Hal looked over towards her, and sighed in relief.

"Hey." he replied.

"At least you're up and about." he said. "Angela really IS a miracle worker." he commented further.

"I'll need to compensate her for this." he mumbled quietly.

"And I'm fine." he said to her.

"How are YOU feeling?"

"...I don't, either." Cain responded. "Or, well, whatever the equivalent is for me." he then muttered. "I honestly have NO idea what would constitute 'death' for me, and there's been NO others like me in the history of anything, so... it's very much uncharted territory." he reasoned.

"But... I don't want to find out." he said.

He then looked around, before shaking his head slightly.

"For now... uh... you hungry? Or want to eat?" he asked.

"I think there's some pizza in the fridge from last night."

Cain was silent again, before sighing quietly.

"I... well..." he stammered.

"Hmm." he mumbled.

"Well, if it gets REALLY bad... we can retreat to Mom's 'experiment room'." he suggested.

"Remember I told you that Mom constructed a room for where she could do more volatile experiments without risk of leveling the house?" he asked her. "Dad realised that it was sturdy and strong enough to be used as an emergency shelter. So... we sort of half-converted it." he continued.

"It's still where she goes for those kinds of experiments, but... there's supplies and such down there now." he went on.

"It should protect us, if the need arises." he assured her.

"Now, for the MOMENT? I... guess just try and ride it out." he sighed.

"Maybe find some way to pass the time and keep our minds off of it."

Cain seemed a little taken aback by her question.

"...excuse me?" he asked. "The end of the world?" he asked her. "That''s ridic-" he started to say further, before he paused and thought about it.

"...er... well..." he muttered.

"Hm." he mumbled.

"Not going to lie, this... this DOES feel a lot like Armageddon's starting to happen..." he admitted. "I really hope this isn't... but... damn it, we can't discount that idea." he sighed.

"Shit." he cursed.

"You may be onto something with that, Lunet. I hate to say it, and sound like some doomsday prophet, but... yeah." he said quietly.

"I can, of course I can." Cain responded.

"It's only natural to." he reasoned.

"But... well, sadly, there's not a lot we can do. Nothing... really proactive or productive, anyway." he then muttered. "All we can do is wait and try and stay safe, ourselves." he went on.

"Though, I wonder what's going on...?" he asked quietly.

"Seems the whole world's starting to go nuts, weather-wise..."

Cain nodded and draped his arm over her shoulders.

"All right." he said.

"I understand." he told her.

"And I'm sure if something happens with your Mom, good or bad, your Dad will come and tell you if he can't call." he went on.

"He's good about that."

"Well, the quake shouldn't have done much for the Unit." he said.

"I think they've got amazing protection and stability for that sort of thing." he went on.

"..." he was then silent, and sighed.

"Do you want to go there?" he asked her.

"Or go home? Or stay here?"

"Yeah." he replied.

"I hope so." he said.

"Nothing's too bad so far, but... yeah." he muttered.

"Little worried." he said further.

"Guess they'll call here if there's a problem."

"Uh... yeah. Good idea." Cain responded.

He then looked around, before helping Lunet back to the den, where they sat down on the couch. Once there, he grabbed the telephone that was on the stand next to it, and looked at it for a moment.

"...wow. Using a landline." he said.

"Always so weird." he commented with a chuckle.

He then dialed the number of the place they said they would be, and waited to see if anyone would answer, of if it would even go through.

"I have no idea." Cain responded. "YOU'RE the techy here." he told her, as the lights flickered a little suddenly, but only for a few seconds.

"...great." he muttered. "And the lights went wonky for a few, there." he said.

"Guess we may be in for some rough weather, ourselves." he went on, pausing again.

"Hm." he mumbled.

"What do you want to do?" he asked.

"Any ideas for where to go from here, for us?" he asked further.

"Hm." Cain mumbled.

"Lemme check." he said.

He quickly switched off his wifi, and paused for a moment.

"Uhhhh..." he muttered.

"Yep. You're right." he said to her. "Can barely hold a connection." he reported.

"Shit." he cursed.

"Yeah, just... damn." he said further, shaking his head slightly.

"Maybe." Cain responded.

"Hang on, I'll check." he said, taking out his phone and tapping at it for a bit.

"....huh." he mumbled.

"Damn it." he said.

"The wifi is spotty." he commented, muttering to himself.

"Like REALLY spotty." he said further. "It's barely functioning at ALL."

"I'm all right." Cain responded.

"And the stuff in my room should be okay as well." he told her. "I made sure things were arranged and such so that these minor quakes wouldn't mess stuff up too much." he reasoned.

"All that matters is that you're okay." he went on.

"You have a rough landing or anything?" he asked her.

"Anything we may need to look out for?" he asked further.

'I really hope that quake wasn't portending to something worse...' he then thought.

She'd cried out when she fell, though, and Cain was immediately up and running to where he'd heard her from. When he saw her on the floor, he was quickly up close to her, and kneeling down beside her.

"Lunet?" he said.

"Are you all right?" he asked.

"I heard that, that sounded... bad." he commented further.

"...also, I think we're lucky." he then said.

"That quake was pretty minor." he went on. "Made everything shake, but... nothing seems to have been broken or whatever."
