My family has nothing that we do. Give the body to a funeral home. Talk about how cool they were (even if they weren't), and then go home to do nothing. When my father passed we did play all of his favorite music at the funeral home.

The Irish would place the dead upon a table in well living room/dining room. And the family would help prep the body, by washing it themselves. Redressing the body and leaving them there. Then of course a drunken party. It's not as grand as other death rituals, but that doesn't mean they didn't have one.

@vitreus: Eh the Irish had some very good rituals for the dead, only 100ish years or so. Which in the grand scheme is not that long ago. But people started seeing profit in taking away those rituals.
@xvz: I was born to a family of old people. My father was 25 years older than my mother, so I grew up going to a lot of funerals.
