"This is all you have?" the young male asked, as he looked at the 3 books before him, brushing his blonde bangs out of his eyes, and checking the titles.

"It is." the older male replied, scratching at his short brown hair.

They were Zeke LeBlanc and Vincent Remmington, both mages of considerable power... and each of them having a very special reason for that, known only to a select few. They were currently in the library/study of Vincent's manor, as Zeke's mother had asked him to stop by and pick up a few books for her. She'd have done it herself, but life had become very busy for her as of late, and Zeke was easy to guilt into doing things for her.

"Well, thank you muchly." Zeke responded, as he started to look through the first book.

"Think nothing of it." Vincent replied, before a small pulse of mana was felt by the two of them.

"...doorbell. Must be the other guest I was expecting." he commented. "Excuse me a moment." he said to Zeke.

Zeke nodded, and Vincent left, before the blonde continued to read through the first book. He'd only been reading for a minute or so, before he suddenly froze, and shot up, suddenly on alert.

"....what is this...?" he wondered, looking in the general direction of the front door.

".........." he was then silent, before getting up and starting to make his way towards where Vincent would be; the front door of the manor.

"Precisely." Rene replied.

"...well... I guess... that's it, then." he said.

"We're leaving this city, this state, this country." he continued. "And we're all setting up shop in Canada." he finished with a small smile.

"Onwards to our future!" he then declared, a stoic and stalwart look in his eyes... before he broke down and snickered.

"No, I can't do that seriously." he admitted.

"But seriously, let's order in to celebrate this new direction we're taking." he finished, before going to grab some take-away menus for them to rifle through.

"Cool." Rene replied.

"Just let me know when you plan to move." he told Kalin.

"I'll make sure we're all ready to go." he said.

"I'll tell the hospital to phase me out of the roster there, so they have time to find a replacement, and I'll let Erica's school know we're changing address." he went on.

"Because it won't matter where we live. You'll always be able to get to school." he commented, looking at Erica with a small smirk.

"How fortuitous." Rene responded.

"I suppose that does take care of a massive issue." he commented.

"Would you be all right with us living with you?" he asked her.

"And would YOU be all right living with Kalin?" he then asked Erica, before pausing.

"Also... where is this place?" he asked.

"If you mentioned it to be before, I've forgotten." he told her frankly.

Rene raised an eyebrow when he heard that.

"Oh?" he asked.

"Interesting." he said.

"What sort of house?" he asked her.

"Like, some run-down shack kinda deal, or something more extravagant?"
Posted in Emotional Baggage Posted 7 years ago
"As good a reason as any." Rene responded.

"But it can be very difficult to just uproot oneself and go to another country..." he muttered.

"We'd... need to plan ahead." he said.

"Find a place to live and such." he went on.

"This may take quite a bit to iron out..."

Rene was silent for a moment, looking at Kalin, and then towards Erica.

"Well... yeah." he said.

"Tell me." he muttered.

"Where would you prefer to live?" he asked her.

"Any place in specific?"
Posted in Emotional Baggage Posted 7 years ago
Rene crossed his hands over his chest.

"Moving." he told her.

"I really think we should get out of this city." he commented.

"Maybe this state." he said further.

"...maybe the country, too..." he went on.

"Look, I'm saying this city's probably too dangerous for you to live in."
Posted in Emotional Baggage Posted 7 years ago
Rene just sighed.

"Whatever." he said.

"Point is, Erica's home again." he commented.

"Now, then..." he mumbled.

"I think we need to discuss something." he said further.

"The future."
Posted in Emotional Baggage Posted 7 years ago
Rene smiled.

"Heh." he chuckled, as they left.

--

"........." Rene was silent as she said what she did.

"Hey, I clean." he told her.

"...sometimes. Occasionally. Maybe." he muttered further, before sighing.

"No comment." he grumbled.

It was then that they heard familiar frantic padding, as Felix rushed up towards her, and jumped into her arms.

"You got it, then." Rene replied.

"Let's go get waffles." he told her.

"Whatever you like." he said further.

"Money is no object, feel free to go as extravagant as you like." he went on.

"Hell, have one of everything if you're hungry enough!" he chuckled.
Posted in Emotional Baggage Posted 7 years ago
"......wow." Rene muttered.

"Almost feel sorry for the poor guy." he said.

"ALMOST." he stressed.

"At any rate, let's go." he told her. "You don't have to stick around here any longer, so we should leave as quickly as possible." he went on.

"Allow them to clean and sterilize the room and all that." he reasoned.

"You thought about what you'd like to eat?" he then asked.
Posted in Emotional Baggage Posted 7 years ago
"Yeah, but even now, it still amazes me sometimes." Rene responded.

"And not in a good way." he clarified.

"Regardless, you're good to go." he told her.

"We just need to make sure you don't get worse." he said. "You were really hurt when I found you." he sighed, shaking his head.

"I'm guessing it was you that caused that brawl between all the people there?" he then asked her.

She'd been reading for about 2 and a half hours, when Rene finally stepped into the room.

"Geez!" he exclaimed.

"The channels here are like a damn maze sometimes." he said.

He then shook his head, looked at Erica, and smiled.

"Hey, you." he greeted her, making his way over.

"I finally managed it." he told her.

"You can leave whenever you want.... as long as it's with me, of course." he informed her with a light chuckle.
