@PoeticTorment: Oh that's super annoying. I have never tried to return something to Walmart but that does sound like a giant pain. Sorry you got taken for a bit of a ride there.
Also I relate to my cash yeeting itself out of my wallet way, way too much. I suspect maybe I'm just not good with money. But also I'm on disability benefits so I'm not allowed to have more than $2,000 in savings, either, which makes wanting to bother saving kinda hard, too. :I
Anyway, hello, I'm Key, I'm new to Voltra but I love it here so far! :D

Not to steer the topic back to plants, but that reminds me, I need to finally pot up my golden pothos cutting. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow later today. o3o

🌈 So yeah, what are your hobbies? Here's your place to gush! And also to ask questions and discuss!
My hobbies include raising odd little invertebrates, including isopods, sea monkeys (brine shrimp), fairy shrimp, and I'm hoping one day, millipedes and maybe a jumping spider! I also keep an array of plants (multiple succulents, some fittonias, a purple passion, some pothos), and am learning to build terrariums, too, which kind of marries both the invertebrate and plant hobbies!
I also have a couple YouTube channels that thus far I haven't done much with, but I'm preparing to do a bunch more with my invertebrate hobby channel.
And while being terrible at 'modern' web design, I love classic, Geocities-reminiscent web design and I maintain a personal website that is loads of fun.
Oh, and I collect all sorts of stuff, including hedgehogs, plushies, rainbow anything, and tiny souvenirs/mementos in itty bitty glass vials I have on a rope.
Please, do share yours! I'm super curious. o3o

Posted in Getting a Bit Spooked

🌈 So far, the only time I've experienced anything was at the Titanic exhibit in Los Vegas, but I definitely felt stuff there. Among other things they've got this massive piece of the actual ship's hull there, and the whole time I was in the room with it I kept expecting faces to appear in the porthole windows.
Then my friend, who's got a lot more stories than I do about this sort of thing, directed me over to a case of recovered belongings--clothes, I think--without telling me anything--but turned out she was watching for my reaction. And oh did I have a reaction! My skin started feeling funny the moment I stood there, like goosebumps, skin-crawly stuff, but at the same time, it wasn't scary at all; I felt no anger or hostility, just... sorrow, I guess. But it was way more than just being spooked, definitely!
So I haven't seen anything (yet; I still kinda hope I do some day) but I've definitely felt stuff.
My aforementioned friend and her family, however, have all sorts of stories of the paranormal, both ghostly phenomena--my one friend has seen a full-bodied apparition vanish before her eyes, and their family lived in a haunted house, with everything from visually human spirits to doppelgangers of their pets and things moving of their own accord, for many years--and ufo/extraterrestrial stuff, which honestly jeebies my heebies worse than the ghost stuff, lol. I think some people are more serious magnets for that sort of thing than others. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
So yeah, I'm not sure exactly what all is out there, but I'm definitely convinced there are things we can't explain!
EDIT: Oh holy heck, I totally forgot, I once caught orbs on my phone camera! It had been taking perfectly normal photos up to this point and immediately after, so it wasn't light reflection, and there was no bugs flying around inside the house to cause the anomaly. But one shot in the middle has great big, very clear orbs. I just found the photo; there's a nearly identical photo on the roll directly after it, with no orbs, confirming it wasn't a weird light artifact. My friends' father had just recently passed away in that house, and they found it comforting rather than spooky, that it was probably their dad saying "hi."

🌈 Uh, my pets are a little out of the ordinary, but here goes:
Posted in driving is scary ;c
Posted 3 years ago
🌈 Driving is definitely scary. I learned largely trial-by-fire as a teen since I lived directly on a two-lane highway and kinda had to. (also my mom tricked me once after I'd not been practicing all that long by telling me--after we were leaving for the mall--that if we were going, I had to drive the whole dang way, which was over half an hour, lol.)
Then as a young adult I did a cross-country drive (well one and a half, actually!) by myself by necessity, which included my first times driving in mountains (both the Smokies and the Rockies), first time driving in (lightish) snow in the mountains, and first time driving in heavier (though plowed) snow conditions!
And... currently I have no car and haven't driven at all in like five years. So. There's that. :I I've had a couple minor accidents--bumped someone's rear pipe as a teen (they were cool with it, there was no damage), gently side-swiped someone once and they didn't even ask for my insurance (got real lucky there because I'm pretty sure I left a decent dent), and once, while eating and driving, pinged my little 4-door off the center divider of a certain twisty freeway in Los Angeles (I again got lucky as I somehow didn't hit anyone, I kept control of the car, everyone behind me stopped to let me limp off the nearby exit--go figure, Los Angeles drivers being polite!--and there was no serious damage or injury).
I tend to think, when you drive, you're bound to have a bonk or a bangy now and then. But driving comes with so much freedom, too, I think it's worth facing the fear, and I really look forward to being able to drive again someday (I don't currently even hold a license, alas).
I'm glad everyone was fine and the damage was minimal. The kids were probably spooked but I'm sure they'll get over it; kids are nothing if not crazy resilient!
Have you found out if you have to do a driver's safety course or anything?

🌈 @Totalanimefan: It was? Holy cow, how'd I never make that connection?
And maybe I can look up their user/posts and find it. o3o
@dragoness129: Yeah, it was simple enough that I figured it'd be pretty easy to do. I got as far as I think the arm fishnets and the clip-in horns, lol. And those are great! I loved how shiny and saturated everything was on Syndrone. Right up my alley. Though gosh the art here is precious and I'm excited to make new avatars here too!

🌈 @Totalanimefan: I do too! The art was so neat. And that's what I figured too, but I didn't see anything. Hmm. Well, I'll look a bit further, and maybe I'll dig into the css myself and try to figure out some tricks. :)
@dragoness129: Oh that's cool to see! I wish I had a dream avatar from there saved, but after some digging I did find what I believe to be my last saved 'completed' avatar! It was on the simpler side, but I loved it. I was even preparing to cosplay it at one point. (I am pretty sure that jack-o-lantern and kitty item was on my wishlist though!)
And I dunno; there's like no accessing the site at all without logging in as far as I can tell, so it's really hard to get answers. Maybe I'll try to reset my password again; I must be doing something wrong. (Edit: turns out I was putting in the wrong email to recover my password, oops!)
@GoblinsAndTea: Thank you! I'm sure I will. And I did finally get into my Recolor.me; in fact I made a new account since my old one uses my old name and you can't change it afaik, but I'm very annoyed that you can't trade items. Of all features to never add!
I didn't get super into the Syndrone community I don't think, but by god I loved that avatar system. My final avatar from there never gets old, just eye candy, you know? (at least to me; it probably makes other people's eyes bleed lmao)

🌈 @LilMissKushy: Menewsha is a tragic case. There was still an active community before the owner just up and bailed. :( And yeah, I liked Solia's art style and items and was pretty bummed to see they completely redid it all. The style is still the same but I'm not very motivated to start over.
@dragoness129: Hiya! Holy cow really, someone else who remembers Unifaction, thats awesome! I have a copy of my last avatar somewhere but I'm struggling to find it. It was so unique with such big dolls. As for Recolor.me, I haven't been able to log in in ages; even though it shows my avatar when I try, it tells me like the account doesn't exist or something weird like that. And yeah, like I said, Menewsha is just a tragic case. :(

🌈 While I'm thinking about it: Is there a guide anywhere about how to do the css on your profile? I've done Gaia's css for years but every site tends to be different. ^^;

@Totalanimefan: Possibly on Ernya, though I had a different name back then. I never really interacted with the community on Solia, though.
And thank you! So far it seems very nice and friendly here. :3

Hiya everyone, and thank you! :3
@LilMissKushy: Yeah, sadly Menewsha is super broken at this point, apparently people can't even do much with their avatars anymore. It really stinks. As for Solia, as far as I've been able to figure they up and completely restructured the site, and all old avatars and inventories were unfortunately wiped. I was able to recover my account but it's got me starting from square one on an rpg system that really doesn't interest me, so I haven't done much with it.
@Alethna: I have both too many hobbies and not enough to be honest! I love to talk about my passions so I'm sure you'll hear all about them in time. :D
