"....." Chris was silent upon hearing that.

"I... cannot argue that." he said.

"That IS correct." he muttered, before handing her a spice that she asked for.

"It DOES smell really good." he commented.

"LIke... wow. I've never really smelled anything as good as this." he said further.

"Thank you once again for letting me stay here." he then told her.

"I know that, in the long run, this is temporary as well, but still. Thank you so much."

Aly hadn't fallen asleep like Eke had, but she was cuddled up next to him.

"Mmm." she mumbled, as she closed her eyes and got comfortable, next to the man she loved.

Meanwhile, at the same time, two others were exiting the restaurant that they had decided to go to.

"Eh-heh." Ryker chuckled.

"That was a really good dinner." he commented.

"Didn't know a place like that existed here."

Before Chris could say anything, Kalin left.

"...." he was silent, before shaking his head, his mouth nearly agape.

"...right then." he said.

"Whether this succeeds admirably, or fails spectacularly, one thing's for certain... this is going to be interesting." he muttered to himself, before getting up and making is way out of the door.

'Guess I should see Agent Sharp now.' he thought.

'If this is going to take a month, might as well get the ball rolling...' he told himself, walking down the hallway.

"I hope this works." he mumbled.

"Miss Kalin seems to have such faith in me. Please... don't let me screw this up." he muttered further, almost in prayer.

Sure enough, a little over a month later, Chris was living in Canada, with Kalin, Rene and Serenity... although only two of them knew about it at that point. At the moment, they were all in the kitchen, preparing something special.

For Rene.

"...you sure this will work?" Chris asked Kalin.

"I know the way to a man's heart is through his stomach and all that, but... this is a pretty tall order for him to accept." he commented.

Aly just giggled.

"Dunno." she replied.

"Depends on... a lot of things." she said.

"Depends mostly on his ladyfriend." she then added.

"I guess we'll see when he's back." she then reasoned, before thinking about it some.

"Also depends on his 'other side'." she muttered.

Chris nodded in response.

"Of course." he replied.

"You go and return to your life." he told her.

"I... should probably go and talk to Agent Sharp." he then said. "Tell him this is something I am interested in." he continued.

"Although... one question." he then said.

"How did you get your significant other to agree to this?" he asked.

"If my memory serves me right, he's a Lantha, and they are... well... they're not very forgiving of people that mess with their families, friends, bloodline, clans, etc." he said.

Chris just bit his lip as she said the last part.

"I know." he replied.

"....I don't want to die." he then said, seemingly changing the subject in a jarring and depressive manner.

"But... if your sister comes at me and DOES kill me... I wouldn't blame her." he told her.

"I don't know what's going to happen when we inevitably meet, but... if she reacts violently, and I die as a result, just know that... I don't blame her." he said further.

This may have seemed irrelevant and a non-sequiteur, but Kalin knew what he was saying. He was prepared to deal with whatever came his way in life, when he ended up in Canada with her.

Chris seemed genuinely stunned at the moment.

"With... with you?" he asked.

"You... you would open up your home to ME?" he asked her.

"I... I..." he stammered further, before shaking his head.

"I don't know what to say." he said.

"I mean... such an offer is extremely appreciated." he went on.

"And... if you're truly serious, then... then yes, I will take you up on your offer."

"......" Chris was silent, before sighing.

"Yeah." he said.

"There were times where she missed me by... minutes." he told her.

"And he says I'm improving? That's... that's good." he then said with a small smile.

"Also, come with you to Canada?" he asked her.

"I mean, it'd be a change of scenery, and I would be out of the Unit's way..." he reasoned.

"But where in Canada?" he asked, before pausing.

"...wait... what, exactly do you mean by 'come with you'?" he asked her.

"Moving?" Chris asked.

"Well... I mean, it was never my intention to just stay here at the Unit forever." he told her.

"But... where can I go?" he asked.

"Because of my weird DNA and mana, it seems impossible to hide what I am from the world. Finding a place is going to be impossible until then." he said further, before pausing.

"...wait." he muttered.

"You wouldn't ask something like that unless you had something in mind." he realised.

"What do you suggest?" he asked her.

Chris just nodded.

"Yeah, sure." he replied.

He then stepped aside and opened the door even further so she could enter.

"Come in." he offered.

Kalin went into the dorm, and inside it was rather... sporadic and sparse. There wasn't much in the form of decoration, and he had very little belongings. It stood to reason, as he wasn't used to really having anything material for himself.

But it looked a little lived-in, anyway. Some clothing was strewn about, a few dishes needed to be done. It looked like an average dorm, if a little bland.

"What is it?" he asked her.

"Something about my appointments?"

There was silence on the other side of the door at first, before it slowly opened, and Chris peeked his head out.

"...." he was silent as he witnessed Kalin, before opening it more.

"Oh, hello Miss Kalin." he greeted her.

"I didn't expect to see you here." he admitted.

"What's going on?" he asked.

"...am I in trouble?" he then asked her, concern evident in his tone.

Zeke just sighed.

"I've heard tidbits about that." he said.

"I... to be honest, it sounds like it's going to be stressful... to massively understate it." he commented.

"But I hope it goes better than expected." he told her further.

"But yeah, seems like he's a different person, in the best way possible." he reiterated. "Granted, it's been slipping out, like through cracks, but it's showing itself." he reasoned, as they got to the dorms.

"All right, we're here." he told her.

"He's in dorm 12." he said.

"Good luck with whatever you're discussing with him." he finished.

"Bye for now." Hal responded, as Zeke and Kalin left the office, shutting the door behind them.

"So." Zeke said.

"You're here to see Christopher Jenkins." he commented.

"I tell you, you'd never know he was the same person that people knew." he told her.

"He's meek and agreeable, but he really seems to have a guilt complex." he went on.

"...well... he did, until recently." he then clarified.

"Seems like he's starting to finally come out of that shell of his."

Hal nodded with a light chuckle.

"Of course." he replied.

With that, he paged an agent to the office, and it just happened to be Zeke.

"Zeke, would you mind showing MIss Calder to Jenkins' dorm?" Hal asked.

"She has some business with him." he said.

"Yeah, sure." Zeke replied.

"You ready to go?" he asked Kalin.

"I have nothing else." Hal told her. "If you're good to go, then go."
