"...jesus..." he muttered.

He then just sighed and made his way to the kitchen, pouring her some ice water, and bringing it back to her.

"Here." he said.

"..." he was then silent for a moment, thinking about something.

"Wait." he muttered.

"How are you able to hear at ALL, if you heard a banshee's shriek?"

"Welcome home!" she heard someone call to her from the distance, before their footsteps could be heard approaching them.

"Later than usual." they said.

"Some ha-" they started to ask, before stepping into the doorway and seeing her.

"...good lord." the male muttered.

"Are you all right?" he asked her.

"What the hell HAPPENED?"

The guard nodded in response, and started writing everything down on a pad of paper he had.

"Cool, good to know." he responded.

"Name's Jake." he told her, reciprocating the courtesy of a name.

"Anyway, get going." he then said.

"The sooner you're in a safe place where you can deal with that shit, the better." he reasoned.

"Go, then." the guard told her.

"...are you driving?" he asked.

"No. Don't need to." she responded.

"Oh, good. You'll be fine, then. Should be anyway." he said further, before reaching into the kit and tossing her a single blister-packed capsule.

"Here." he said.

"Should help with the borderline migraine you most likely have now."

Ha shook his head.

"Most people might." he said. "So it's understandable why you'd think that way." he reasoned.

"However, I can tell you THIS much, a fair number of people, myself included, have had run-ins with hunters that are genuinely nice, and are on good terms with them." he assured her.

"Myself, I know Dominico Sherwood." he then said.

"Nice fella." he went on.

"And now that THAT'S out there, and I know what you are, what just happened was our resident banshee got stressed." he revealed.

"So. If you know someone that can treat that, see them if things don't clear up."

"Wait, what?" the man said.

"You're a HUNTER?" he asked, before shaking his head.

"Wait, wait, hold on. Firstly." he then said.

"That was NOT a targeted attack." he assured her. "That happened for... well, reasons I don't know." he admitted.

"I intend to see if I can find out, but that had NOTHING to do with you." he continued.

"You just happened to be here at an unfortunate time."

"...you just said you had an idea as to what it was." he responded.

"And chances are you're right." he went on.

"Just know that if the buzzing continues after an hour or so, see someone that specialises in dealing with damage received from shrieks." he advised her.

"Because yes, I know what that was, even though I didn't hear it." he continued.

"It's infrequent, but I am prepared for any sort of contingency."

He just pinched the bridge of his nose, and growled to himself.

"Uh-huh." he said.

"Yeah. Sure thing." he told her.

"Well, you may not want to give us any information about yourself, yet you seem to know enough about us, so I have no choice to but take your warning, as vague as it is, seriously... and hope this isn't some sort of grander plan you have." he muttered.

"One last thing." he went on.

"Odds are you're still hearing a faint buzzing. That'll go away in an hour or so." he informed her.

"If it doesn't, then... see a specialist if you're sure you know what did this." he finished, making his way back behind the desk and sitting down behind it once more.

He just sighed in response.

"I'm sorry." he apologised.

"I... well..." he stammered, before pausing.

"Wait, wait, hold on." he then said.

"I'll answer your question, if you answer mine. And mine is arguable a little more important, and directly related to YOUR question." he told her.

"HOW did you hear that?" he asked.

"And HOW did that cause your ears to bleed?"

The guard was silent for a moment, before sighing.

"Right." he said.

"Good thing I'm prepared for this." he muttered, reaching under the desk and pulling out a fist aid kit. He opened it and dug inside, before pulling out a cotton swab... but it was a light blue instead of the usual white.

He made his way to the young woman and tapped her on the shoulder. When she looked at him, he handed it to her.

"Gently swab the opening of your ears." he said, mouthing every word perfectly.

"It should help."

The guard looked around as the building shook, and sighed.

"Great..." he muttered. "Don't tell me that-" he started to say, before noticing the woman's ears were bleeding.

"...what the?" he asked.

"Hey, are you all right?" he asked her. "How... wait, what did you hear?" he asked further.

Of course, he wasn't considering the possibility that this person's ears were now utterly decimated and ruined, given that he knew what had just happened, and she wouldn't be able to hear him at all.

"Woah, woah, woah." the guard said.

"You just answered a LOT with that, you have NO idea." he told her.

"The boss IS actually in right now, and while he's not wanting any appointments or anything, this has to be an exception." he said further.

"..." he was then silent, before sighing quietly.

"Look, you want to relay the info yourself, or not?" he then asked.

"Because if so, I'll buzz him and get someone to escort you to his office."

"..." the guard was silent for a moment.

"Ahhhh..." he muttered.

"Wow." he said. "Could that have possibly been ANY more vague?" he asked rhetorically.

"Vague information? About what?" he asked her. "Why did you think THIS place would be the best place for this information?" he asked her further, before shaking his head.

"Look, I can't just let everyone that says they have unspecified important information in." he told her.

"I need more info. If nothing else, I need to know why you have come HERE with this info... whatever it may be..."

If she'd expected it to be locked, then she would have been pleasantly surprised, as it opened easily. However, she wasn't completely out of the woods just yet. She found herself at a security checkpoint, and there was a guard behind the circular desk in front of her, looking at a tablet of sorts. When the door was opened, he looked at her and narrowed his eyes a little, before setting the device down.

"...yes?" he asked her.

"There something I can help you with?" he asked further.

'The hell IS this girl...?' he thought.

'It's 3 in the friggin' morning, what is THIS going to be about?' he wondered, before sighing quietly. He was sure this wasn't going to be a case of mistaken address or a simple ask for directions... he could sense SOMETHING about her...

Something that put him on-edge for some reason.
