Rene paused when he heard his name, and looked in the direction that it had come from.

He narrowed his eyes, before quickly making his way towards where the redhead was.

"Not now, Kalin!" he called back.

"In the middle of a crisis, here!" he said, meeting the young woman in the kitchen.

"Erica's gone missing, and I can't contact her at all." he told her.

"I have no idea where she is, or what's going on." he added.

Rene hadn't gotten worried when she didn't answer her phone the first time. He became mildly concerned when she hadn't texted him back within 5 minutes. When he called again, it went straight to voicemail. And again, the third time.

So he walked her route to the library, and asked the staff there about her. When he was told that she had left hours ago, he felt the first pangs of panic in his mind. He raced back, using her route, and contacted the service provider he used for both his phone and hers. When they told him they couldn't locate her phone, he then started to REALLY panic.

He went into the den, and started to pace.

"Damn it, damn it, damn it, damn it." he cursed on repeat.

"The HELL is going on!?" he exclaimed.

The man was silent for a moment, before sighing.

"Very well." he replied.

"So it's the hard way." he said.

He then charged up alarmingly potent electricity in his hands, and held them out towards her. However, the bolts didn't hit her at all, they went right past her. But when she looked back, she saw that the lightning was starting to form a dome around her.

He was trying to trap her in said dome, and electrocute her within.

This question's been answered, so I'm going to go ahead and close this topic.

"All I know is that you amplify and manipulate emotions." the male responded.

"And how do I know?" he asked.

"Simple." he said.

"There's a record of altercations that have arisen, with you involved." he told her.

"Some digging here, some questioning witnesses there, you piece the information together." he went on, showing her that this person wasn't just some grunt-level lackey.

He was intelligent. Which made him that much more dangerous.

"Now... it's time for you to come along." he then hissed, reaching out towards her, the mana in his hand threatening electrical shock if she tried anything.

The male just laughed as she said what she did.

"I'm just a deliveryman." he told her.

"I take you to where someone will claim you, I get paid, I leave." he said.

"Kid, I've been doing this for a looooooong time." he went on.

"I've evaded the Council for this long. People that will be looking for you do NOT scare me."

The figure did not seem intimidated.

"I do, indeed, intend to try." he told her.

"I came prepared, little girl." he said.

"There are people that want you. And will pay a hefty sum for you." he went on.

"I'm not letting this prize slip away." he finished.

With that, his hands charged up with electric mana, and he shot a few warning zaps at her feet.

"So are you going to make this easy on yourself, or no?" he asked.
Posted in Emotional Baggage Posted 7 years ago
"....you." the person responded.

"Well... that's technically not correct." they then said.

"What I want... is THAT." they told her, pointing to her wrapped arm.

"But seeing as you and that are a package deal, my first statement is not entirely incorrect." they continued. "But now I'm being pedantic." they shrugged.

"You have a powerful ability." they then said.

"One that has great potential." they continued, taking a step closer towards her.

"If only used when in the hands of someone with vision." they added ominously.

"....." Rene was silent as he watched her go.

'...I really hope what Vincent is going to do will help.' he thought.

'It really seems like she just doesn't care about crap anymore...' he sighed, before sitting down at the kitchen table.

"...but is that because of the markings, or what..." he then wondered aloud.

He then just shook his head, and started to clear all the papers from the table.

"Guess I don't need all this anymore." he said.

"All that work and research... and I couldn't do a damn thing."

Rene looked at her, and nodded.

"All right." he replied.

"Take care." he told her.

"Hm." he then muttered, scratching his chin a bit.

"Do you want a cell phone?" he asked her.

"You're young, but I think you're mature enough to handle one." he reasoned.

"Plus, it'd give you a way to contact me if need be." he added.

"Of course." Vincent replied.

"I have all kinds of books." he told her.

"Fiction, non-fiction, and... well, anything you can imagine." he said further.

"Regardless, I shan't hold you up any longer." he went on.

"I'll see you to the door." Rene told him.

"Mmhmm." Vincent mumbled, as the two of them left.
Posted in Emotional Baggage Posted 7 years ago
"A bit, yes." Vincent replied.

"It's rare to see one as young as yourself interested in reading." he told her.

"I have quite the collection of books, you know." he then commented.

"Would you like to see it at some point?" he asked.

"Or would you like me to bring you some on any specific subject you might be interested in?" he asked further.

"That's rather generous of you." Rene commented.

"Knowledge is meant to be shared." Vincent replied.

"If it is not, it is wasted."
Posted in Emotional Baggage Posted 7 years ago
Vincent had just about left the room when she said that, and froze.

"Sure thing." Rene replied.

"Hm?" Vincent muttered.

"Library? Book?" he asked, looking towards Erica.

"You like to read?" he asked her.

"Spend a lot of time doing so?" he asked further.

"By the time I'm finished, you won't need those wrappings." Vincent told her.

"If you continue to wear them, it will be for aesthetic reasons only." he assured her further.

"Now, the sooner I leave, the sooner I finish what I set out to do." he then reasoned.

"And don't worry. You deserve an education, and we're determined to get you one." he added with a smile.

"Thank you for taking the time to speak with me." he then thanked her.

"And for allowing me to examine your markings. I know that was difficult for you."
