They spent the next few months working on their new direction, and finally... FINALLY... they had a breakthrough. Lunet's code was solid, and it seemed like it would work.

And as soon as that happened, Leo got to work on the hardware, and a few short weeks later, the design was finalised.

"....this is it." he said to her.

"This design... your coding... it should work." he told her.

"I don't see why it wouldn't, now." he added.

"Right." Leo said as he approached her.

"Hear me out here." he went on.

"What if..." he said, mentioning a few variables in her coding, and suggesting that it could be done another way, but it was pretty vague.

"I mean, I don't really code, but it should be possible, yeah?" he asked.

"And if it does, I think I know how to make the hardware play nicely with it, and interface with you."

Hal just smirked when he heard that.

He then turned and started to walk away. As he did, he snapped his fingers... which was probably heard by Lunet, but part of him didn't care.

"Granted." he said softly, more to himself, before he continued onwards.

Meanwhile, in the room, Leo continued to puzzle over their issues, before he blinked suddenly.

"...wait..." he said. "Wait, wait, wait..." he repeated.

"Hold on, hold on. I think we're thinking about this in the wrong way." he told her. "Maybe we need to approach this from another direction." he said further.

Leo had his hands in his hair, and looked stressed.

"Argh...!" he exclaimed.

"I normally wouldn't be this frustrated, but we're SO damn close!" he said.

"Seriously! We are SO close to getting it to interface with you! But the coding just refuses to get into line, and I CAN'T figure out why one of the components just won't get along with the others!" he went on.

"We're so close to the finish line, but it's like we just stopped in front of it!" he said further, as Hal stopped outside her room, overhearing what was said.

'...they're trying so hard...' he thought to himself, silently sighing.

When he returned to Aly, she handed up some of the cocoa.

"Here." she said.

"You look like you could use a hot drink." she commented.

"Anyway, how did it go?" she asked.

"Well, I assume? I mean, you look decently pleased." she then said further.

"And any idea how long this will take?" she asked further.

"I'm not sure, either." Leo admitted.

"But... nothing ventured, nothing gained. No guts, no glory. And all that stuff." he said.

"For real, if we buckle down, I'll bet we can come up with a workable design." he then went on.

"Technology's improved a lot in the past while, and I wouldn't be the head of Techretti if I shied away from a challenge." he added with a small laugh.

"Anyway, you in?" he asked.

"This won't and can't go forward without your consent."

"Hey, no problem." Leo replied, sitting down and handing her a drink.

"Heard you loved this drink, so I got you one." he told her.

"Anyway, why I'm here." he then said.

"You're blind. And odds are you'd like to see." he continued, being blunt and frank.

"I've helped a friend in the past that's deaf. I made her headphones so she could hear again. Among... other things." he then muttered.

"Regardless, would you care to work with me? See if we can't make something to help you see?" he asked her.

"It's not that I'm worried about." Leo replied.

"Anyway, I'll be there shortly." he told her.

Sure enough... he was. He knocked on the front door and Cain answered, letting him in.

"Lunet, your guest is here!" he called to her.

"And he brought speciality coffee drinks, too!" he added with a small smirk.

"Oh, I can make it out there, no problem." he said.

"I can even meet you at your home." he told her.

"Just gimme a few minutes, and I'll be there." he assured her further.

"Who all's home?" he asked.

"Is it you and Cain, or is your father there as well?" he asked further.

"Just so I know what kinda reception to expect."

"....." Leo was silent, before calling the number.

"Hey Lunet, it's Leo." he said when she answered.

"And yeah, she told you right." he went on.

"When can you meet to discuss it?" he asked her. "And where?"

"Yeah, sure, go ahead." Leo replied.

"We're not close, but we HAVE met. I don't mind if she has my info." he said.

"Also, Cain's as chill as he is, mostly because of his father." he then told her.

"Azazel's really chill overall, not just for a demon." he went on. "And odds are he's influenced Cain in SO many ways." he went on.

"I mean, his dreams are another matter, but... well... some things just shouldn't be known outside the Order." he added in a bit of an ominous tone.

"Well, given my recent promotion in the Order, I can pretty much make my own time." Leo laughed.

"Let me know whenever Lunet has the time." he told her.

"As for hovering, I'm sure if he gets Cain to try and hover and spy, we can work something out." he then said. "Cain's a pretty chill guy." he reasoned.

"But yeah, gimme a call whenever." he reiterated.

"I'll show up."

"....hm." Leo muttered.

"That's... a good question." he said.

"What do YOU think would be best?" he asked her.

"You know Hal and Lunet better than me." he reasoned.

"I can work with any kind of circumstances, but... hm. I'm not sure if he'd be a hoverer or not." he mumbled.

"Also, Lunet and I aren't super close, so it may be best if you arrange our meeting." he added.

Leo paused for a moment, seemingly stunned.

".......ah...." he stammered.

"....hm." he mumbled, suddenly becoming QUITE contemplative.

"I... cannot say." he said. "One way or another." he continued.

"Don't get me wrong, I accept the challenge, but eyesight is a LOT more finicky than hearing." he went on, essentially echoing Hal's concern.

"I'll see what I can do." he told her.

"I'll have to work with Lunet personally, though." he then added. "See what her individual situation is and such." he reasoned.
