Jade just sighed as he read the message, and typed one back.

There's a number of reasons for that, but perhaps my mana was too much, too fast for them. Regardless, we need to get you a replacement pair, and we need to get them ASAP.

I know a place where you should be able to get some, and get some made up by the end of the day. it read.

"Damn it again." Jaden growled under his breath as he handed the phone to her.

"Not even 5 minutes of being under my care, and I already fucked up."

"........................." Jaden was silent for longer than he would have liked.

"Son of a bitch!" he cursed quietly.

"Damn it, damn it, damn it." he repeated, starting to panic slightly... before pausing.

He then grabbed his phone out of his pocket, and typed something on the screen, before handing it to her.

Where did you get them? I'll get you replacements. And did they not have mana in them to protect them from stuff like this? it read.

"......eesh." Jadden muttered.

"Yeah, sorry." he said.

"I should have warned you." he told her.

"My portals tend to do that to people." he went on... but again, she didn't answer.

"...uh... hello?" he asked.

"Hey, look, I'm sorry, okay?"

"........." Jaden was silent as he saw this.

"Oh." he muttered.

"Oh crap..." he said.

"I... should have warned you about that." he said further.

"Are you all right?" he asked.

"I mean, you should be okay soon, but how are you NOW?"

Jaden held back the chuckle that threatened to emerge, and nodded.

"Got it." he said.

"We'll head there now." he told her.

He then looked around for a moment, before looking at her.

"Come on." he said.

"I'll get us there where nobody can see us." he told her further.

".........." Jaden was silent for a moment, before smacking his forehead.

"I do not." he said.

"You'll need to tell me." he told her.

"I can use my mana to get us there, but I need to know the location." he said further with a small laugh.

"And what do you want to eat?" he asked.

Marcus returned the hug, assuring Desiree that he wasn't going anywhere.

"Take good care of her." he said to Jaden.

"The best." Jaden responded with.

With that, the two of them left the room, and Rene properly checked her out of the hospital. Once it had all been taken care of, the two of them stepped outside.

"Hungry?" he asked her.

"Want something to eat before heading home?" he asked further.

Both Jaden and Marcus were silent as Desiree stuttered out her responded.

'Hm.' Marcus thought.

'Maybe some speech therapy might be a wise investment.' he thought further, as Jaden made his way towards the girl.

"Regardless, perhaps we should leave soon." he said to her.

"Try to get you back into the swing of things."

"....." Jaden was silent for a moment, before clearing his throat slightly.

"Hey." he greeted her.

"Marcus McCormick." Marcus introduced himself.

"Ah, Sherwood's mine." Jaden said.

"...as in the Sydney Sherwood, one of the Triad heads?" Marcus asked him.

"....yeah." Jaden confirmed. "I'm her son." he informed him.

"Heh." Marcus chuckled.

"Desiree, I think you're in good hands." he told his daughter confidently.

Rene looked back out the door when she asked.

"You're on." he said.

He then withdrew his head from the door, and in walked a rather thin male. He was dressed in a grey tee-shirt, black jeans, and black knit hat... with blonde bangs sticking out. He was also pale, and both Desiree and Marcus could see him for what he was.

He also paused for a moment, almost frozen in place, before shaking his head.

"Ah, hello." he greeted them.

"Name's Jaden." he introduced himself.

"Got it." Jaden replied.

"Get there ASAP, I assume?" he asked.

"Yep." she replied.

After about 15 minutes or so, Rene poked his head in through the door once more, where Marcus and Desiree were.

"Hey." he said.

"Good news." he said further. "I've found someone that can take care of Desiree for the time being." he told them.

"......." Jaden was silent when he heard that.

"I... see." he said.

"That sounds like something out of a damned mage soap opera." he commented.

"But how can I say no to a situation like THAT?" he then asked rhetorically. "And yes, that IS me saying 'yes' to this." he quickly clarified.

"...how's this going down?" he asked. "Where am I going, and when?" he asked further.

About 5 minutes later, Aly stepped into the room.

"Oh, you're awake." she said.

"Was wondering when that would happen." she chuckled.

"Anyway, you hungry?" she asked.

"The sandwiches arrived about 20 minutes ago, and they're still pretty toasty warm." she told him.
