@Totalanimefan: Yeah, talking of staples I don't really know what American staples are, but I think Americans eat a lot of frozen food or pre-cooked/pre-packaged meals? Whenever we cook it's from scratch, but that's also because we have food traditions. Native American food traditions are endangered because settlers didn't bother to learn them, but they didn't exactly follow their own traditions either, so it's like a culture of cooking where there was no culture of cooking. So in the American kitchen everyone cooks as though nobody in their family knows properly how to cook and they've had to come up with how to cook all by themselves. Which is kind of exactly what did happen.

Lorraine sat zoned out in math class, staring with glazed eyes at the teacher and chewing on her candy necklace. She did have her phone hidden in her book, but she could only bring herself to sneak glances at it. One of them had to pretend to pay attention at least, to cover for the rest. After a while, though, it was clear the instructor had even fewer glances to spare at them than Lorraine was sparing for her phone, so she swiped through her phone and opened a Chibi Dressup app.
She grinned at Arya's memes and so did Rita, welcoming the distraction.
Rita was reading webtoons on her app, because of course she was. She was addicted to the ones about revenge and reincarnation. She would read about how the protagonist was wronged and wanted revenge, and she would be filled with righteous indignation on their behalf. She'd imagine going into the webtoon and kicking ass on their behalf. Then she'd keep reading to find out how the protagonist would do it themselves.
Suddenly, Arya laughed so loud that the teacher was sure to have noticed. Rita looked up quickly that sure enough, the teacher did notice, and was looking far from happy about it.
"What- is it? What's- so- funny?" whispered Lorraine, nudging Arya while shaking with silent laughter that had her pausing every few words. Arya's laughter really was contagious, huh. Rita didn't know what was going on either and even she had to put her face down on the desk, shoulders shaking with laughter. Well, the way Arya laughed was so funny that they didn't have to know what she was laughing about to join in. But now Rita was curious too.

@koneko: There are both daily quests and quests you can do whenever. And earning currency has a daily cap which makes me feel like I need to max that out. So yeah not for me lol.
@CycloneKira: Goatlings is hella cute though. Subeta is nice too but the dailies made me quit XD I reallyyyy don't like dailies lol.

@Totalanimefan: Yeah the food situation is worse in US than other places. On top of that, the US doesn't have a culture of cooking things from scratch. I was surprised when someone opened a bottle of Tahini in a cooking video. If all you need to do to make Tahini is roast sesame seeds and grind them with some oil... that's literally two steps, lol. I didn't understand why someone would want to buy that pre-packaged. My mom was like, they can't cook anything without using something processed/packaged. I think that's dangerous. It's one thing to eat processed food once in a while and it's another entirely to use processed food as a part of every meal.
Nothing's more important than your body. Money's not as important as your body. Money comes and goes, but if your body's ruined you can't fix it, or at least it's very difficult to fix. Plus, money is only valuable because of what you can do with it. And if you don't use it for what's most important- your body, your first resource- then that money might as well be worthless.

@koneko: Yeah, the thing about pet sites is, dailies tend to bore me. And the quests are interesting in Dappervolk's case but there's just too much to do. I like something chill that I can come to whenever. Not something that's demanding that I need to make time for- that defeats the point for me.
@CycloneKira: Have you tried Goatlings? I feel like that would be more up your alley. That's the only other pet site I still go to sometimes.

@CycloneKira: Dappervolk's art is lovely and the pets are cute. If you want a pet site that's got a lot of activities then it's a good one. Personally I find it overwhelming when a site has too many things to do. Kofk hit that middle spot.

@Deaa: I love the aesthetic of this thread!
And I like writing too are you working on writing anything particular right now?
I don't get why they want to switch jobs to in-office that can work just as well remotely/from-home. As long as the work is done, what does it matter? Why not keep the work remote, to be on the safe side?

@Edelaen: Oh, ouch. I know how you feel. I've lost online friends, not teachers but RP partners. The site I used to RP on had an overhaul and we didn't establish any other means of contact through other sites or anything, so I don't think I'll ever find them again.
It's even harder when someone disappears from a site and you don't know why or how or if they'll ever return though. I hope he's doing well, and I'm glad you're okay about it. It sounds like you had a close and enriching relationship, so it's a precious memory, at least.

@Edelaen: Yes, I love how cute and simple it is; I knew if I ever went for a tattoo it would be something minimalistic with a kawaii vibe. This was perfect for me at the time.

@Totalanimefan: I feel like your obesity rates have a lot to do with the food industry in the US. The latest findings on obesity linked it to the lack of beneficial gut bacteria, which are responsible for digestive health and also really important for overall health. And in the US most babies/newborns are born without the gut bacteria they need to process nutrients properly and things like that. And by most I mean like 90%. This is a cumulative thing; their parents and their parents' parents ate food with a lot of antibiotics in them and now instead of a child ruining their gut as they grow up by eating things which harm gut bacteria in them, they're being born without it.
My mom was like 10% of the babies still have the gut bacteria, and I was like, they're probably immigrant babies lol.
But it's seriously like a vicious cycle: the conditions for good health don't exist, and the healthcare system is broken, so the ill-health continues, and capitalism makes the food industry worse, which makes good health even more difficult, and it goes on...

@CycloneKira: This site is definitely more focused on chatting. Most avatar forums are that way, y'know. KofK smushed virtual pets with a virtual forum and the result was amazing, but there aren't many sites like that- in fact I can't think of another one. There's Dappervolk but you don't earn currency on its forums. Although the forums are very active. You earn through games and quests and things like that.
@koneko: Hiya! What's up?

@CycloneKira: Chatting around earns you volts pretty well. You could make a spam thread in the Undercurrent but that won't earn you much cause it's only like 1 volt per post in that forum.
How did you earn food on Kofk? Like what was your go-to way?
