We had kids over on Saturday and I went out of the house for the day Sunday. So, my house feels like a little tornado came through. XD
How was your weekend? How's today going?
@Koah: today is going fine so far - just cleaned up the kitchen (which was a biiiig mess) and am currently trying to decide whether or not to try crock-potting a butternut squash and black bean stew I was going to make for tonight or to do it on the stove like I usually do. I think I'm going to crockpot it and kinda wing the details XD. Yesterday a tornado DID come through - or at least I was woken up at 6am with an alert for the possibility of them being in the area due to the thunderstorms/whatever mess that was that came through... so I other than walking the dogs and cooking dinner, I had a PJ day, which was nice. :3
You'll have to tell me how the butternut squash and black bean stew work out in the crock pot. :3
How do you make your tomato and basic soup?
I found online recipes, but I'm always missing an ingredient or two for all these different styles. I have tomatoes and basil I need to use. It'll be my first time making the soup from scratch.
PJ days are the best. Although, I'm living in mine now. lol. my regular clothes just dont fit anymore. XD
@Koah: Yeah, tornadoes are definitely scary - there's very little warning and not much to do about them except to get through it. Fortunately, they don't happen too often here. Nothing came close to us, although apparently there were a couple that touched down in other parts of Florida yesterday.
How I make soups kind of depends on the soup and what I have on hand, and amazingly enough, I don't tend to do tomato-only soup. Tomatoes and basil, though... you could also do a pasta sauce? Or soup. Either way, I would probably chop and sautee onions and garlic with some Italian spices in olive oil, then toss in the tomatoes and let everything simmer for a long while, smashing the tomatoes as they get soft (although my great Aunts would probably tell me to skin and seed the tomatoes first). Hmmm... Also, I don't usually worry about a missing ingredient or two unless it's one of the truly essential ones. What recipes are you looking at and which ingredients are you missing?
LOL - PJ days are pretty good... and you're in an exceptional position right now to enjoy PJ Day all day, every day! XD

The recipes I was finding were using heavy cream to make it a creamier soup.
I really need to try to be a little more daring in the kitchen and wing it. :O
I've survived a couple of tornado touch-downs and that helplessness is terrifying. My brother and I jumped into a ditch once as a smaller one tore about a quarter-mile away- which is really close for a tornado.
then, another time, my brother and I had to go down to the basement with the radio while the power went out and the windows rattled and the screen door opened and shut aggressively. XD
And my last time, my dad and I pulled under an interstate bridge and had to wait out the storm as his truck uncontrollably scooted a bit towards the tornado, which we couldn't see because it was dark and hailing outside. boi, I hate tornadoes.
@Koah: oh yeah... I should have known the recipe was probably calling for cream. I don't normally use milk or cream in things - I substitute water, usually. I've never been that close to a tornado and I hope never to be!
@Wildfire: Yeah nothing wrong with that, it's nice to have a relaxing day ❤ I had a pretty relaxing day myself, got some groceries and that's about it. Hope you had a good weekend too.
『 “I can turn to that day as though it were a page in a book. It’s written so deeply upon my mind I can almost taste the ink.” 』
Good morning.
My computer is being weird, running updates and signing me out of things, etc.. I don't like it. I like it less when I'm uncaffeinated! XD
How is your morning shaping up so far? Do you have plans for today?
Good morning.
I dropped my kiddo off at the bus stop this morning, and now I can't stop thinking about the question 'now how will I continue to do so with a baby?' XD
I only got 2 months left to think about these things. lol
I bought a coffee this morning from the local shop and now i'm home and debating what to do today.
@Koah: awww <3 Thank you. I'm feeling better now that I've had some coffee... starting to be productive, actually!
You'll make the baby and the kiddo at the bus stop thing work... but yeah, it'll be a bit of an adjustment. Only 2 months left? Yeeesh! Where did the time go? (although I'm sure you're not feeling that way - lol)

A bit more than 2 months, but still- it's going quicker now that Christmas is over and I'm being more laid back.
I'm sure once trimester 3 hits, time will slow down again. lol.
I got my son finished with his school day already, so that feels pretty good. It's early. I'm planning on going to the store to buy a shelf to de-clutter a bad corner.
I decided I want curtains in my kitchenette room. So I need to measure out what size rods I need and start investing in good, heavy curtains.
@Koah: Oh, congrats on getting your son through his school day already! I always liked those easy-early-done type days where the kids didn't fight me getting their work done! :3 Speaking of - have you followed up with the homeschool groups in your area yet? The co-ops around here should be starting their Spring semester soon. I would imagine the groups near you would follow a similar schedule... and playgroups tend to go year-round, non-stop.
It sounds like you have a nice little project or two to do :3 Do you have a specific idea of what you want to do yet?

I go tomorrow, so I'll be able to talk to them a bit more. Two of the ladies are veteran homeschooler moms and super friendly. The other gal is new like me and has a younger kid.
We had some good convos last week, but I do need to be less shy and a little more forward.
I ended up going to the store and buying my 'menu' list for this weeks meals and getting a small bookshelf for my son's homework books. I'm putting that shelf together right now. :d
How was your day?
Good morning folks
@Koah: My day yesterday was ok, thanks. I cleaned up a little bit, worked on my newest rug project, did some prep for another creative project I have. I dunno - it was a good day, and fairly productive, but it seems like it wasn't somehow...??
I'm glad you'll get a chance to talk to the veteran homeschool moms tonight at karate. I hope you get some good information (I'm sure you will :3 )
Good morning.
How are you today, AMA?

I'm good. Enjoying some coffee, chilling before I have to head off to work.
That's pretty much what I'm doing right now too... except I won't be heading off to work... just doing some kind of "work" around here.
It's a good morning for coffee :3
You had yesterday off, you said, right? How was your day?

┤▒├ Hangout with me! ┤▒├
I had Monday off, and that was a pretty good day. Yesterday was alright at work, pretty dead honestly. Lol I am going full time now though, and started some of my safety captain training.
