Azazel poked his head around in the elevator, before sighing.

"Great." he said.

"Wonder if it mechanical or mana..." he mumbled.

He then looked at the buttons, and shook his head.

"I'll get one of the nightstaff maintenance people to look at this." he told her. "In the meantime, either use the stairs, or go for the elevator that's on the other end of the hall." he suggested.

"Also, hi. I'm Az." he introduced himself to Nate.

"...." Nate was silent as he looked at Azazel.

"...oh! You're Cain's father!" he realised. "Hello, I'm Nathan." he responded.

"Ah, good to meet you." Azazel replied.

Azazel just sighed.

"Give him a moment." he told her.

"Mmmmmm..." Nate mumbled dreamily, causing Azazel to be sighed for a moment.

"Geez, she was REALLY laying it on thick..." he muttered, before taking a small part of his mana, focusing it in the tips of his fingers, and then snapping them right in front of Nate's face.

"Ah! Huh!? Wha!?" Nate stammered, as his eyes flicked to clarity.

"Let's jumpstart that a bit." Azazel mumbled.

"What happened?" Nate asked, looking around, clearly confused.

Unfortunately, just because Lunet was right, didn't mean the situation was diffused. Given was Roxie was, when what she wanted was interrupted, or denied, she didn't take kindly to it. At all. It didn't matter who you were, if you aroused the ire of one such as her, chances are there'd be serious consequences later... and sometimes, it would be done in such a way that it would be untraceable back to her.

However, before such thoughts and plans could start to bubble around in her head, the two of them heard a familiar tone.

"Roxie!" Azazel called out, rushing up towards her.

"Good, glad I found you." he said when he was closer, and within normal talking range.

"Tannyll's in his dorm here, but... well, I think he's feeling a little... lonely." he commented. "The kinda lonely that both you and him could benefit from." he went on. "A little... private time..." he went on.

"Passed him in the hallway, said something to him, and he just mumbled a greeting back. So yeah, I think he needs a little reassuring from... well, one of the few people that seemed to truly give a damn about him on a personal level." he then added.

Meanwhile, Nate was still blissfully ignorant to all that was going on, and seemed to still be in a dream-like trance state.

Nate had never seen a woman like this before.

There was something about her... something so alluring... something drawing him in.

Parts of his brain were screaming at him to run... to get away... but they were VERY quickly drowned out by everything else in his body saying to get to know this... sultry specimen of a woman.

"Ah... I..." he stammered.

"I... well... that... I..." he stammered further, seemingly losing his ability to speak cohesively.

"Nate!" he then exclaimed.

"I'm Nate!" he managed to get out, his face red and extremely flustered.

That's when Roxie knew. Not only had she found some 'fresh meat'... but Nate was a very naive and innocent man, too.

Nathan paused when she said this, and Jake laughed.

"Go on, kid." he said.

"It's cool in there. Lotta cool people." he told her.

Nate audibly gulped, and walked through the door, with Lunet following.

Once they stepped through, he took a few steps and looked around.

"....huh." he said.

"Thought maybe something more... dynamic... would have happened, with all that previous buildup." he admitted.

"All right then." Jake replied.

"You wisened him up to the world?" he then asked Lunet.

"I did." Lunet told him.

A forked serpentine tongue then darted out of Jake's mouth, causing Nate to jump slightly.

"In ya go." Jake said, buzzing them in.

"Have fun." he snickered.

"All right." Nate replied, getting out.

The two of them then made their way to the security checkpoint, where Jake was working.

"Ah, hello, hello." he greeted them.

"Hello again." Nate responded.

"So." Jake then said.

"I've been informed that you're both here to see Dr. Edwards?" he asked.

"Or, more specifically, YOU?" he then asked Nate.

"I... I am, yes." Nate replied, clearly nervous.

Nate just rolled his eyes.

"Not surprised." he chuckled.

"Odds are you should talk to him soon about it." he then told her.

"Wouldn't look good for me to be late for an interview at 9pm." he reasoned.

"...though, I should get some word done." he then muttered.

"It's getting close to a bit of a crunch time, and I want to lessen it as much as possible." he told her.

"I mean, I'm doing pretty good already, but it can't hurt to be even BETTER off." he added.

Nate had grabbed himself a cherry cola, and was drinking it when she got back.

"That's good." he replied.

"And yes..." he went on.

"Yes, indeed..." he mumbled.

"How do you propose we do that?" he asked her.

"How am I getting there? Where there is." he went on.

"And... well, yeah, lotta questions about this." he then sighed.

"Uh-huh." Hal muttered.

"Pretty sure you're joking." he said.

"You'd better be." he went on.

"So I'll let that slide for now." he continued.

"However, if I hear of or see anything other than you sleeping in your own bed, and it's because of Nathan, then I will personally see to it that he will always and forever regret the day he crossed me." he told her.

"I may be a djinn, and my mana might not be able to kill anyone, but he'll be surprised at what he can live through." he added with in a chilling tone.

"Love you, sweetie!" he then finished in a MUCH sweeter tone, with a matching smile.

Hal opened an eye when she said what she did, before sighing and opening his other eye.

"I see." he said.

"Well, whatever." he said further.

"I'm used to you bringing home surprise guests." he went on, overdramatising it a little.

"As long as he respects privacy and doesn't try to make a move on my little girl." he went on.

"That Cain hoodlum is bad enough!" he declared.

It was all an act, though. Mostly.

And she knew it.

"Oh, sure thing." he replied. "I assume nothing's off limits?" he asked.

"No alcohol." Lunet replied.

"Of course." Nate agreed.

"And the blue bottles of carbonated water are Dad's. So maybe not them." she then added.

"Got it." Nate responded.

Meanwhile, upstairs, Hal was relaxing in the tub, as the white bubbles covered the surface of the water like a blanket.

"Ahhhh..." he murmured.

"Sometimes humans really get something right." he said to himself.

"This can do a body wonders."

Before Nate could answer, there was a chime on Lunet's phone, indicating she had a text.

"Guess you wanna check that soon." he said.

"And yeah, sure, a drink'd be nice." he told her.

"Uhhh... root beer if you have it." he went on.

"Otherwise, I'm not too fussy. Anything with flavour." he added.

When Lunet was able to check the text, she would see it was from her dead.

Was feeling sore when I got back, decided to deal with it the old fashioned way, by soaking in a hot tub. Let me know if you need anything. it read.

And it was clear he was unaware they had sudden company.

"It's good she's doing what she wants with her life." Nate agreed.

"At least you get to see her from time to time, I assume." he went on.

She nodded.

The rest of the ride had idle chitchat, before the cab came to a stop.

"And we're here." the driver informed them.

"Time flies." Nate commented.

"And speaking of time, time to get inside." he added.
