The man took the license behind the newspaper, and then peered out over his paper.

After a moment, he returned the ID, and nodded.

"Good enough." he said, before hitting a button.

"Door's unlocked." he told her.

"You need an escort to get to Sharp's office?" he asked.

The man didn't seem to look up from his paper, but she heard a noise. A familiar 'sst' sound.

"...I see." the man replied.

"Please present your I.D." he told her.

"We need to verify who you are before you can come in." he said further.

"And, to that extent, what IS your business with Agent Sharp?" he asked her.

She could tell he was sceptical, but it wasn't personal or accusational. She could see that this was him taking his security job seriously, and not wanting to put the unit in danger for any reason.

The investigation started quicker than expected, and the proper people were interviewed. After about a week, Charles had been temporarily relieved of his duties, barring a more in-depth investigation, and she had received word from the Unit.

She was to fly out in a couple of days, and she had her e-ticket on her phone.

Illias had already flown back, but that was all right. She was a grown woman and knew how to take care of herself.

She noticed the flight left around noon, and she had a couple of days to pack her stuff and get ready.

"I see." he replied.

"Well, we will investigate, regardless." he told her.

"If what all you say is true, he will be terminated post-haste." he said.

"If nothing else, I think we're done here." he went on.

"We'll be in contact." he finished.

"....is that so." the man responded.

"As I said, we will look into this." he told her.

"And appropriate action will be taken." he said.

"Thank you for coming forth with this information." he continued.

"It couldn't have been easy for you."

".....I see." the man replied.

"Well, this will certainly be looked into." he told her.

"We will launch a thorough investigation as soon as possible." he said.

"And we will most certainly be calling upon you later for more information as needed." he went on.

"...and perhaps these other people will come forward as well."

"Indeed." the man replied.

"Enough with the pleasantries." he then said. "Let us get down to business." he told her.

"Tell me the nature of your complaint." he said further.

"I wish to know all the details."

Charles, however, didn't ignore her.

He continued to shoot glares at her, and she heard him mutter under his breath.

Insults, scorns, that sort of thing.

It was clear he wasn't happy.

And he was taking it out on her... verbally, anyway.

"I can do it now." Rene told her.

"Just need to look at my schedule for that day." he said.

"You have the time?" he asked.

"I can give you the exact time for the story in a few minutes." he said further.

"Because the sooner he's brought to justice, the better."

"All right." Rene replied.

After a little bit of time, Rene finished up with her wound.

"And done." he said.

"You shouldn't need to see me again for this." he told her.

"In terms of treating it, anyway." he clarified.

"Now. I need to do some research and find out when I treated you." he went on.

"Ie: specific time."

"Dissolving." Rene replied.

"It's a small wound, so dissolving will work." he told her.

"But seriously. This infection is annoying." he commented.

"You really ARE lucky you came to me when you did." he said.

"But, anyway, I'll have you out of here in about 30 minutes." he told her.

"And I have records to... ahem... write." he went on.

"I assume no one else knows about this wound?" he asked her.

"Well, if I were an ordinary doctor, you would be on one HELL of an antibiotic cocktail, and your arm would be unusable for a bit." Rene replied.

"But I am not." he said.

"As such, you'll feel some stiffness in your shoulder, but that will go away in a week or so." he went on.

"Your stitches will come out at about the same time as the stiffness goes away."

Rene laughed.

"Not a problem." he said.

"That's all I'll say. Not a problem." he told her.

"You ARE still a police officer, after all." he said further with a wink.

"Anyway, yep, this IS infected." he told her.

"Good thing you came when you did. This could have been nasty."

Rene just sighed.

"Yes, I did know about that." he replied.

"Lindsay and I didn't want to say anything because we were still focusing on any other way we could help, in case the Unit plan fell apart." he told her.

"But Rowena DID tell us that someone would probably be coming to assist you." he said further.

"Regardless, it seems things are finally looking up for you." he commented.

"Good."
