Ash was silent, before standing up.

"Oh, well, hello." he said.

"I didn't even know someone had shown up." he shrugged.

"And were here?" he asked.

"Past tense?" he asked further.

"So I can assume you've already been in there." he said, looking at the house again.

"Oh. The glow's gone." he commented.

"Didn't notice that." he admitted.

"So how is she?" he asked her.

Ash looked over at the female, and nodded.

"Yep." he replied.

"That's me." he said.

"Why?" he asked.

"Who wants to know?" he asked further.

".....wow." Ash muttered.

"That's a lot of mana." he said.

"Strong mana." he said further.

"...hope whoever's coming to help gets here soon." he went on.

'Why am I talking to myself?' he then asked himself mentally.

Right away, Ash knew this was a mistake.

And he found himself at war with her mana, trying to keep his own.

He tried to break free, but found it hard.

Until he managed to exert enough strength and will to rip his hands off her, sending him flying into the wall.

"...." he was then silent, and left the room, realizing he had been an idiot.

He then made his way down the hall and stopped, before leaving the house.

He hated doing that. It made him feel like a helpless worthless coward. But he did it. He left the house and helplessly waited for someone useful to show up.

"Damn it." he cursed.

"Casey, come on!" he said.

"Say something! Anything!" he pleaded.

Yet she said nothing in response.

Feeling exasperated and minorly panicked, he reached out and placed his hands on her shoulders.

"Please!" he said.

Ash bit his lip again, as he reached out to the rune.

But he stopped, and looked over at Casey again.

"....." he was silent, before walking a circle around her.

He wanted to see if there were any signs of... HER. Anything. Perhaps in her eyes.

"Casey?"

".............." Ash was silent as he read the texts.

Pardon me if that sounds less-than-reassuring. he sent.

He then looked at Casey again, and bit his lip.

"Casey?" he addressed her again.

"Casey, if you can hear me, please... hang on." he said.

"I'll find some way to help you." he told her, before looking at the rune again.

"...." he was silent, wondering if he should try and break the rune or not. It could stop whatever was happening, or it could cause irreversible damage to her.

Ash suddenly realized that, maybe touching her WASN'T such a good idea.

"......oh dear." he muttered.

He then thought for a moment, before taking a few steps back and taking his cell phone out of his pocket.

...Cass. May be having some issues here. he texted her.

Know any REALLY skilled necromancers? Because Casey's acting like her mana's taken over, and there's a weird rune on the floor, and it's giving off this weird purple glow. he sent further.

"....really wish I knew what was going on." he mumbled, only recalling Casey's mana gave off purple glows.

".............." Ash was silent as he saw the rune.

"Ohhhhhhh, this ain't good." he said.

"Not good at all." he muttered.

The rune gave him an ominous feeling, and he was sure that it meant nothing good right now.

That's when he located the person he was looking for... sitting dead centre of the rune.

"....Casey....?" he asked, stepping forward slightly.

"Uh.... hello...?" he muttered, slowly reaching out towards her, hesitantly.

Ash's eyes widened a bit when he saw just how dark it was.

The darkness within himself seemed to be resonating with it a bit. But even IT knew that this darkness was dangerous. It was oppressive, and it was bad news.

"Crap." he said, creating a dark fireball in his hand... and having it do nothing to illuminate the darkness.

"Casey!" he called out, as he started to fumble about, trying to find anything by touch.

"Oh, what the hell...?" he muttered, as he got closer to her door.

"This can't be good." he said.

"Casey!" he called in, knocking on the door... but to no response.

"Casey!?" he called in again.

"Hey! I'm coming in!" he then said.

He then turned the knob and pushed... finding it to be... heavy. As though something were pushing back, so to speak.

"Damn it all..." he growled, putting more effort into it, and shoving the door open.

"Casey!"

"Understandable." Lindsay responded.

"We'll see how it goes." he said.

-Years later, elsewhere-

Ash sighed as he cracked his knuckles and accepted his pay from Cass.

"Thanks." he said.

"Bounty was a bit tricky, but I got it done." he commented.

He then left her office, and teleported back to the bigger place he'd gotten to accommodate Casey. However, when he appeared in the place, he immediately felt that something was... off.

"....wha...?" he muttered.

"Casey!?" he called out, looking around.

"Ahhh, a scholarship." Lindsay said.

"Well, you seem smart enough to get it." he told her.

"And we'll need to discuss your more immediate schooling." he then said.

"Do you wish to skip any grades they say you can?" he asked her.

"Let's face it, you are quite advanced for your age." he said further. "So if they won't let you skip any grades, I'll be very surprised."

Lindsay smiled when she said all she did.

"That's true." he said.

"But still. You'll... pretty much be on your own again." he told her.

"Such is the lifestyle of a university student." he lamented with a small sigh.

"But I should only be going for another few years." he went on. "And then I can start saving for YOUR education." he continued.

"Because you'll need to go to a university with a top-notch law program." he reasoned.

"And odds are you might be able to even go Ivy-league."
