pervert, and I was probably saved from a really sketchy situation.
Most recently though was my weirdest one. I had been having a bad cluster headache that day, so I went to sleep it off in the darkness of my bedroom. This one was different because my room appeared suddenly as though it was bathed in broad daylight, and I saw three creatures hovering over me. They were either made of light, or light was bending around them. They were reaching towards me, doing... something? One seemed to notice me noticing it, and they were gone. I fell back to sleep more slowly and hazily than usual. There was no feeling of dread at this point, and it left me feeling kinda special.
So... even if it is just my brain being weird, its still pretty fun and interesting...

Color theory is MY THANG.
So, color is great, because you don't have to use the "right" colors to convey something, color can be used to trick the eye. I learned a lot of my color theory while doing pixel art, limited color pallets force you to get creative. Am I correct in assuming you're familiar with the basics like the color wheel? https://www.colormatters.com/color-and-design/basic-color-theory (<-Randomly grabbed reference from google)
Once you know that stuff, it can still be hard to decide what colors go where, so Saeyra is correct that references are great when you're learning... both photos and other drawings. Use the eyedropper tool around a piece of art/photo and really pay attention. Colors that read as warm browns to the naked eye end up being more like pale blues or greys.
My general rule for coloring anything is that things that are closer to the viewer (or highlights) should be warmer and more saturated, things that are further away (or shadows) should be cool and less saturated. AND because every rule in art is meant to be bent or broken, it can work the other way around, too, its more the contrast that makes everything come together.
http://humanae.tumblr.com/ is a tumblr dedicated to showing diversity in people, and they use pantone color to show the "average" of their skin color. Its also pretty great for referencing diverse facial features.
Ok, this reply is pretty rambly, but there is a tutorial I dug up that helped me a lot in the past. They're a bit better with words than I am, and they've got graphical representations to convey it :D http://www.floobynooby.com/ICG/artvalues.html I hope these things are useful!

https://www.duolingo.com/ I used this to start learning German. I'd know German by now if I wasn't easily distracted.

I read the whole thing. What an amazing story! I would have felt blessed by the bat gods, even through all the turmoil. My aunt found a sick bat outside of her work one day and I got to keep it until it was healthy enough to fly away, they're such sweet little creatures. Wouldn't want an infestation though....

I have a lot of hair and makeup videos, spattered with some people I like to watch draw, stuff about physics, stuff about magic, and stuff about star trek DS9.

@Tuijp: everybody does, and I suppose I'm OK with that.

@Tuijp: Its my nickname when I'm not on the interwebs. My first name is Morganne, and my middle name is Rebekah... so my family has always called me Beki (which I hate) but my best friend, in the confusion decided to call me Morki, the most elegant blending of the two. AND THUS, my joke is no longer funny, if indeed it ever was.

@Another Movie Addict: Not around me you don't! Your beliefs are valid and what gives you power.
@vengeance: I do not recommend that course of action.

@Another Movie Addict: Yep! I even have my own blasphemous bible-fan-fic explaining how SATAN DID NOTHING WRONG. Probably not the place to share it, though <3

@Another Movie Addict: I'm a chaote, so I recognize all deities and faiths as truth. But I'm also a Discordian, so I take nothing seriously except taking nothing seriously.... BUT My metal-headness trumps everything else, if that explains my train of thought at all XD
